Good food especially when you are with good company. We had not dined here in a while and decided to meet some friends. We were seated right away at 6:30 on a Friday night although the place filled up quickly after we arrived. The waitress was friendly and provided some suggestions which was helpful. When my husband mentioned an Italian favorite of his not on the menu she quickly said they could make it. They have a few selections that are on the healthier side which are quite good. Although healthy — they don’t leave you feeling deprived. They are delicious. I had the Molti Carni which is meatballs and chicken on meat sauce and sautéed spinach. Other healthy options are salmon with veggies which won’t you let you down either. Pastas are all very good as well. Wine menu is very good with full descriptions. You will definitely go home with leftovers. Servings are generous. Don’t share though — order your own, taste each others and then take it home for tomorrow! Enjoy!

This is a place I’ve eaten at a LOT over the last few years. Probably been there 30+ times. I’ve had basically everything on their menu, except seafood, which I don’t eat. The most important thing you have to know about Gregorios, in fact maybe the only thing that matters, is that they have the best pizza in Northern Virginia. Period. End of story. I am originally from NY, and I know what«real pizza» is. When I moved to Virginia I could hardly believe how terrible the pizza is down here. Not just the delivery joints, but the Italian restaurants that bragged about their pizza too. It was terrible, at every restaurant. Then one day I stumbled onto this place and got a pizza. Here’s the bottom line. It is as good as NY pizza. In fact, it is identical to NY pizza. If you fold a slice in half, you will see nice yellow oil beads form in the fold, like it’s supposed to do. They also have Sicilian slices during lunch hours, something you rarely see outside of NY, but is extremely common and popular in NY. Anyone from NY sitting at this place would be completely satisfied with the pizza, which cannot be said of ANY other pizza place in northern Virginia. 10 out of 10 for the pizza. The rest of the menu is typical neighborhood Italian restaurant fare. The pasta dishes are good, but avoid the baked ziti, which is crap and really needs to be rethought by the mgmt. All of the others are what you’d expect from pasta. The non pasta dishes are good, too. The Braised Beef Short Rib is my favorite thing on the menu, and same goes for many of the people I’ve gone there with. Prices have been creeping up in recent years, unfortunately. They are now on the cusp of moving out of «affordable neighborhood Italian joint» mode and into«Kind of expensive place that you don’t just run to whenever you don’t feel like cooking» mode. The only negative, and this is why I docked it a star, is because they are very inconsistent about Gluten Free. My wife has Celiacs so she needs 100% Gluten Free preparation. They have GF offerings on the menu and advertise as being a place that can do GF. In the old days they were very consistent about that, and she ate there about 15 times and never got sick. Something has changed in the kitchen or procedures over the last 2 years, because 3 of the last 4 times she went there, she got sick. So that’s just really unfortunate, because now she can’t risk eating there. I would say simply that if you have Celiacs you probably shouldn’t go to this place. Otherwise, it’s a very nice Italian restaurant. Service is good, and unusually, this place has retained some of the same young people for long periods of time, and they are very attentive, friendly and service-oriented.

The good: friendly staff, awesome mozzarella(probably the best I had for a while), tasty food. The bad: although the environment is cozy the weather inside the restaurant is not. I froze my $&@ off. We ate wearing our coats. We asked for a temperature adjustment but it didn’t happen. The table at the booth was too tall, at least for me and my family. My nose could easily touch the meatballs on my plate without bending too much. Pepsi :(-1 star just for this. I loved the food, but big mistake sitting at the booth. Maybe it was the particular boot. It was very uncomfortable eating here. I will give the restaurant another try(maybe bring a Coke from home) and adjust my review.

Absolutely some of the best Italian food you can get in NoVa. The restaurant is very well decorated. I have always been treated very well by every employee there. The food is incredible. My family is half Italian from NY/NJ so we know what’s good and what isn’t. It’s hard to find quality Italian food down here. I am extremely picky so it’s Ricky for me to try new things, but each time I’m pleased with what I ordered. The food comes out promptly and fresh. My dad is buddies with the owner and he really makes us feel welcome. Great place!

Gregorio’s is a fantastic family restaurant. From the bread and garlic knots to authentic Italian cuisine, you can’t go wrong here. Excellent staff and a friendly owner make for a very pleasant experience.

One of the rare places in NoVa you can find good neoplitan, New York style pizza. World’s better than 99% of local pizza places. This pizza is the real deal

These guys used to be my favorite Italian restaurant. However, the last year or so they have changed the recipes… they are not the same at all! The Chicken Marsala is less marsala and more butter and possibly some white wine. The meatballs have become so soft, its like eating baby food. The prices have gone up, and salad is no longer included as part of the meal. It is now an extra charge! The pizza is still good sometimes, but only if their ovens are hot enough.

Really want to love this place but it just continually disappoints. Sometimes the pizza is good, but more often than not it’s bad. And it’s not cheap. The last one was like cardboard and so greasy. The worst part it that somehow a $ 50DC parking ticket showed up on my credit card within 2 hours of using my card there. Coincidence? Meh. Can’t say I’ll be back.

This place has some of the best pizza around. A large cheese is $ 19, but it’s a LARGE large and each slice is almost jumbo-sized. I prefer the cheese among other pizzas because they really load it up, but the supreme is excellent as well. They have a carry-out side, bar side, and nice restaurant side, and it’s set up perfectly for all three. This is a great place for a lunch to watch a game as well as a nice date dinner. Delicious pizza and pasta and very friendly staff.

This is the only place in the Reston/Herndon area with really good pizza. Every where else really is either just BAD or acceptable. Right kind of crust, flavorful sauce, good cheese and comes out looking pretty damn good.

Came here for the first time today because I wanted to use a free entrée coupon I received in the mail. Gregorio’s did not disappoint! It wasn’t very busy but you could tell there were regulars looking comfortable at this local spot. The servers were all attentive and friendly without being overbearing. I ordered the ravioli di Gregorio’s, cheese ravioli with a tomato cream sauce, shrimp, and crab meat. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderfully. The sauce was so good that I asked for some bread to mop it up. The bread was warmed and just great for the job. I finished the meal with their tiramisu, made in house, and was quite pleased. All in all, I enjoyed my experience and will certainly come back again.

Tried the Pizza here and it was really good. A bit pricey for a large pizza but well worth it. One of my favorite places for pizza.

Terrible service! We went there for a celebration. The place was barely half full — the hostess seated us immediately. It look them 15 mins to get us a menu. After which, we sat around for another 15 mins for get water! The bus boy shoved the water in front us and walked away without saying anything else. We tried for another 10 mins to flag down a waiter to order, with no luck. We walked out soon after. Honestly, I have ever felt more insulted at restaurant before. This place is overpriced for a box pasta and sauce that you can probably make at home for $ 5, and it would taste better too! This place is a terrible excuse for a restaurant.

Wet there as part of a party for a friends birthday. I’ve waited a while to review because it sometimes depends on the memories that stay with you. This place was OK, but I’m afraid it’s just a bit American/Italian. That is Italian food but made bland by the demands of the American clientele. It’s a problem that most food in The States succumbs to. There just wasn’t a dish that wowed or left a clear and distinct memory. e.g. the tiramisu — the server cheekily stressed how the sponge had been soaked in Amaretto, but it tasted like store bought. I guess I wanted food that tastes of Italian passion and didn’t find it here.

Poor planning on my part… we went to a gun show in Va today, on VDay. We had no reservations for dinner, but we decided at 4pm that we wanted to catch dinner before our hour long drive back home. I naturally went to Open Table bc I knew most places would be booked and I wanted a sure thing. So we come here. We walk in and I explain to them about our reservation. The young guy looks at his list and says we are not on it. I again explain about open table. He says they had taken all of their reservations off, so I pull out my phone with the email confirmation. He says he will get his manager. It is 4:45 and the restaurant is empty. Maybe a few people at the bar. The kid comes back and says since we are a walk in, we have to sit in the bar area. I again explain that I made reservations and we are not walk ins. He leaves again to go get his mgr. The manager comes over and says they are all booked up and we can only sit by the bar. We are annoyed, but we do sit there. Bread comes out with marinara — the bread is good but in another Unilocal review, the person mentions this delicious olive oil dip so I request that. I’m then told that was only under previous owners and they don’t have it anymore. :( Bummer. We then order appetizers — meatballs and spinach. And place our orders for dinner. So, about 10 min later our dinner comes out. And still no appetizers. My husband reminds the waiter of our appetizers and he says he forgot but he’ll put them in to come out quick. They do. All in all, the food was actually very good. BUT the service was definitely not. The manager walked through our area twice but never stopped to check on is or to see how things turned out. The waiter was very nice but we could tell he was new and inexperienced. He forgot a couple of things(including the apps) And then I got up to go to the bathroom before we left after we paid our bill(and yes we were charged for our appetizers that didn’t come out until after our entrees) and the main dining area which –we were refused –was still more than half empty. So, food — very good. Service — not so much.

My co-worker brought her lunch to the office from Gregorio’s and the smell was phenomenal. After trying the chocolate cake she brought, I was sold! It came with a raspberry sauce, which i would normally never go for but the two go perfectly together. Since the incident I have been to Gregorio’s twice now and had only great experiences. Ask for breadsticks! They taste a little different then your usual sticks but I like it. A waiter suggested the carbonara the first time and had to get it again the second time. The food definitely fills you up but you have to the the rest to go and promise me you’ll save some room for the best chocolate cake!

My co-workers love this place, so we came here for a birthday lunch. It’s a cute setup and the service was great. I know the deal, re-branding, new chef, etc. So perhaps my meal was just a growing pain? Unfortunately my carbonara was a combo of under seasoned pasta and curdled sauce with a side of scrambled eggs(see pic). So that was disappointing. On the positive side, they do have solid bread-sticks and garlic knots. And now I need a nap.

We were on a search for Mamma Lucia, and found out that they no longer exist in the area! That’s okay, we’re open to trying new things. Gregorio’s Trattoria is a must try. New management means new menu items, right? The menu stayed the same, their POS system is still the same(it has the Mamma Lucia logo on it). First off, great décor! We arrived at 4:30pm, so it was rather quiet around the restaurant. A lot of staff were just standing around not doing much of prep/side work. Our water was courteous, so we have nothing to complain about. We were offered«garlic knots» that were dry and bland, which were served with a very sweet side of tomato sauce(definitely not marinara). Hm, bad sign here. Continued to order: Margharita Pizza Awesome dough, but not enough sauce. The ingredients tasted very fresh, and overall a delicious pizza. That bit of extra sauce would’ve balanced the very doughy base. Penne Vodka Pasta Exactly what I always ordered at Mamma Lucia’s. I mean, what great way of knowing whether new management will improve on an old menu, right? It was made too salty. I order the same bowl of pasta, and I know what to expect. Because of the prosciutto(which adds to the saltiness), the sauce could’ve used less salt! Overall, not a bad experience. But it was below«meh.» I’m definitely not coming back because I’m not impressed. I was really looking for my Italian comfort food, but found something that’s just a baby-step up from frozen pastas. Everything had an essence of being«almost there» without actually hitting that sweet spot. With that quality of food, I was also expected a much cheaper-priced option. p. s. To be honest, the Caesar Salad was the most satisfying part of the meal.
