I bought a large floral arrangement for my one year anniversary with my girlfriend. Sadly, the flowers began to die the day after I bought them. I brought this up with the floral department and they went above and beyond to quickly replace the flowers and take care of me. Thank you for taking what could have made for a let down become a pleasant surprise!!!

Our company had ordered flowers for a customer who had recently lost her husband. Initially we had ordered them through 1800 flowers, who then subcontracted to Best Flowers by Julie. When the flowers arrived they were in pretty rough condition(petals broken, flowers drooping, just generally not something you want to gift anyone) and significantly smaller than what we were promised. When I called them, we were promised a redelivery from the florist with a corrected order. Within 5 — 10 minutes I got a call from Julie, the owner of the floral shop. To say that our experience with Julie and her company was horrendous would be an understatement. She cursed at us, demanded that we call 1800 flowers and get our refund and she would be coming to repossess our flowers. Needless to say, we were all for that idea. If you are not going to give us the promised goods and then on top of it, deliver horrible customer service then we do not need to support your business. Flash forward to this morning, when one of our sales people, Trisha, went to the florist at Moana. For the same price she got an arrangement that was much bigger, and much much prettier. We gave them no notice, and we were still very impressed with the arrangement. We are definitely grateful for their attention to detail and desire to please! Thank you very much for the wonderful flowers and great customer service!

I called to place a last minute order for delivery, I didn’t know the zipcode because I’m out of town but I picked them because they are two blocks from the location of delivery and she told me in a rude voice«I need the zipcode to help you» really? Reno is a small town and I told you the cross streets(mind you less than a mile away) and you still can’t help me without the zip code? Well that’s ok, you lost a $ 200 order due to your rudeness.

I have bought accessories there three times and each time the items where defective. After haggling i got a refund but what a hassle! Their nursery is the most expensive and their staff have little knowledge except«let me get the manager». Ugh! Never again!

I went to Moana Nursery for the first time last Sunday and really enjoyed my trip! First, they were open on a Sunday which gets big props from me. I work full time and Sunday is always my «housekeeping» day when I give love to my house. This trip to the nursery was specifically for mums and succulents. I was able to find to succulents I liked and an adorable planter for them. I was not able to find appropriately sized mums– I live in a high rise condo and my porch is 4’7 feet by 10 feet so I don’t need a huge plant. All of their mums were pretty big. We had a lot if employees willing to help us and an overall great experience at this nursery!

The selection of house plants was very poor for a nursery that advertises the location specifically for house plants. It was also very expensive. I went there expecting to see a real greenhouse — instead its clearly just an upscale retailer of plants that they don’t appear to be growing themselves. Instead of rows and rows of plants in a greenhouse in all stages of growth — so you can select small plants or large plants depending on your patience and your pocket book — there was only one room of large and high priced plants of just a few varieties. It was a huge disappointment.

This is the big-name independent nursery in Reno-Sparks. It has a good selection of plants, a great but expensive selection of pots, a pretty decent selection of garden supplies, and in season, perhaps the largest selection of fall-planted bulbs in town. The prices are higher than most other garden centers in town, but not drastically more expensive than the other independent garden centers. Of course I have my complaints about the plants they don’t carry, about the lack of variety in 1-gallon woody plants, and the limited selection of native/xeric plants, but that’s true of every single nursery in this town.

This is where I go for those hard to find plants! I find this place is a bit more expensive though.

I wanted to send an orchid to a friend in Sante Fe. I could not find a florist on the Web that I felt comfortable doing business with. I called the florist at Moana Nurseries. She called a florist in Santa Fe whom she knew and trusted. Within 24 hours, a beautiful double orchid plant in a lovely pottery cache was delivered. That is incredible service. Thank you, Moana Nurseries!

The only place I will go for my gardening and plant needs. I have never tried out their floral arrangement department so this is just for their shop and the nursery. The shop is so cute! They have little decorations for indoors and out, everything from stems and branches with lights for decorations to pots and Knic knacks, and they have tons of little fairy decorations for your fairy garden! So cute! Their nursery is well stocked especially with a wide variety of trees and roses. Their prices are more expensive than places like Home Depot or Walmart but the quality is unparalleled. I have gone here to replace plants I bought elsewhere. They also have an expansive indoor plant section that is well laid out and easy to navigate, just like the outside section. They have nice signage explaining some of the more popular plants and even though it’s not discussed a lot, I really like the carts they give out to shop with. The staff is so knowledgable and they know exactly where everything is. I am a newer gardener and they helped me select plants that would be perfect for what I need and am looking for. And it’s nice that they are always available to help but don’t bug you the whole time or push any extras on you. They have a nice selection of soils and fertilizers and also a huge bird feeder section. They literally have everything you could think of. Save the extra trips and the back and forth and just come here for a one stop place to get unbeatable quality products.

I have never dealt with the floral department. I use moana for a majority of my planting needs. I get specials in emails that are worth taking advantage of. The discount if you sign up as a customer is beneficial. The plants are always in great shape and root well. NOt one has ever died on me. The folks in the nursery are VERYVERY helpful. As an example, I have purchased my tomatoes from the nurseries at home depot and lowes but this year went to moanna for them. I paid maybe $ 1 more but the plants are doing 75% better than the plants purchased from the nurseries at the other stores. Since I have a pretty brown thumb in the garden, if I want a plant that I know is in great shape and I don’t have to worry the first few weeks, I go to moana. If I find something in my garden that I don’t know what it is, Moana can always tell me what it is and if it should stay or go. Everyone is nice and smiling. The young guys will always help me to the car if I need it to lift the potting soil.

This is the ONLY place I will buy perennial flowers from in Reno! I’ve been burnt too many times by Lowes and Home Depot and spent way too much money to not have any flowers come up the next year. Last year I gave up and decided to «bite the bullet» and buy everything new from Moana Nursery and I am very happy to say that every single plant I bought is blooming, doubled in size, and is super healthy — YAY! They are a bit more expensive than the others you’ll find around, but it’s totally worth it in the end. No disappointments at all! Also, the staff always seems to be super friendly and helpful each time I go in… which is awesome, because I’m somewhat new to the area and needed to know what will grow/thrive/make-my-house-look-beautiful. I’ve since recommended them several times to friends and family and everyone seems to love them just as much as I do. I plan on going back this weekend to pick up some veggies for my garden. 2THUMBSUP!

Not impressed at all. Ordered an arrangement online from Teleflora and when I came to pick it up was very disappointed. Instead of the full arrangement of daisies and roses it was daisies and 4 barely opened rose buds. Not at all worth what I had paid and I won’t be ordering through the teleflora site or this store.

So here’s the thing; I too had a terrible experience with the floral department and swore they would never see me again after the way I was treated. However, I recently moved to southwest Reno and after driving past it twice a day for the last year I decided to drop in and see if anything had changed. To my great relief, the entire floral department was let go and a new floral manager is in place. The selection of nursery plants is good and the service outside is very good. The prices are higher than the big box stores but the staff has an excellent working knowledge of the plants so it’s worth it.

This place used to be so much better. It has become a disappointment and usually we don’t even bother to stop by during our usual post-Thanksgiving shop fest… especially on shop local day. Oh well. The selection just isn’t the same these days. Definatley not one to go out of your way for.

The nursery is fine, but expensive. The floral department — meh. An out-of-town friend ordered a high-end gift basket for me after the death of a family member of mine. I wasn’t home to receive the delivery on the day of the funeral(business hours), as I was attending the funeral, and then a family gathering, and then out to dinner. The delivery person didn’t leave the basket with neighbors, and the basket clearly wasn’t refrigerated in the meantime. By the time I got it, it was all wrinkly fruit and wilted plant materials; really sad and bedraggled looking. In my opinion, nothing that looks that bad should ever be delivered to a customer. I complained. The person I spoke to in the floral dept. said she was fine with the service and product they provided. As a customer, I wasn’t fine with it. And there you have it. Like I said, the nursery is okay; go elsewhere for floral services.

Terrible customer service. I went to the front counter to ask a question and the girl working looked and me and said«yeah?» a simple«is there something I can help you with?» would have worked. I find that anytime I go I’m there I am treated so badly I don’t stick around to look at prices. I will never be back there.

I feel a bit bad giving a one star review, if I had to rate the nursery alone it would be 4 stars. But alas, I naively decided to have the floral department do my wedding flowers, and what a mistake that was! The manager lost my order, and too embarrased to call, she did it from her foggy memory! When the flowers arrived on the day of the wedding they were not the right color or type, and the center peices were nothing close to what I ordered. I specifically said my arch was to have no flowers, just vines, but there was this eyesore of entangled flowers, leafs, and plastic pearls! My boquet, which I requested in all white, was a rainbow of colors and so wilted that the hotel ran out last minute and got me a new one. The worst part was the awful floral manager had the gall to blame me, yelling at me and my mother about how I called to change the order last minute, a blatant lie. Do not mess with a mother and her daughter on the day of a very large, very expensive wedding! And by all means brides, never ever let moana do your flowers!

I have to mimic the sentiment expressed in the first reviewer. A lot of people I know have said the same, its a great nursery, but the prices are too high. I love to support local businesses, but I can only shop there when there is a massive sale.
