One of Reno’s hidden gems. Amazing intimate venue.

Wow. One of my favorite things about living in Reno is finding some of the hidden gems this city has to offer and Studio on 4th is defiantly one of those. A friend of mine had been trying to get me to visit this place for quite sometime, telling me that it was a pretty awesome venue to relax and watch live shows. I acquiesced one night and was blown away by its one of a kind charm and soothing ambiance. The bar is separated from the seating area. Although is an open separation is still creates a feeling of two entirely different spaces under the same roof. I noticed that the bar was welcoming and lit with an almost magical golden/amber hue. Something I appreciated right off the bat was the fact that they don’t have slot machines, this meant I was able to have conversation with the bar tender as well as watch the show without having the roar of slot machines try to overcome the experience. The show was amazing and the sound was great. The night I went we saw a couple of different local/semi local folk singers & bands. Apparently The Studio on 4th has different live shows 3 – 4 nights out of the week. According to the event calendar I saw on the wall and on the website, they have every kind of music you can imagine — just log onto the website and pick which shows you are interested in and head on down! I noticed that almost every Wednesday they do «game night» — I asked the bartender what this meant and he told me they pull out board games, dice games, big Jenga and sometimes they pull out the Wii and play it on the big screen — I was blown away! No other place in Reno does that! The place is truly an asset to Reno, if you drive down 4th street to fast you will miss it so pay attention. Some of the other things I noticed during my evening were: * They have a really cool seating area with couches. * They have two bathrooms, which is unheard of for any downtown bar. * They have a piano that I’m told your welcome to play. * Drinks were VERY reasonably priced — not a place that will break your bank. * Super nice and attentive bartender who makes some amazing cocktails! * Good parking right across the street. I didn’t have to park a block away in the dark. I’m going to go back for sure and I’ll bring friends. I looked ahead at the calendar online and I’ve seen a few shows that I’m interested in already! Maybe I’ll try a game night too! Check it out! You’ll have a great night!

This is quirky little place. Since the venue is small, the musicians were comfortable talking to the audience between songs. After each musician was done with their performance they sat down with the audience to view the next performer and interacted with the audience about their performance. The sound system guy should have paid attention more. Several times the musicians had to ask for adjustments on the sound in the middle of the performance. One time there was nasty feedback during a song and the performers almost had to stop the song.

Great venue and a perfect place to see live music in Reno! The owner really cares about the quality of music and about having a top-notch place for touring artists. Michael who’s in charge of booking(and also the bartender) is great, and Doug(who does the sound) is great at what he does! As a touring musician, I have played there twice already in 2015. Can’t wait to come back to Reno to play Studio on 4th!

A little treasure just off the beaten path in Reno. Great venue even though it is small. Not a bad seat in the house with video screens in the bar. Close to freeways and casinos. Very nice atmosphere with friendly efficient staff. Great place to see a show and make new friends.

I was very surprised by this place! Don’t let the location and the outside scare you away. This place is a little gem hidden right off 4th. I came here for a concert/dance performance mix, and had a great time. The stage and seating area aren’t huge, but they have enough room for around 20 – 30 people to sit and enjoy the show. The staff were all very friendly, and the bartenders were quick with our orders. I will definitely be looking for a concert to come back to soon.

Dive bar– seriously. To start with its in a not so great area of town and parking is slim. The building is divided– right side is the bar area and left has a decent sized low stage area that holds about six people and a small dance floor with a few high top tables. It’s one of those places that if I drank beer it would be from a bottle here. So no drink ordered at this trip, I watched my friend’s drink for tampering. Yes I feel it’s that kind of place. And the bathroom situation is odd and unique– two toilets that face each other. Now I don’t know how guys act in the bathroom but I can tell you the ladies don’t sit there facing each other and chat up a storm. I will pee before coming back here again and be the designated driver any time you want to check out this«nightclub »

Shitty bartender with an attitude, and you have to coax her into making a decent drink.

This is such a small edition to 4th street that it might be missed. The outside looks very different than the inside from my perspective. I went because of a show I heard of with a band and dance company. Both of which were amazing. There were four of us checking out the venue. It was full! A few tall tables, a few short tables, bar seating, and some random chairs brought out for people to enjoy the show. An amazing red neon sign reading«CABARET» can be seen when headed to the bar or bathroom from the main room. It was such a laid back and comfortable vibe. There was a mixture between artists, burners, and locals in the crowd. I was I intrigued by the encounter with this bar and want to know more. Much like that stranger who charmed you. This bar deserves a repeat visit or two. I’m looking forward to see the other experiences we will have here.

I’ve had the good fortune of being here twice; once for a bohemian burlesque show where I got to see boobs, and another to see a good friend perform her music. While there wasn’t much boob the second time, it was still quite awesome. The Studio on 4th is — first of all — on 4th, so remember we aren’t talking about some Michelin star-esque cabaret place like you’d find in Vegas. The area reflects the outside AND the inside; a total dive, but homey. You can smoke in the back room which has a pool table, and you can still buy a pack of cigarettes out of a machine, making you feel like you just walked into a Humphrey Bogart movie. The drinks are cheap enough, the bar is okay stocked, and the chair situation in the performance area is actually more of a clusterfuck than anything else — but there is a little magic to what happens here. Talented people have a chance to display their practiced abilities to a group of friends, acquaintances, and the strangers others have brought to participate in what is a fantastic time to be had by all. Especially for the burlesque show, because they actively encourage you to yell out nice explicatives and that’ll get them to smile more and take their clothes off more quickly. Highly recommended.

Its refreshing to find a place in Reno that grows culture in our community without being totally f-ing boring. This is a good location to find eclectic performances and a fun energetic bar. With a rotating schedule of events its easy to find something for everyone. Lots of nonprofit and community workers are regulars here, ranging in age from mostly twenties and thirties to a few into-forties folk. The bartenders and patrons are fun and energetic, seemingly more socially conscience, but not pretentious and douche-y. Probably one of the best features is the varied events schedule. There’s open mic and karaōke, dance and burlesque shows, local to international music, theater, and actually funny local comedy shows. With a stage, bar, dancefloor, and kitchen this place is consistently a fun scene. Check out their website for events and have fun!
