I’m not one to go out of my way to type a review especially a negative one but after thinking about it when I returned home from my mini vacation in Reno I find it necessary to share my experience. My husband and I visited the store Monday May 23, 2016 in search of crystals for our son’s jewelry business after taking our time and selecting a few pieces we went to the register and the older lady started righting down the prices on a pad, names of crystals, etc. When the older lady stepped a side to get a folder to pull out a piece of papers with the names of the stones, crystals. She herself misplaced 1 of the stones. But not after asking ME if I had it in my pocket. My husband and I were in shock who says that to a customer. How rude is she to think or assume that I had it in my pocket when further looking she found it herself and didn’t even apologize she just starts ringing up the crystals/stones as we didn’t hear her rude comment. I then asked her«Did you just ask me if I had the stone in my pocket?» and she replied«Yes». Well needless to say we walked out and did not purchase anything because of her rude comment and she was surprised that we took it personal and as we were quietly leaving the store she was telling the next customer of what just happened and she can’t believe we are leaving because of it. All I can say is I feel sorry for the young girl that was there helping her because she was getting on her for not watching the customers and Older Lady you need to retire. The fact that you don’t know when you are rude means you need to not work with the public anymore!!!

This store is my go-to for fun unique gifts that fit any budget. From jewelry to salt lamps to chess sets to big gigantic rocks, they have something for everyone! I always end up here at Valentine’s Day to purchase a stone buddha for my boyfriend, but this year they were all sold out :*(I purchased a cat carving instead. They get really busy before Valentine’s Day/Christmas so if you have something specific in mind definitely go ahead of time. I love their small greeting card selection and all the cards are tree-free. The cards have beautiful illustrations and are geared towards the namaste/chakra crowd for the most part, but there a few funny/cute cards. They have quite a few blank cards for any occasion that would please just about anyone. All the envelopes are unique to each card and very pretty. I love that none of the cards are too wordy. Their selection of stones and crystals is AMAZING with the stones place of origin clearly marked. They have a Nevada section that is pretty cool if you want something with the energy of our home. They have quite an array of sizes which is great because there’s something for every budget. One day I would love a giant Brazilian Fire and Ice crystal that goes for $ 75+ but am pleased settling with a smaller crystal for $ 10 in the meantime. The Virginia City store is also wonderful with most of the same selection if you have the time to cruise up there and check it out.

This is a must see store when visiting Reno. I found very unique and hard to find crystals at this store that I could not find anywhere in California. Very reasonable prices, The employees were super nice and very knowledgeable.

Amazing stones, crystals and rocks at decent prices. People working there are considerate and friendly. We bought a few pieces of pyrite for my daughter’s terrarium. We also bought a couple amethyst clusters and a sister geode, one massive geode broken into 2 pieces, therefore called a sister geode. If you’re looking for good prices on natural stones and crystals, this is a good place to go.

I was getting my tires rotated and balanced at Costco, so did some scouting at the nearby strip mall surrounding our local warehouse. The Stone Age Quarry was listed as a jewelry store on my smartphone, and it is that and so much more. I was totally fascinated by the wonderful curated displays(on shelves, glass cases, and counters) of stones, stonework, and artistic items made from said materials. Boxes, tables, fountains, objets d’art, carved items… they are all on display and there are price points from a few dollars to thousands all in one room. Everything was referenced geographically and by name of stone so it is quite an education just to shop here! It would truly be hard to not find something that you«have to have» here– a great place for unique gifts as well. A lovely jewelry display was also accompanied with a diverse selection of pendants and separate silver necklaces so you can customize a necklace. I will definitely be coming back when I can afford some new jewelry. As it was, I thoroughly enjoyed browsing and had a delightful conversation with the woman who worked behind the counter. She told me they and been at this location in Reno for 15 years– and to think it is just across the way from America’s favorite warehouse store! Good thing my tires needed some work, or I would have never been to this unique and exceptional store. I’ll be back!

Man this place is so neat… no matter how many times I’m there I am always impressed by the beauty of their stock. Every employee has been helpful in both their Reno and Virginia City shops. You can get a beautiful polished crystal for a couple bucks, or drop 15K on a huge cluster. I hope this place is around for a long time!

Love this store. I’ve purchased many a ‘rock’ here. They have a nice assortment of product. Even though there is a Costco across from this store, parking is not a problem. I’ve never had an issue, and always parked near the store. I recommend this store, if they don’t have what you want, I’m sure they would get or fond what you want.

God this place is so cool! I want so many things they have in there and walking around the store makes me wish I wasn’t so DAMN broke! Even on a tight budget, I was able to find a beautiful fossil for only $ 30(including the stand) and we got lots of other fun little beads and minerals. Wonderful selection, friendly staff, and SURPRISINGLYLOW prices. I wasn’t able to afford a 500lbs agate cathedral BUT I know where I’ll be going to buy one when I can! DAMNIT! I WANTMOREMONEY so I can buy more of their gems and minerals!

GREAT selection and fair prices. This is one of the best rock shops out there. I came here often when I lived in Reno. They carry many meteorites, fossils, mineral specimens, crystals, ornate carvings, and beautiful decorations. Feel free to bring your kids to enjoy all the pretty things, but be forewarned that there are lots of FRAGILE and EXPENSIVE items on display so you’ll be leaving with an empty wallet and an overdrawn checking account if your kids break something.

Wonderful store and knowledgeable staff. I always say if I ever hit the Lotto, forget the new car or house — I’m going to Stone Age Quarry first!!! Beautifully arranged store with everything your heart desires – including a few you didn’t know you wanted!

What is there to buy at a rock shop? Surprisingly, quite a bit. The Stone Age Quarry has come through on several gift-buying occasions, from a souvenir for a twelve-year-old boy(trilobite with informational card) to bridesmaids gifts(strands of dyed pearls for necklaces) to housewarming presents(salt lamp tealight holder). They feature an impressive selection of fossils, display pieces, and crystals, as well as strands of semiprecious stone beads, finished jewelry pieces, and novelty items like bags of geodes that kids can crack open with a hammer. Each item comes with an informational card, so it’s a great place to score educational presents for kids. The service is extremely friendly and helpful, and they will go the extra mile to help you find what you’re looking for. They’ll even call their sister store in Virginia City if you need something special and they’re out of stock. A fun place to browse around in or to find a gift for just about anybody on your list, Stone Age Quarry(wait for it) rocks.
