Fantastic all you can eat. I had the sushi chef hook me up, he just kept bringing his favorite items. Seared tuna nigiri, upside down shrimp, mussels and a bunch of other items that were all delicious. If you’re going to do the all you can eat, I highly recommend that you let the sushi chefs do their magic.

This restaurant’s service is a joke. I understand that it was valentine’s day dinner, but the other reviews regarding the AYCE wait time is all true. Me and 3 other friends came in and the restaurant was packed. We were given a menu to order off of and after we’ve decided, the table behind us was finally seated. We gave them our order and it took over an hour and a half for TWO plates to come out and that wasn’t even the rest of our order(they only brought out 3 of our items of the 7 we ordered). On top of that, the table behind us got their entire meal and finished eating before we even got ours. Since we noticed how long the food was going to take, we decided to order a second round of food knowing they’re gonna take well over an hour for it to come around. So then we waited all over again, and everyone around us got their food before we did. I noticed one of the waitresses would apologize to the customers saying, «I’m sorry the wait was so long for the food to come out» but when she came to our table, she dropped it off without saying a word and took off. Not even bothering to acknowledge our table. We then waved down another waitress and asked her why our food hasn’t come out and all other tables finished and her excuse was«oh people at the bar get to order directly from the chefs so they get to speak to them face to face.» I get it, the people at the bar get slightly better attention due to the fact that they can order directly up front, but I’m a sushi chef back from Sacramento, CA and this place is a joke. I know how ordering at the sushi bar works. You take orders from the people at the bar and you ignore all the orders that come in first? Even though we were waiting for over an hour for our food? I get it, it’s valentine’s day but where’s the hussle from the chefs and cooks? They were taking their sweet time making all the orders. And at my restaurant, that type of hussle wouldn’t fly. Not only that, I heard other tables that did AYCE around us just dipped without even receiving their food because the waitresses came around asking if we wanted their rolls because they just got up and left. We should’ve taken that as a red flag and left when they did. I hope this business gets some restructuring done because the chefs were slow at their job and the Asian waitress had the snobbiest face on that night. I’m sorry, but also the presentation of your sushi rolls were garbage. You guys cut the rolls but you can’t even plate them to make it look decent at least? All the chefs did was cut the rolls into the individual pieces and didn’t even make it look appealing. You got 4 chefs working in front, a couple more in the kitchen and you can’t handle this small of a restaurant? I think you guys better consider hiring more quality chefs before opening another Sushi Pier location.

I would not recommend this place for anyone because of its bad service and unspecial sushi. There was a woman who was working inside of the sushi bar showed us her bad attitude, even though, we just came in and did not do anything. I tried to eat quickly and get out of there as fast as I can. Never want to get back again

I used to frequent Sushi Pier 2 when it was in Parklane Mall all those many moons ago and it was always great. Went to Sushi Pier 1 to treat a friend and his girlfriend to a birthday dinner and service was terrible. We went in about an hour and fifteen minutes before close which is a reasonable amount of time. Having worked in restaurants for ten years, I would never be the jerk to pop in 15 minutes before close. I was, however treated like that jerk. I ordered chicken which never came out because it was never put in. I watched our server immersed in her side work, her only concern was getting off right at close. After a few sushi orders our sushi chef began to clean up his station without a last call. Once again, after working in the service industry I get it. You want to get off work in a timely manner. But at least give your patrons the opportunity to finish their meals order. My friends would have been happy to order all at once. When our server finally realized my food never came out, she shrugged and said sorry and took the soda I had off of our bill. I realize I should have requested a manager, but our server should have let them know her error. Ijji ended up winning my business.

$ 22.95 ayce including appetizers, dessert, hand rolls, and nigiri. My group of 5 polished off at least 10 plates of sushi altogether. There is so much variety to choose from. I loved every roll we tried, but especially the smoked salmon nigiri. Everything was fresh and the rolls came out presented very nicely. We also tried quail egg shots(something I’ve never seen or experienced before) I tried it just to try it and it was alright. Desserts included mochi, fried banana and icecream, and a strawberry parfait. Overall, a great find, and I can’t wait to be back!

I am from Southern California, where we are used to eating seafood for almost every meal of everyday. The fish that Sushi Pier uses has amazing colors and looks and tastes very fresh. This is my favorite sushi place in Reno, and my favorite sushi place so far, ever. I wish I could have given this place 5 stars, but the waitresses here are all very rude, but one. I have been to this restaurant many times before, and every time at least 3 – 4 waitresses are there and, unless one in specific is working, they’re all rude and disrespectful. The sushi chefs are so nice, but this place lacks because of their waitresses.

I’ve lived in San Francisco where some of the best, freshest sushi can be found. Los Angeles as well so I had my reservations going to this place so far inland… If you pinned me down and asked me to name the best sushi I’ve ever had, which would include 40 or 50 places this place would get strong consideration for the best. Tried 8 – 10 different types and each one was fantastic. Me and my friends literally talk about making the 2 hour drive just to go back.

The flagship is always the best. The Sushi Pier chain is one of the bigger, more established names in the growing sea of sushi joints in Reno, and a visit to its O.G. location can help clear up any questions about its reputable standing. Sushi Pier was my first dip into Reno sushi, and I remember being sold on the place even before walking in by the wall of stickers outside. Love places that boast a local connection, so I was already digging the feel. My family almost always pushes for the Midtown Sushi Pier because it’s newer and roomier, but I definitely prefer the original location for its coziness and better quality. I am always happy with their unagi nigiri. For those that aren’t huge on sushi, Sushi Pier has some of the best bento meal options in town. Teriyaki salmon and chicken are especially solid choices. The side salad on these entrees comes with a DELICIOUS, but heavy, miso dressing; along with the eel, the salad may actually be my favorite dish from this place. I’m not that big of a fan of fried sushi rolls, but if it floats your boat, Sushi Pier has a good spread of options available. The fried Godzilla is good for fans of yellowtail. I am still on a long and wistful search for great katsu from a Reno sushi place, but aside from that, Sushi Pier is a great spot.

Came here for lunch on a snowy day in Reno. I don’t remember the exact price, but it was under $ 20 for all-you-can-eat. I went to town on their nigiri selection and a couple of hand rolls. Quality was above average and service was friendly. Great value AYCE; there are many other items to choose from ranging from rolls, udon, donburi, appetizers… but no sashimi, so I went for the next best thing — nigiri.

We decided to grab lunch in Reno before we headed back to the bay. I wasn’t expecting great service since our stay in Reno seemed to have everything but. My dad was the one who wanted to try the place out after receiving a recommendation from a friend. We came at 11:45 am, 45 minutes after they opened and they were already packed! The staff kindly greeted us with a smile and informed that it would be about a 25 minute wait. No problem. When we were seated, she told me she was glad that she was able to find us seats at the bar(we were a somewhat large party). She patiently went back and forth between the two ends of our party to explain the menu and ask us if we needed further accommodations. The selection was great. I’ve been to my fair share of sushi restaurants and Sushi Pier offered many new menu items I had never seen before. The chef at the bar serving us was extremely friendly and encouraged us to try new things. He even made a «special roll» for my two younger siblings. Why didn’t I rate it 5 stars? I was looking forward to having some sashimi, but they only offered nigiri. The pieces of fish were large enough so it wasn’t too much of a problem. I also wanted to try some of the dinner rolls, such as the caterpillar and spider, but that meant my entire party would have to pay the dinner price. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely come back. Service was friendly and food was good.

Michael S. has been raving about Sushi Pier since he started cutting my hair about a year ago, so on a random Monday with nothing to do I decided to give it a shot. While I’m glad I did(it is the original), I’m not sure that it will be entering into my regular rotation. The first strike came when my favorite appetizer(seaweed salad), wasn’t on the included appetizer menu. It’s the same price as some that are, but they would have had to charge me extra for it. Meh, I can get it elsewhere. The miso soup I substituted was standard. The second strike appeared in the form of really boring rolls available on the lunch menu. The dinner menu is great and has a ton of options, but those aren’t available unless you’re paying the dinner price. That’s fine, I know several places in Reno do this, but it’s annoying. To me, lunch is cheaper because you eat less, but I guess I don’t own a sushi joint, now do I? But, even if you are going to make certain rolls available or not at lunch, at least give me some variety. Crea. m cheese and avocado do not exciting rolls make Strike three(you’re ouuuuut!) is because while I love cold sushi, this took cold to another level. As in, my teeth hurt a little bit because of how cold it is. I found that the fish had a lot more flavor when I let it sit for a few minutes before diving in. I’ve recently been a fan of some other haunts around town, and I think I’ll keep going to those.

This is one of my favorite sushi places in town, It’s a standard sushi place with the same stuff you’ll pretty much find at any other sushi place in town. But I don’t know what it is about the mussels here they must have some kidn of secret way of preparing them, because they taste so good I have not tasted mussels like the ones here anywhere else. Also the if you sit at the bar the Sushi chefs are friendly and attentive, I don’t know why but so many sushi chef’s here in town act like Pre-Madonnas, I have yet to encounter that at this Sushi Pier

Enter at your own peril. Negligent owners put all patrons at risk. Sushi Pier was FH and I’s favorite sushi restaurant. Not just in Reno, but ever — including all of the places we’ve been to in the Bay Area. But I can’t give any more than 1 star(and I’d give them 0 if I could) because the owners of this place are completely irresponsible and have zero regard for, or concern about the safety of their patrons. We went in the Sunday after Thanksgiving on our way back home, and as I sat down and reached under the lip of the seat to scoot my chair forward, my finger became trapped in their broken chair, between the seat and the metal chair frame. I felt instant pain, and pulled my finger out. What came out was only part of my finger. The rest of it was left in the chair. Or it maybe it fell on the floor. I initially thought I’d severed my fingertip, but thankfully it wasn’t that serious. It only ended up cutting into and scraping off ¾ of my fingernail and a couple millimeters of the flesh below it, but it was a bloody, mangled looking mess. Obviously I’m using the word«only» quite loosely. I walked, bleeding, from my table to their kitchen counter to show them what’d happened, and then sat in the hallway by the bathroom to avoid scaring anyone who came in(we came right after they opened) and to not bleed on anything. Did they clean up or sanitize where the blood may have dripped?(If you’re someone who unknowingly ate any possibly blood-tainted food that day or the days that followed, don’t worry, I don’t have any communicable diseases…) It’s now 3 weeks later, and I still have limited use of my right index finger, and I’m right-handed. Because of this, and another unfortunate, miserable incident at the Peppermill, I had to get a tetanus shot. Worst vacation weekend ever. I’ll save you the horror of posting the photos I took, but believe me, I’m tempted to put them up, since I received NO communication from the owners of the restaurant. Yeah, ZERO. One of the waitresses took my contact information, called the owners, texted them, I e-mailed them, I even resorted to Googling and Facebook messaging them, and they absolutely refused to acknowledge that this happened. That kind of disregard for safety, for injury, and their careless maintenance makes me afraid for other patrons who believe they’re getting fresh, healthy, safe food. If they don’t care about me missing a piece of my finger because of their negligence, do you think they’re going to care about your e-coli or your parasites? Doubtful — they’ve made it abundantly clear that they don’t stand behind the safety of their restaurant. If you get violently ill from eating their food, or you get hurt in their restaurant, don’t expect that they’ll care or do anything about it. And don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Whenever my family and I are in Reno and we’re craving sushi(which is always), we stop by Sushi Pier. As recent implants into the Reno area, this was actually the first AYCE sushi place we ever heard about, and subsequently visited. And we’ve been coming back ever since. As a family, our favorite rolls are the San Francisco Roll(ask for spicy mayo drizzled on top), the How We Roll, the Midtown Roll, and the Tahoe Roll. Out of those, I think our all-time favorite is the Midtown Roll. If you’re thinking about ordering it, just know that it’s deep fried, so it takes a little longer to make than most of the other rolls. As for the appetizers, their Miso Soup is very good. Also, it does not come with seaweed. At least, it hasn’t any of the times we’ve gone. Personally, I don’t mind the seaweed, but I’ve heard that it’s a big positive for most people to not have to pick around it. This particular location is very small. Though I have yet to visit it, I’ve heard that the second location is much, much larger. Also, the two locations are relatively close to each other. I say that because if you’re thinking about going on a Friday or Saturday evening, maybe decide to go to the larger location. However, I’ve never had issues with service or seating at the original location, so take that suggestion lightly. The servers and sushi chefs are very good and efficient at their jobs. This will always be a family favorite for us. I know there are many Sushi Pier trips to come, and I look forward to them. Happy feasting.

A must whenever I’m in Reno! You can’t beat the price for AYCE sushi. Service is great, quality is good! One thing I love is how their nigiris/rolls are a little smaller than usual. I know some AYCE sushi places tend to give a crap ton of rice in attempts to fill you up or something. Not here! Here, I’m able to try more items on the menu yet still be satisfied with delicious portioned sushi. Mmmm, I look forward for the next time I’ll be eating here!

I was rolling around Reno with my Reno Associates and they suggested Sushi Pier . So we rolled there . When we rolled in we were warmly Greeted by a Cute Waitress that had several interesting Tats We chose to be seated at the Sushi Bar . Our Waitress brought us Water and Menus. We all went with the AYCE option. This was a Great Choice. All Sushi is made Fresh when Ordered . I had a Quail Egg Shooter it was very Tasty . I ordered a lot of Nigri, Hand Rolls and a Few Rolls. I had the Fried Banana’s and Ice Cream for Dessert. Dessert is also included with the Ayce. Service was great the Waitresses were all Cute and Efficient. Sushi Pier will be one of my Regular stops when I’m in Reno. I paid for my Crew and we rolled out.

3.5 stars. This place was super accommodating for our group of 11 and even asked a couple to move down a few seats so we could all sit together at the bar. That’s pretty awesome service right off the bat. The sushi chefs were really nice and made the food pretty fast per our requests. Sometimes things would be forgotten but that was understandable with everyone yelling out what they wanted at them. The food was good, but of course it’s an AYCE place, so there is a good amount of rice in your rolls. However, it wasn’t as bad as I normally expect. They had a good variety of rolls, nigri, appetizers and even dessert. Their ingredients tasted fresh. The only mini turn off was that when the sushi chef was making table orders, he’d toss the paper menu on top which seemed a little dirty. I like other Reno AYCE sushi places better, but I wouldn’t mind coming back here. They also have a punch card, so you can get a free dinner if you have 10 meals. That’s a nice perk.

To go experience. CALLIN: guy was nice on the phone and made sure I was calling the right location because he said many people make that mistake. Nice day of him to prevent a common mistake, that’s good customer service right there. Yes it was the location across Costco I was wanting. FOOD: I liked the Titan roll with cooked salmon and raw salmon on top with lemon slices. The lemon slices cook the tops of the raw salmon slightly and is a great citrus flavor that merges well with the salmon. I liked the Buckley roll even more with cooked scallops. Sweet taste. Gyoza was crispy but had more extra edging than what I’m used to. Dipping sauce was good too. To go sauce container is hard to dip into since the gyoza has wide edging it doesn’t quite fit. Salad was good with the dressing. Like a Japanese coleslaw. Fruit strawberries didn’t seem that fresh but maybe because it’s not strawberry season. Orange slices were sweet. Gave us an extra albacore which was super nice of them. SPEED: said it’d be ready 10 – 15 minutes and indeed we were there in fifteen minutes and the food was ready! OVERALL: I will be coming back to try their all you can eat! I’ll do an updated review when I do.
