I know this location has closed and they’re opening a new place in it’s location, I still feel a review is necessary, so in case it opens elsewhere, patrons will know what to expect. I’ve only come here a couple times. The décor was amazing and made the whole place feel upscale. All the food I’ve had from here has been tasty and satisfying. the first time I was here was for a bible study get together fun night. I had the tomato soup. Definitely one of my favorite tomato soups I’ve had, but not the top slot. A second time, I went with a friend for one of his friend’s birthday dinner. He and I split appetizers, we had calamari and something else. I’d have to say BJ’s calamari did beat Chocolate Bar’s. But it wasn’t awful. If this place opens elsewhere, I would recommend it for a special date night, as prices were kind of steep, but for the experience, it’s worth it. I wouldn’t recommend an every date night type of thing, besides, variety is good and Reno has a ton to offer!

The Chocolate bar delivers a sensational experience in the form of mouth watering food and easy on the eye drinks. I had a chance to dine at Chocolate on a Thursday night around 6p. Parking: We walked to the heart of downtown on the corner of First and Sierra to make our way to the restaurant. Food: For my entrée I ordered their house burger loaded with just about every ingredient you could put in there. Overall a very scrumptious burger. Moist hamburger meat, the rough texture of the bacon, and the gooey cheese made this meal unforgettable. One thing you have to try is their Signature Martinis. Simply divine! A couple of my favorites were the Red Lotus and Ichigo Crush. They’re packed with flavor. I thought the Downtown Tini was just okay. Service: With zero wait time the hostess had no trouble accommodating us. The server was very good at attending to our needs and returned to the table numerous times to clear plates and refill drinks. At our request she made it easy for us to split the bill. I’d come again and I reccommd anyone in the Reno area to visit at least once.

Reto was the manager when we ate at this restaurant, the service was terrible. Food was fine, better than average. Ordered a cheeseburger, got it 15 minutes after everyone else, no cheese. Drinks took 30 minutes to show up. Will never go to this place again. Sad, we used to love this place.

Our experience as a group of 12 our experience started bad, got worse, and ended horribly. While our frustration was obvious and apparent, we almost feel sorry for this little bar/restaurant because their poor service and complete carelessness for customer satisfaction will undoubtedly drive them to insolvency and closure. It took 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order and another 30+ minutes for delivery. The food order was completely messed, with simple items like cheese and bacon missing from a CBar Burger with cheese and back. The one bright side was the kitchen was twice as fast as the bartender — despite one hamburger taking an extra 15 minutes than all 11 other dinner plates. By that time everyone else was half done eating. After all this time we had to wait another 20 minutes for our checks. We had to debate and cajole the«manager» to remove the missing cheese from the bill. That’s all he would do to ensure what he thought was a positive experience for us. We walked away having the most miserable experience, and hence this one star review. Gladly would I give CBar zero stars if only Unilocal offered that option.

Love love love! We stumbled across the Chocolate Bar and Lounge yesterday afternoon. Super swanky, cute décor that made us feel like we were in SF or LA. Good music choices with friendly faces. I had the Red Lotus and Ichigo Crush and OMG they were to die for! My mom had the Bananas Foster and my sister had two customized coctails, all very tasty. We ordered garlic strings and buffalo wings which were also yummy! The best part was we went during happy hour so our bill for all that was only $ 55! You cannot beat awesome drinks and dining experience for that price. Love it and can’t wait to go back.

We almost missed this place since we weren’t expecting it to be where it is. You’ll see what I mean when you get there. Then you walk in and it looks all fancy and romantic inside with the chandeliers and cool wall. I tried the Red Lotus cocktail and the Ichigo Crush. Although both were good, I did not get buzzed at all. Not even a little bit. I’m a small framed chick and can usually feel the buzz on the 1st drink. I felt nothing whatsoever and I drank my first drink on an empty stomach. Maybe they forgot the hard liquor or I suddenly developed super powers to resist getting drunk ;) The coconut shrimp and scallops were great. My pops loved the chorizo under the scallops. Super cold inside so bring a sweater. Service was fantastic! Natalia looked after us well.

This place is fun but has changed a ton since they opened! They have changed their Menu and got rid of all their fun drinks. :(I miss the chaitini! They now serve dinner(never tried it) but their desserts are still amazing! The chocolate fondue is fun and fresh!

I will forever miss this place — there’s no place like the Chocolate Bar. I had a lot of great memories at this restaurant. I enjoyed the fondue and desert martinis, they always hit the spot. I never really ordered from their dinner menu that much because the last couple of times I did, it wasn’t anything too spectacular. Their fondues are great for couples and big groups of people. It’s melted chocolate under a candle with brownies, shortbread, bananas, and strawberries surrounding it. Always nicely assorted. I lived in Reno for about four years and with my experience, service was always fast. I also like that the waiters/waitresses are patient when taking your order. I like that they come up and check on you, but they don’t have the need to start conversations. When I visit Reno again, I would love to find the chance to go back.

I went here with a group of four on a slow Saturday night and was turned off immediately. As we walked into The Chocolate bar, we were greeted with sneers, no smile and all around horrible service from the hostess. In all of the places I have dined in my life she may quite possibly have been the worst hostess I have encountered. Judging by the reviews I’ve seen on this place by other Unilocalers, bad service seems to be the status quo at this establishment. After we were seated, she mumbled something under her breath to the tone of «your server will be with you.» At this point, we’d all just about had enough and after a 15 minute wait of not seeing the server once, we left. Best decision of the night. If you want to have a good experience do not come here. Ever.

No complaints whatsoever. From the décor inside and out, the service, the drinks and the fondue… We are visiting from out of bff own and will definitely spread the word and be back for more.

Unique place | Great drinks | Fun Atmosphere $$ I stumbled upon this place when my friends and I were walking around Northstar. That sign just stood out and I knew I had to go there because I absolutely LOVE all things chocolate. The décor is pretty cool, all black, crystals, and other chic-ness things. Bathroom is at the front, one person only. Great variety for the drink menu! I had the German Chocolate martini and I LOVED it. It was so easy to drink, which is pretty dangerous, because it the coconut syrup with chocolate really made everything perfect. There’s coconut shavings on top, too. My friends had the C-Bar and White Chocolate Rasberry. They had no complaints as well: P We all weren’t that hungry so we ordered small meals and shared them. A bunch of people in my group ordered a small salad with grilled cheese, and I split the chili with my husband. SOGOOD. They’re not the cheapest, but a great place to check out. I saw that one drink, «Sexy Snowman», was $ 30! Wow. Great for groups. Good food. Fits a couple large groups.

Brought my son here for a nice dessert on his 21st birthday. We had the white chocolate fondue. It is a delicious white chocolate sauce served with bananas, strawberries, and brownies. The fondue is a MUSTHAVE!!! We were served by the bartender and he was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. Definitely going back for more fondue!

January 7, 2015 Wednesday — 8:30PM Dessert 3 adults Atmosphere — 4 stars Food — 4 stars Service — 5 stars Background — Step son’s 21st birthday and need some drinks and dessert and we were downtown for some gambling. What better place to hit! Atmosphere — A small space on the side of the Century Riverside movie theater. Very elegant is the base way to describe the place. 8:30 at night and the place was full on the first floor. They did not have the second floor open as the bartender was taking care of the whole space. So we ended up at these low tables and booths. Food Drinks — Just water tonight for me. My step son did get some great looking mixed drinks including a free shot. My Meal Dessert — The three of us split the fondue for two. Birthday boy got his choice and went with the White Chocolate Fondue, if you did not know this is not really chocolate. But white chocolate is still very yummy. The menu indicated we get pound cake; instead we got two servings of brownies. The brownies were dense, I like mine a bit less dense but I get it that you need to stab them with a fork and drown them in more chocolate. The low tables made eating the fondue a little challenging. The little votive candle, yeah I know that silly word, probably did nothing to keep the chocolate melted. Service — The bartender was awesome. I wish I remember his name as he deserves kudos. Future — Yeah, maybe for dinner next time as the Ahi looked amazing on the menu.

I was in Reno for the weekend and was looking for somewhere to have a drink and dinner. Very glad that I stopped by here. Sat up at the bar top and the bartender was very friendly and gave excellent service. Ordered the German Chocolate martini which was awesome. For dinner I has the stuffed chicken sandwich with French fries on the side… my guest had the grilled cheese sandwich with clam chowder and she liked them both as well. I will deffiently go back when im in the area.

Service was Ok(we were only people there) but food was awful. Steak was rough and rubbery and the salmon was very fishy. All signs of not being fresh or even prepared correctly. The mashed potatoes and veggies tasted like they came our of a microwaved steam bag. Save your money and order a pizza. Not a recommended place to eat by any means. Thumbs down.

If you go there for some melted chocolate, you will not be disappointed. There are a lot of items to dip into the warm silky chocolate like brownies, strawberries, cheesecake, and bananas. Give it a try when you are feeling the need for chocolate.

The Chocolate Bar is not just about chocolate as they have a full menu with different food. The food is pretty good but let’s face it, you come here to enjoy something chocolate for dessert. The chocolate swirl fondue dessert had both white and milk chocolate that was creamy and warm and perfect for dipping the bananas, brownies, yellow cake, and strawberries that they serve with the chocolate fondue — yum.

I’ve always been a huge fan of this place and it’s impossible to beat chocolate fondue. Great ambiance and a great experience has always been offered. The most recent time I visited, the fondue prices increased significantly and the chocolate was rather runny and dripped everywhere. It wasn’t incredible busy but the service was kind of slow. For the higher price and the lower quality, I don’t think I’ll be returning again.

I have been to the Chocolate Bar 3 times thus far and I’ll go back… I like the menu but the food quality is hit and miss. One time great and last night was just pretty good. ~My husband and I don’t drink much so can’t rate the bar. ~ I had the filet mignon, ordered medium which I wished I didn’t, usually I’ll order medium rare. It was over cooked and pretty flat. Still tender. Didn’t care for the purple butter or whatever it was. A lot of people do. Veggies and garlic mashed potatoes were great. I like they way they season their vegetables. ~ My husband had the chicken sandwich which he liked a lot. Great fries!!! Ordered garlic fries to bring home to my daughter and those were soooooo good! Waiter didn’t give my husband the option, we saw someone else eating them. The first time we ate at CB was for dessert. Custard filled donuts. They were the yummiest dessert I think I have ever had! LOVED them! Warm, soft, icing melted in your mouth… Yum! Second time we went I could not wait to have them again! Sadly I could have broken a window with one. Our server was kind enough to remove them from the bill. Service always seems to be friendly but a little flighty. Different servers each time with each of their own rainbow rooms to day dream in. Nice enough to not take issue unless my coffee gets cold waiting for the milk… And the waiting for the spoon. :/ CB has great coffee when it’s hot. Ambiance is nice, a little cold feeling if empty but still nice.

So sad to see our favorite fun spot closed down. This was a place you could bring the entire family and have a great time plus awesome desserts. Thank you for lots of great memories.
