It just wasn’t what I had remembered about their fish and chips. I use to take the kids to Skippers on Wednesday nights for the All-you-can-eat. So I had some great memories of being a single mom and affording to take the kids out. But the kids were tired of it after awhile. I didn’t remember the crust being so heavy. Although, it wasn’t greasy. But, it could be that the heavy breading absorbed most of it. I’m thinking I’d better strip off the breading and just eat the fish.

I used to go to Skippers all the time for the fish. But haven’t gone in a long time. The Cole slaw and chowder was the same. Still delicious. But the fish has changed for the worst. It was okay, not great. Wish there was a better place to go closer.

One of my favorite places to get fish and chips since I was growing up in Western Washington. This location had good service, the food was well prepared, and everything was a positive. Skippers had a rough patch for several years, but I’m glad to see that they have turned that around. I definitely recommend stopping in.

I have never eaten at a skippers and I’ve been wanting to try. I actually live and work close by the this past Wednesday decided to go. I was actually excited about having a good bowl of clam chowder. I knew not to expect clam chowder from the fisherman’s but I was craving. There was only one car in the parking lot at the time. It was dead inside. You could tell it was an old restaurant but who cares if they have good food and service right? There was a gal with glasses and a blonde ponytail. Most likely in her late 40’s I would imagine. She was quiet took our order and we sat down. She gave us two heaping bowls of clam chowder man was I excited. It was sunny out and I was excited to try some soup. I sadly was very disappointed when the clam chowder tasted more like the can than actual clam chowder. A nice boy came and brought us our clam strips which were just okay. But what bugged me the most about this place was the lady and how she treated the next customers. It took me alot not to pull her aside and tell her she should be ashamed of herself and maybe this career path was not for her. A couple who seemed a but slower came in and order their meal. The wife brought the soup back and said her husband didn’t order the soup and she was just returning it. She employee was so mad she had to refund the money. The customer didn’t even ask for it back. The customer didn’t say much after returning the soup and went and sat back down. It was what happened after that really disappointed me. The gal thew the bowl in the sink as she walked by shaking her head with grief. Went into a room and got the ladies chain. She didn’t have the guts or courtesy to walk the change to the table and make sure the customers were enjoying their meal, instead she made the boy do it. I really hope she wasent the manager. I’ll never return that’s for sure.

I had the salmon burger and fries. Fries were soft lightly salted but tasted well with tartar/BBQ sauce. THEBURGERWAS decent not special but filled me up well for under seven bucks

Food is pricey. A combo goes for about ten dollars. The food is cooked fresh. It tastes decent. But too expensive when compared to ljs. And paper dispenser not working in restroom.

I really enjoyed their food! Reminded me of my childhood! Friendly staff and food is cooked really well. My only complaint is that the place looks a little bit dated and you can’t take your left overs home if you get the all you can eat baskests like you can at other locations. And when you ask for refills, it may take a little bit longer than expected because they seemed to be understaffed and get busy. Other than that I loved my visit and I definitely will return next time I’m in town.

Slow as hell, those workers act like you not there. Just doing their thing. I was waiting for my meal for over 30 min.

This restaurant has gone down hill in recent years. I rarely see any cars in the parking lot, so wonder how they stay in business. The menu is much smaller than it used to be, with few options. Prices on the drive through and inside are written in pencil and barely legible. The quantity of foods you receive is not worth the price. I got my order to go and they gave me no tartar sauce or catsup. We ordered fish and chips. They tasted good add well as the coleslaw. We also ordered shrimp. It was dry and not very tasty. If they fixed the building up(it’s not been updated since it was built many years ago) and got the film menu back, I might consider going here again. However, right now, I thinks it’s much more worth driving a few miles down the road to go to Ivar’s instead.

If you’re a pretentious, willing to wait in line, ‘gotta match my wine with the ocean my fish came from’ kinda person, then this isn’t your place. If you love good grub and lots of it, with flavors that take you back to childhood(in a good way), then make the trip. This is pretty much the only real Skipper’s left. I don’t know who the owners are, but I wish they’d get a loan and remodel the place. Just that effort alone might resurge interest. Have a little pride, clean up & train your employees, and offer Skipper’s to a new generation. They’ll love you like we do. To the guy who hated their fries and said that McD’s blew them away: Perhaps you don’t understand the concept of making fries out of potatoes? Skipper’s fries with a little peel left on are far superior to the grease sticks made out of who-knows-what that you’ve been brainwashed into eating. Just because you’re able to choke down soy by-products and pink slime doesn’t mean you should wish all other restaurants to shut down. It’s lemmings like you who have taken away so many of our choices. Keeping the original chowder, tartar sauce, and batter is what’s kept this place open. Change that, and it’s over. For me, it’s all about the chowder. Whatever you do, Skipper’s, don’t change the food. We don’t have access to anything Skipper’s in Nevada, so when I’m anywhere near Seattle, I make the drive to this one and gorge myself on chowder. Sometimes I’ll get the fish, too, but mainly as a vehicle to get the world’s best tartar into my mouth. Sorry, locals, I love Skipper’s head and shoulders above Ivar’s, always have, always will.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Skippers food. Nobody, I mean nobody fries a fish like Skippers. Their all you can eat is the best deal they have. I usually average about 6 fish fillets and 2 dozen shrimp or more, along with a coleslaw, two servings of fries, and their signature clam chowder. BUT, and a here’s a big BUT, one thing I do not like is to eat my feast while two female employees talk workplace drama. It;‘s probably not a good idea to talk crap aloud, in front of your customers, about other employees or friends that you don’t like. It’s just without tact. I eat here about 2 – 3 times per month and its not worth it to go in and hear that kind of noise and ruin the atmosphere when I eat. I would give them 10 stars because their fish and shrimp are so good, but their prices are a little high too. This isn’t exactly a bargain, but I guess with the quality it’s work almost $ 20 for an all you can eat platter. $ 12 would be a lot better in my opinion. I wouldn’t ever get anything but the skippers all you can eat platter. The other prices are just too high for a few fillets and some shrimp. But anyhow, high prices, workplace drama, and a bad atmosphere still don’t take away from how good their food is. Absolutely my favorite fish on planet earth. Although, it is deep fried. Please Skippers, work on your employee management and behavior and your restaurant would be the best. BTW its usually not too crowded in there, which is another plus if you can afford it.

the carpet is stickier, the tables are still nasty, the area around the soda machine is still«stick to your shoes», and don’t touch anything without wearing surgical gloves. But, Hey! otherwise it’s five stars all the way! Hmm… wonder what the kitchen behind the counter looks like. The clean Skippers in Burien is gone.(sigh)

Okay, this place is not for everyone. I personally love it… most of the time. The place is old, the tables often a bit sticky, well… frankly, it’s run down. All that said, I grew up eating at Skipper’s. Hell, I skipped class to eat the all you can eat fish when I was in high school. Other than the memories, the thing that really stands out to me about this place is the clam chowder. It’s different. I’ve actually taken out of town guests here with positive results… because of the chowder. It’s may not be pretty and the taste may not be for everyone but my friends love it. As far as the fish goes, I’ve only had the regular fried fish in the last few years so I can only comment on that. It’s definitely not dried out but I can’t say that I love the current batter being used. I suspect that it’s being sourced from somewhere else. I remember it being quite a bit different when I was a kid. Still, the people working there seem like they’re really trying, the fish is hot out of the fryer, and the chowder will always bring me back.

I am sorry but this place is gross. I wanted quick seafood, so I thought I would try it out. I got the grilled salmon w chowder and my husband got the fish and chips w chowder. The chowder was bland with not a lot of clam in it. It needed a lot of salt and pepper. The salmon was definitely something that was frozen. Perhaps ground salmon smashed together into a patty. While waiting for our food there were countless fruitflies all ovefr the restaurant. everything in there just felt gross and sticky. I am sure I am just not the right customer for this place. If you like froze and fried seafood, then skippers is your place. Coming from the Midwest, I expect the seafood(even fried) to still be of high quality.

I can’t believe this place got an average of 4-stars. Maybe my experience that morning just plain BLEWCHUNKS. A friend and I were randomly looking down the street for something to eat. There was the usual McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Arby’s, Taco Bell, but Skipper’s was the only place we hadn’t been. The place is ghetto, run down, and was hard to find the entrance while dodging the side of the building that smelled like rotten garbage. Upon entrance, it has a VERY dirty feel. The carpet we stood on had a deep inset grease and felt strange and slimy beneath our shoes. The tiles were dirty, the menu above had broken and faded plastic on it. I have no idea why I continued to order from the place. Clam Chowder: It was whatever. Barely acceptable. Rather than creamy, it was runny. Rather than chunky and flavorful, it was bland and hardly had any clams. Served in a GHETTO ass fake plastic ceramic bowl which I’m pretty sure was dirty. Fried Fish: BLAH. Overcooked and tough. Fried Shrimp: BLAH. Fries: BLAH. The Arby’s and Wendy’s next door blow these fries away. Skippers 5214: BLECH!!! I rarely think ANY restaurant is this bad, but Skippers was a genuinely negative restaurant experience. I looked at the few other groups of people eating here and wondered what the hell was wrong with them. I ended up paying over $ 14 too. Maybe it’s just a cozy little favorite that’s been there to warm their heart for years. Not me. I hope it closes down like all of the rest of them.

Skippers are disappearing faster than Col. Kadhaffi and I do love this standby. Servers are extremely friendly, always. Love tartar and clam strips here! Drive through time = turn car off but it is handed over hot and tasty. Frankly, this joint is a gem: can’t think of any other place close where I can even get ANY type of seafood!

We decided to check this place out because we saw the sign for the all you can eat fish and chips. The food was actually a lot better than I expected. The clam chowder was really good and the fish and chips were freshly cooked every time we ordered more. The service here was really good and the fish came up fairly quickly both times we ordered it. If you are in the mood for good fish and chips then check this place out even if it isn’t for the buffet.

I was kind of excited to come here after 2 years. Me and my boyfriend went here after a day of Sunday football hoping to receive their signature 8.99 all-you-can eat fish, chips and chowder(only cuz its a good deal, normally I have 3 pieces and im done!). This location has stopped all all-you-can-eats. Lame or what? Only thing they have is all-you-can-eat chowder, which Chris got at 4.99, and we shared a 5 piece fish and chips(which was 10.99). What a rip. Oh then to top it all off. My booboo was on the shitter all night. Thanks chowder, for ruining his evening, and mine! Though the service was great. The two well-knowledged men who were working deserve much more than a fish t-shirt. I dont think we will be back. I would have rather spent my money at Ivars on Lake Washington!
