I was visiting Dallas for my older brother’s graduation. The food and service were both great. Texas has some of the best Mexican restaurants and this quickly became one of my favorites. The only downside is the ceiling fans really work to make the place chilly. Maybe other people would appreciate it, but I am never comfortable in highly air conditioned places.

The service was wonderful. The food was great. It is a well designed space with comfortable seating, beautiful lighting and in general, just a nice space to spend time having a great meal. But as someone mentioned before, it is very loud and difficult to have a conversation.

Mena’s has a great happy hour menu and the food is served very quickly which makes them a good option for lunch. As for the food, expect decent Tex-Mex at a decent price. The service was mediocre and the atmosphere was nice. It is a little loud inside so don’t expect to have a full blown conversation while dining here.

Great place and family friendly. The prices were very reasonable and we had 5 kids under 14 and we were a bit loud but not out of place. Great family restaurant for everyone as it is a large dinning area.

This is second time trying this place. I loved the food both times! The lunch is decently priced and delicious too. I’ve had their sour cream and mole enchiladas so far. The flavors were good and the bartender is quick, nice, and helpful. I’ll be here more often.

Nice, small restaurant with excellent service and delicious salsa. The green chili salsa is amazing and worth a try for sure! I met some coworkers during happy hour, but will have to go back to try some of the entrée dishes because they look very tempting.

This was my 2nd time eating here, in from California and don’t know the area, this place is close to my ho-tel. For the past two months while here I’ve been missing and craving a certain type of burr-hee-toe. The only reason why I stopped by here this evening was, because I was hangry. The inside is pretty nice, nice and comfortable, kinda seems like a popular place for the locals. I greeted warmly by the host and politely taken to my table. With a smile and a giggle my waiter, Hugo, understand me when I asked for non-fat, gluten free, no hmo, ppo, msg water. As I sat at my table, frowning of the menu, I didn’t see the kind of burr-hee-toe I was looking for, Hugo, asked if I had any questions about the menu or what to order. I quipped quickly«can I get a chorizo and egg burr-hee-toe with Ranchero sauce? «. He looking kinda stunned that I asked for one, however since being here I’ve been missing my favorite comfort food from home. After checking with the Chef and given the thumbs up I ordered it. OMG!!! FOODGASIMTOTHEEXTREME! !!! From the first bite, I was in FOODBLISS!!! Every bite was sheer extacy, it was like my tongue was having an orgasim. This chorizo and egg burr-hee-toe was AWESOME You won’t find it on the menu, however if you ask, they just might make you one. To my waiter, Hugo, his fellow wait staff and the Chef with his crew… THANKYOU!!! for the AWESOME service and the PHENOMENALLYAWESOME Chorizo and egg burr-hee-toe. This burr-hee-toe brother definitely walked out feeling fatter, dumber and happier after enjoying my meal. You can too… Come to Mena’s and enjoy your meal.

I LOVE Mena’s. When we used to live in Richardson, we came here at least once a week because their food and service is THAT good. Now that we live in Dallas, we still come here at least once every other week because it’s still that good. Their chips and salsa are good, and I love that they bring one red salsa and one green(warm) salsa. Their chips taste homemade. We get their queso if we’re starving and it is good! Usually I only like white queso, but their yellow queso is great and topped with pico. I’ve never had better fajitas than the ones at Mena’s. The meat just doesn’t compare. They give you A LOT and you can tell it is quality meat — not like some of the small squirmy meat you get at some tex mex places. Lastly, the service. It doesn’t get better than the service here. We have a couple favorite waiters here but they are all so attentive! You can’t go wrong! Next time you’re craving tex mex but wanting a little bit better quality at the same good prices, go HERE!

First off, ask for Hugo. Our waiter was on point with chips, salsa, drinks… And everything else, but never overbearing. He really seemed to enjoy his job & taking care of customers. Second, this place had a(short) wait on a Monday. Seriously. It’s that good. My date and I both had enchiladas. She had cheese, ground beef, and chicken. I had beef fajita with ½ queso, ½ chili con carne. They were awesome. These aren’t your typical«mostly full of air to look big» enchiladas. They’re full of delicious meat. Yay meat. It’s what you pay for, and they give you plenty. …and you pay for it, but it’s cheap. Like less than $ 30 for dinner for two. Good luck getting this kind of food, and this kind of service, for that anywhere else. Ps, get a margarita for $ 4. Worth it.

The food is typical Tex Mex no better or worse than any of the many options nearby. I have met a group of friends here 3 or 4 times in the last 6 weeks or so. Last night they were a little busy but not slammed by any means. We waited 20 minutes or so to be seated and ordered a round of drinks while we waited. When we got seated it took easily 15 – 20 minutes for them to bring us chips and salsa. I wasn’t particularly paying attention to the time until someone pointed it out. Because our waiter had not returned to take our order, we finally grabbed the hostess who took our order and ultimately messed up our drink order. Then we watched as a table that was seated well after us was served their meal well before us. I wasn’t overly hungry so I ordered chicken fajita nachos. The fajita meat was great but it was clear that the nachos had been sitting for a while. They only had a hint of warmth left to them, the beans had become somewhat paste-like and the cheese had returned to a solid state from their delicious melty state. The hostess was aware of the wait for both our order to be taken and inattentiveness of our waiter, neither was acknowledged. This was certainly a situation that, in my opinion, warranted an apology from the manager on duty. But nada… With many other Tex-Mex alternatives very nearby, I doubt I will go back. Update: Despite my lack of enthusiasm at the thought of returning to Mena’s, I did with he same group of friends. I had the«healthy plate» and was very happy with the taste and the service was impeccable. As always the margaritas were awesome.

Everything about Mena’s is exceptional! I go to Mena one time a week because it has a great neighborhood feel and the staff is very welcoming. The summer sauce is my favorite on the menu! I’ve tried multiple dishes on the menu including fajitas, Jr. Plate, and Once, and all are worth ordering again! I highly recommend Mena!

My review is for tonight’s dinner. We typically are happy with the food and service. Tonight was our mother’s birthday dinner. My brother called earlier in the day to make sure they could accommodate us with a party of 10 at 7 pm. When we arrived(10 – 15 min. early), the person that took the reservation had not written down the date so a place was not available. They said it would be 15 minutes. 45 minutes later we were seated. Besides making no apology for the error, the manager made no attempt to rectify the situation, or even acknowledge that there was a celebration. In fact, he was defensive and rude. Just last week, my husband and I went to a New Mexican food restaurant in Plano named MIDIA. They said our party would be seated in 45 minutes. When that time was almost up, our friend went to check on the table, but the hostess informed us that it might be 20 more minutes. The manager quickly apologized and offered to buy us a round of cocktails. No small offer as their cocktail prices BEGIN at $ 10. We did not end up taking them up in their offer, but the gesture was appreciated. Also, the manager stopped by to apologize. Tonight, the manager NEVER said another word to us, made no such gesture, and didn’t even send the waiters to sing to our mom. My feeling is that if you do not know how to organize reservations, it may be better to say you don’t take them. That way we could’ve planned the timing better. The most unfortunate part is that we come to Mena’s regularly and really enjoy it. Tonight though, it deserved ONE star. Gracias por nada Mena’s.

Really enjoyed a catch-up dinner with my gal pal who I haven’t seen in awhile. Luckily, we decided to try Mena’s! The atmosphere is very trendy(and romantic, a good place for a date night as well). Our server was very friendly and was happy to answer our questions. With some feedback from the server and after much deliberation, I ordered a Sangria Swirl margarita and the Chile Relleno. My friend got the mango margarita on the rocks and John’s platter(or someone’s platter. I was really hungry, so I was only focused on my meal). The drinks were made with generous pours of tequila, so a big thumbs up from me! Before our food came, we were offered the standard complimentary chips with both green and red salsas. When our food arrived, we were very pleased. Mena’s comes with generous portions and I could only eat half! Only reason for the star deduction is the water glass. I differentiate 5 star vs. 4 star service by their attentiveness to my water. The server came to offer me another margarita, but never refilled my water. Obviously, he took note of my empty water glass. I had to ask 3 times before I got my refill. Luckily, I was in a good mood from my full belly and great conversation that I only deducted the one star. Definitely worth a visit!

Margarita: frozen is better here than on the rocks — and I’m the on-the-rocks kind of guy. Fajitas: Rib-eye fajitas didn’t taste like ribeye — maybe because it was cut too thin and cooked medium well? No pink inside the meat. But the meat was seasoned well. Shrimp fajitas were delicious though — very plump. Chicken was alright. Platter came with sausages and potatoes. Potatoes, not a fan — but that’s just me. Sausages are surprisingly great. Flour Tortillas: Tortillas were good, but a little too thick — but they’re also not made to order. They have a stack ready somewhere in the kitchen after making some — or that’s how it tastes, at least. Chips & Salsa: chips were good(more corn-y than usual, but thin and addicting still), salsa were also good — I preferred the green salsa, surprisingly(usually the green one is more spicy, and spicy isn’t my thing — but this one has a tangy sweet and spicy flavor). I would like to come back and try more things — but at this point, I’ll come back to try their specials.

Great location, but parking can be painful… there is a covered garage beside the restaurant which is definitely the best option. Service was very prompt and polite, food was great and the restaurant was very clean… definitely a big thumbs up! Note: lunch gets very crowded, so if you want a table be there at 11:30!

I had to try this place out! And it was great! A little pricey. But the quality is good. The waiter was nice too! I ordered the burrito and my boyfriend ordered the enchilada, tamale, and taco combo! The vibe was pretty low key– a great place to grab a drink too.

My co-workers and I come to Mena’s for lunch a lot, and it is a solid place for yummy Tex-Mex in Richardson. We often make reservations here for big groups during lunch hour, and the staff has always been very accommodating. Mena’s is a bit more upscale(think: Taco Diner or Mi Cocina style), and the menu is well-rounded. I typically order their guacamole or queso, then I top it off with a brisket entrée. Each meal has been consistently good, and my co-workers seem to enjoy theirs as well. This is our new go-to spot for Mexican grub during work hours.

This place is great! Everything from the food, the service, and décor are all top notch. The prices are also very affordable. When you first walk in, you will the notice the décor is modern and almost upscale, but don’t worry, it’s not indicative of the prices. You are brought out two salsas, both of which are good. The red was nice and chunky with onions and cilantro in it, just the way I like it. I decide to get the mole chicken enchiladas, and my girlfriend got the El Jorge plate, which is one cheese enchilada, one sour cream chicken enchilada, and one beef taco. My enchiladas were delicious! The mole was done very well, and was not overly sweet. The rice and beans were also very good. I nibbled a little bit of my girlfriend’s dish, and both of her enchiladas were right up there with the best I’ve had. If I had to make a criticism, it’s that both of hers were a little on the heavy side(the chicken was very sour creamy) and the cheese enchilada beef sauce had a little orange bleeding from it(lot’s of grease), but hey… it’s Mexican food. That said, the chips in the beginning are not greasy at all. Best of all, both of our dishes were only $ 8.50! Luckily for me, I work only about a mile away, so I can see myself coming here for lunch and after work. The happy hour specials were very competitive with $ 3.95 margaritas, and under $ 3 for beers. Will definitely be back!

Had some drinks and nosh with some friends from work here Wednesday night– it was a cool place to hang out at — great HH specials, tasty salsa and chips and pretty good service. I was happy to see they got busy for the dinner hour and they did not rush us out, We had quesadillas, guac and loaded nachos! they were pretty good! Gonna have to be on my list to revisit!

Been here several times now, and I figured out their non-Tex-Mex dishes are where its at. Not that the Tex-Mex is bad, its just we have a load of Tex-Mex joints around here, so it makes the other dishes I have tried here super good. I especially like the Chefs Special. Mole is also very good. They will put it on anything if you ask nicely. I should also mention this is one of the nicest looking Mexican restaurants I have been in in the area. Quite a beautiful room. I might go so far as to say«elegant». Service has been great too. Very friendly, knowledgable staff.

Not exactly a fan of Tex-Mex, but I liked this restaurant. Went with a group from work with a last minute reservation. Pleased that they were able to provide good service, and get us in & out in a short time frame. Décor was better than expected. Chips and salsa were decent. Everybody’s food looked so fresh and appetizing. I ordered soup & salad(rare choice for me, but I knew I was eating a big dinner later). Bean soup was tasty — full of bacon; and salad with chicken was fine. I know they are crowded at lunchtime, but we got there at 1pm and it wasn’t so bad.
