Just heard the store closed… what happened to customer’s credits? Anybody get theirs refunded?

An independent used bookstore — on the small side. Mainly carries newer popular titles. But I do enjoy visiting these kind of bookstores when I travel — was able to pick up a book on the local area — good prices and friendly.

This place is awesome, and the owners are hilarious and irreverent and a total blast to be around. Yeah, it’s a used bookstore. But it’s a used bookstore that has awesome events and fabulous company and easy to shop! I would say that it’s a hidden gem, but all of downtown Renton is a «hidden gem». It’s quaint, it’s quirky, it’s fun, and I adore going here.

LOVELOVELOVEORBE!!! Dacia is amazing and knows pretty much everything about everything. PLEASE support this small and struggling business! From what I’ve read, it’s the last bookstore in Renton.

If you are a fan of the bookstore(no not the ones with aisles of merch and a coffee bar, I mean BOOKstore) then you’ll love this place. Don’t come in looking for something specific. Just take your time and meander the aisles… What am I saying? If you’re a fan of bookstores you’ll know how to enjoy them. One more thing, the owner is a little crazy but she owns a bookstore in 2014. What did you expect?

This is one of my favorite places to go in downtown Renton. I can take my kids, as the owner is super laid back, and usually has her young son with her too… there are toys and a magnificant children’s section! I did almost all of my Christmas shopping here last year, and it was SUPER easy! Just tell Dacia, the owner, what someone is in to, and she’s sure to have at least one good book recommendation. The best part is– I trade in my books and hardly pay anything! It’s a sweet deal.

I love going to this store. Dacia is very knowledgable about what she has and what is good to read. Many times I have gone in there to ask her what she would recommend of a certain genre and she has more times than not, 90%, guided me in the right direction, I would say. I love this store and will support mom and pop shops first, so if they don;t have what I’m looking for I go buy it and turn it in to them. I hope this store stays around for a long time. It is one of my favorite places to spend my money.

I’ve been to Old Renton Book Exchange on several occasions. Each time, the proprietress was knowledgeable and helpful. I could tell her about a book I’d just finished and she would have suggestions for another book that she thought I’d enjoy. Great service, great prices, and always a pleasure to shop there.

This is an update from the first review I gave two years ago. I love, love, love this store. My kids love this store. As it’s a used book store, I’m not guaranteed in finding something specific but if Dacia doesn’t have it, she does her hardest to find it. I usually go in with a list in my hand and she is great about helping me find anything. She just started a book club in the store and I can’t wait for the first meeting. This store is right up my alley. Thanks for keeping books alive in DTR.

I moved to Renton about two months ago. I was thrilled when I walking downtown that I found a used bookstore and other cute businesses. I went in today with a very specific book in mind. Guess what?! They had it. YAY! I don’t expect a used bookstore to have everything so when you go in with a specific book in mind, be prepared for a no. I was glad that had it, but ready to look for something else if they didn’t. The owner(I’m assuming she’s the owner) was extremely friendly and had lots of suggestions. Her son(again, I’m assuming) has been there both times I’ve been in and he’s the cutest thing ever. It makes me really happy that there is a real family owned business that I can support. I find the owner very inspiring! It’s worth checking out. I’m sure you’ll find something!

ya, so BF and I shopped the DT Renton area– trying to support local business and it was much harder then anticipated. we stopped here and i found a cookbook for my parents. prices are 1⁄3 of the listed price, which i thought was a bit steep. their selection is limited and seems a bit outdated. but they also seem to have alot of teenage girls books? the ladies working there were nice and helpful but seemed overwhelmed and distracted. i might be back, if i’m walking by…

I love going to book stores! Could spend hours in them! I have lived in Renton for 3 ½ yrs now and just discovered this place! I was so excited to see a locally owned book store!!! I woul much rather support a local business than a big chain. They have a decent selection of books at good prices(one third the cover price!). You can also bring in old books for a store credit, I believe she said half of their selling price. I was able to chat with the owner a bit and she recommended some books/authors for me to look at, given some of the books/authors I was already looking at. I plan on returning when I need some more books :)
