Rotunda…“a round building, especially one with a dome”…OK, cut the architecture lesson and move on. The Rotunda Bar located back in the Sienna is a cool location alongside the Truckee River, which as of this writing is very low unfortunately. However, that didn’t take away from the mood and atmosphere of the bar itself. My wife and I went here for the happy hour and appetizers to officially kick off our Friday evening, not that we ever really need an excuse! There was almost nobody there at the time we arrived around 4:00, and things were a little disheveled and not quite organized. Nobody really knew which menu to use(OK, we had a coupon for a free appetizer and they have small and large items on their menu so I suppose that was a bit of a monkey wrench), but they figured it out. Karl at the bar was very helpful and poured us both a healthy glass of wine and then we moved to one of the sofas with a table to wait for our appetizer order. There was seating outside as well which gives you a great view of the river yet we chose to stay a little warmer inside. The seating inside was OK but like I mentioned before it was kind of all over the place and the tabletops were dirty and had remnants of the previous guests. Not a huge deal, but cleanliness is key… at least for me. But hey, it’s a rotunda!!! Karl was certainly the key to keeping things going though as he was doing it all it seemed and occasionally saw a waitress come out from the adjoining restaurant bringing out food. When the food did arrive it was a nice presentation and looked delicious. I had the Ahi Tuna, and my wife had the Flat Bread pizza, and we both shared a salad. All tasted good although I did leave the deep fried shell alone and just ate the tuna, which was very well done in the wasabi sauce. Sitting on the sofa was fine, just a little awkward at times and almost too casual for the experience… in a rotunda! The place picked up a bit at the 5:00 hour and Karl, the bartender/waiter/busboy/cashier/guns ‘n roses was all over the place… he was the glue that night. At this point I’m not overly impressed, but we’ll have to come back and see what it’s like a second time around. I really want to support the local industry and know that the Sienna has gone through several iterations, so for that reason alone it deserves another chance. Did I mention it’s a rotunda? Good job Karl!

Fabulous, view location. Good food but no happy hour prices on food. Just half price drinks. Server seemed a little unsure about many things but he was friendly and very attentive. We ended up ordering off the dinner menu instead of having appetizers. 4 very happy customers.

This bar was located inside the Siena Spa and Resort in Reno. So we thought we stop by for Happy Hour before our dinner reservations. And we ended up being late for dinner because we were enjoying ourselves so much. ½ Price well drinks, beer and wine from 4pm to close plus half off apps from 4−6pm. How can you go wrong? No seriously?! The wife ordered a house cab and I ordered a vodka/cran. HOLYCRAPBATMAN Karl poured a huge glass of wine and a stiff vodka drink. Got the bill and it was $ 5.32. $ 5.32!!! HECKYA!!! I was so excited that I told Karl, LETSDOITAGAIN!!! Karl was super cool even though he has that super greasy, slicked back hair which looked like he was getting casted as a 80’s movie villian. Give Happy Hour a try, it is well worth it.
