Cool place to bowl and drink. Dis spin all night, good music and bar food. Affordable drink prices and they always seem to have a good size crowd.

Such a great place to hang out with friends. Bowling is cool and drink prices are great too.

Besides the pretty bad curb appeal, and the poorly flushing toilets, this place is SICK! Great drinks and fun bowling. You can’t beat the $ 3 well drink special for sure. Even their snacks are pretty good! Try to Mac ‘N Cheese Balls. I know this place looks a little shady on the outside, but take a second to order a drink at the bar just to check it out. I swear the place will grow on you. And the employees are super friendly. Always a plus!

Located on Virginia and 1st Street in the basement of the old Woolworth building(I think). What’s not to love about a HUGE bar with a pool table, DJ booth and 6 lanes of bowling? August 2015 I hosted my birthday party and I was surprised about how good the food was. I loved the Hummus platter. Unfortunately the menu has changed. It’s solid bar food — wings, fries, sliders, mac & cheese bombs, etc. They are doing a few nightly specials Tuesday — Country Line Dancing COMINGSOON Wednesday & Thursday 25 Cent Wings — $ 1 minimum order — 2 Sauces max! Bowling. SUNDAY-THURSDAY: $ 5.00 a game or $ 30.00 an hour up to 8 players — $ 2.00 shoe rental per guest FRIDAY — SATURDAY: $ 5.00 a game or $ 30.00 an hour up to 8 players. After 5:00pm $ 40.00 an hour. $ 2.00 shoe rental per guest. prices subject to change. The good: Extremely friendly staff — keep in mind I went for a private event and a slow night. Bowling is a fun thing to do without being in an actual bowling alley. Large open space. They are very accommodating with music requests and levels on slow nights. Yeah I’m a chick so I asked for HGTV to be put on the TVs in our lane. It was not a problem. The not so good: No wine list — red or white. Can get loud in there. Lots of stairs if that’s an issue for you.

Came here for a fun birthday weekend for a buddy and landed here for some bowling fun. Really enjoyed the place with its fun vibe, disco lights, many large screen tv’s and the large bar able to service your thirsty needs. It’s a blast and a must if you have a group of people you want to have fun with. We also ordered a bunch of appetizers and we didn’t get a bad plate of food. Solid work!

If I could give less than one star, I would. Sat for 20 minutes, while everyone else around me was helped, only to ask to bowl. The service is lacking and very understaffed. I will never recommend this place to anyone I know.

Coming inside, i noticed that it looks very upgraded and clean. The prices aren’t bad and it is awesome that they have a bowling alley inside. The prices are a bit on the high side, which is why I’m taking one star away. Saturdays are 18 and up for dancing, which is pretty cool. I need to come more often to experience more of what they have to offer, but overall it’s a good spot to hang out downtown.

SOFUN! The DJ cracks me up. there are zero people on the dance floor? Fun, cheap place to bowl. Sad, if they don’t’ get more business they’re gonna go out of it. If you want some place fun to bowl and drink, then you found it!

I typically only write reviews for excellent service and like to say I try to see the best in people. However our experience at shelter compelled me to share my experience. We reserved an hour for bowling to celebrate a birthday. By the time the hour was up, we had 4 people yet to finish their 10th frame. This was perfectly fine. I walked over and asked for a 5 minute extension even offering more money for the courteous extension to finish our round. I was then directed to the bartender who said he would do this, great! While we waited for our match to come back online, someone came over and told my me and my fiancée to get off our seats because another group was coming. Of course we don’t mind moving and sharing space once the other group gets there but there was aggression in his tone. I assumed this man was just a sour person from the next group, but I later discovered he was actually the owner rudely telling us to move our rear ends. After several minutes our scores disappeared, and I went to check in on the extra time still thinking this should be a simple fix and in good spirits. I was told by the person I originally asked that he was too busy and that I should have talked to him when it first happened(this is the same person I initially talked to who redirected me to the bartended) because our scores are gone. He then redirected me to the owner who irritably said you’re scores are gone, you can buy another hour if you want. After I began to become upset, he backtracked and then offered 5 minutes but our scores were still gone and his tone was still«get out of my face, I don’t care» I understand mistakes happen and that’s not the reason for my negative review. Customer service was non existent. My entire party felt like a nuisance and not a customer. The owner should be the pinnacle for customer service, but I have little doubt he is a reason that shelter has a limited lifespan. It’s a shame because it is a beautiful bar.

Kind of a cool spot. We were there when it was pretty dead, but the layout is cool and the bowling lanes are just fine. Run a little loose. Good selection of beer and the crew was pretty nice. It would be nice to see the place when it’s hopping.

I’ve only been here once, and that was right after opening. The place wasn’t very packed. My buddy and I came and split some of the foodstuffs. We didn’t participate in the bowling lanes. I must say, the food was awesome. The style is your typical bar food: sliders, and chili fries, but on a much higher caliber! Super delicious! And not an unreasonably priced either. Service was great. My buddy and I sat at the bar. While they weren’t much for conversation, the bartenders/food servers(they were 2 in 1!) were attentive and prompt. Qualities that are quite valuable to me. I’d love to go back now that they’ve been open a while and see what progresses they’ve made!

The owner clearly dumped a load of cash on outfitting this space. The décor is very classy and very modern. However, with no acoustic treatment to speak of, any entertainment taking place makes the place sound like a bus station. The resulting concrete echo chamber just makes drink orders more awkward. Speaking of drinks, they’re overpriced. $ 12 for a shot of well bourbon and a pint of Coors Light? That is one expensive Blue Collar Boilermaker. Didn’t attempt bowling as the price is 2 – 3 times higher than anything else in town. Giant screen TV’s at the end of the lanes are a huge distraction to a bowler’s concentration and do nothing to enhance the experience. The bar bites are surprisingly good. Sliders with fries were above average, and the pricing is on par with market. If they’d do something about the sound issues and make the bowling market-rate they might survive another year.

Going to save my stars until later. Have a lot of family coming in and it just happens to be my daughters birthday. Looking for someplace to do something for all ages. So we are planning a bowling party Can’t tell about good or wine yet. But this is a great party place. Lots of space to dance if you want. Play pool. Noël. Or just have a few drinks and snacks. They also have a DJ station. It is in a basement of the old Woolworth building. Ok went back for bowling party. Surprisingly the«bar food» was very good. We had sliders, fried calamari, hummus and Fritos libre(fries, guacamole and beef). Haven’t bowled in over 40 years had a good time and did’t do too badly. Didn’t try the wine had bloody Mary’s. Found them little bland. Definitely would do it again. So if you’re looking for something different, give it a try. There’s something for everyone.

Shelter has a cool feel to it. Entering on a different level than the business adds a level of mystery to the experience. There was a group of us looking forward to bowling and drinking in a kid free environment. There were some kids still there with partents when we arrived but left shortly after. We set up on one of the lanes, six or seven total I believe. The other part is a bar and large dance area. The bowling was a little experience but the environment was great. Music playing and tvs playing various music with blacklights. It was all we were looking for. We were able to play a game and a half in the amount of time we had bought. Next time we talked about paying for games instead with a large group. There were five of us total. We got our drink on and our bowl on that night. We would go back and talked about it after. The only bad thing ever mentioned was the price of bowling. The service was good and place was clean and we left with smiles on our faces.

After finding a place to park we walked in to a nice greeting. We were led downstairs by a very nice young lady. She explained about this awesome new edition to downtown Reno. Bowling lanes are great and at the end of them there are big screen tv’s. Great background music to bowl to and the drink was very good also. We were in kind of a rush but we did enjoy ourselves. We will be back again soon to check it out when it warms up a bit.

I just popped in here to check out the new spot. I love the lighting and the size. Looks like they have a yummy menu of food items, and great selection of cocktails. $ 40 for 1-hour of unlimited bowling is a great deal. The only thing that threw my off is the $ 10 cover charge to get it. I’m not exactly sure what time this begins, I’m thinking around 8? But I didn’t realize this was a club. It looks more like a sports bar, so I don’t understand the reason for charging to get in. I will for sure not go in there when there is a cover, it’s not worth it to me. Plenty of other spots around town that don’t charge to get in. If I’m going to pay for a club, I’m going to go to a club. Looking forward to going on an afternoon and bowling.

Newly opened bowl, bar & grill. Happened upon it on a Sat afternoon. Took my nieces & friends for a few hours of bowling & drinks. Great staff, very friendly. Drinks are good. 6 lanes to bowl, pool table and very large bar & seating area. Would be good for private parties.
