Great food. I like their while set up and quality of food. Price is pretty comparable to boiling crab but all in all it was a great time. Little to no line, low wait and friendly staff. I like their bar too!!!

Why I enjoyed Tasty Tails crawfish: 1. No line; you place your order at the counter and pay. They give you a number, then you find a seat and sit down and they bring your food to you. 2. They have unmelted butter; I’m weird and like dipping my crawfish and crab in unmelted butter. 3. There is a hand wash station right outside the restrooms, but hidden from the main dining area. 4. It was pretty tasty; the who dat sauce had pretty good flavor — it didn’t taste like they just boiled it in some Cajun seasoning and butter then served it. It had more depth and I liked the garlic chunks that was in the sauce. I don’t typically go out for crawfish because it’s more expensive than if I make it or if I go to a friend’s house for a crawfish boil. But if I had a craving, like I did today, I would definitely make the trek and shell out the cash for this place.

Food was hot and iced tea cold. Otherwise this place completely disappointed. We were excited because we love crawfish and ordered a combo with shrimp, potatoes, and corn. Unfortunately, the spice used detracted from the flavor of the seafood and we didn’t finish. Further, wet wipes need to be offered because that spice clung to our fingers and we felt like we could not get shed of it. Not a fan.

It’s not overall bad, but I expected more with them advertising their whole«Louisiana, creole, cajun«style cooking. I ordered crawfish, sausage(they don’t specify what kind of… most Louisiana sausage is andouille), corn, and red potatoes. The crawfish is boiled more in a garlic base and Asian style. If you’re looking for that authentic Louisiana Crawfish boil, this may not be for you.

Get ready to get your fingers dirty! 1lb of saucy goodness! Definitely hits the spot with quick service and a casual atmosphere! Will definitely hit the joint up, upon my next visit to Texas!

Wow! Glad to find this little gem. Delicious seafood, quick and easy. They give you a heaping helping of fries if you order them, which is always good in my book. I had the shrimp & catfish and both were great. My boyfriend had the shrimp po boy and it’s one of the first ones I have seen that doesn’t have waaaay too much bread and lettuce. You could actually taste the shrimp! We will definitely be back.

I am still a harsh critic of seafood places outside of Louisiana but this place was pretty decent. They didn’t have crawfish because they wer out of season but the Oyster Po Boy was very good and the french bread was as close as you can get outside of New Orleans. The boiled seafood was pretty good nothing to run home about but overall it was was very good. If you looking for a good gumbo avoid it. It was terrible.

I visited this particular location on an off-crawfish-season Sunday. It is, however, oyster season(or the beginning of). The crawfish at this location and the one in Plano are pretty consistent: good size and seasoning, but not sufficient in the«dipping sauce» aspect.(You crawfish lovers know what I mean.) I am somewhat of a raw oyster snob. If I detect anything remotely fishy or stale, I get nauseated and turned off immediately. The shells they were served on eminated this unpleasant fishy odor. The oysters were not fresh, not plump or juicy, and served with stale saltines. bleh. We managed to power through 10⁄12 like champs. Ambience won stars. There’s a full bar and a couple of TVs(we were there for the cowboys game). We found the selfie booth kinda cute. I may be back for crawfish one day IF I’m in the area or IF Boiling Pots burns down in a tragic fire.

Forget Boiling Crab and the ridiculous wait. Just come to Tasty Tails! I can’t decide which is better but I’m honestly leaning towards Tasty Tails. I came during happy hour on a Tuesday. The oysters were $ 1 each and $ 3 off the snow crab legs. The oysters are huge, fresh, and served on a plate of ice. The snow crab was full of meat and fresh. Even though crawfish season is over, the crawfish was still decent size! I was super surprised. I tried both the NOLA style and the Who Dat semi-spicy flavoring and they were both delicious. The NOLA style had more of a tangy taste though. The Cajun fries are addicting and definitely recommend them. Their menu is more diverse and includes items such as gumbo and po boys. They have a full bar on the right when you walk in and everything else as far as drinks and condiments go are self-serve. The environment is chill and the staff is super friendly and accommodating. I was bummed that they were out of clams but I’ll definitely be back to try it!

Everyone always tries to compare crawfish places to The Boiling Crab. Go home, Boiling Crab snobs. Tasty Tails is 5⁄5 in every aspect. The atmosphere is cool — there’s even a bar and a selfie stick corner(haha). I dig whoever makes the music playlist :) Love that I don’t have to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get quality crawfish. The menu is awesome and the food is excellent. The crawfish here is consistently huge. I mean, if you’re gonna put in all that work peeling a crawfish you want the end result to be worth it, amirite? I ordered the spiciest level you could order but it wasn’t giving me a good kick yet, albeit I’m hard to please when it comes to spice. They use fresh habanero peppers so it really all depends on the peppers they get for that day. The flavor is really good though. You can’t compare the flavor to Boiling Crab’s because it’s totally different! Also, the chicken tenders are really good. You don’t expect chicken tenders from a seafood place to be good but these are worth trying and when you dip them in their sauce — YUM! Don’t even get me started on the calamari fries. So. Friggin. Good. Cajun fries are alright — needs a bit more«Cajun.» Will hopefully have room next time to try their po-boys because those look amazing.

First time coming to the new location since I live up in the lewisville area. Located next to Alamo movie theatre. The décor is super nice compared to the food court on legacy. Just feels a lot cleaner and is super sharp. The place has a couple TVs and a full bar, but not sure if they know how to make a pissed off Japanese Minow farmer doe. The staff is super friendly and the food comes out fast. I’m not a huge seafood guy but this place something for everyone. Me and the lady got 2 lbs of crawfish, 1 shrimp, half dozen jumbo oysters, and Cajun fries. They recently changed to skinny Cajun fries, still good. Super tasty. Also had a couple different beers. Great place, come check it out. Don’t pick your nose at the bar, they got functional cameras watching.

Thank you thank you for opening a location a little closer to me! It’s located right next to Alamo Drafthouse, and would be a great place to grab a meal before/after a movie. We came about a week after the soft opening, so it wasn’t crowded at all on a Saturday night. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and clean, and there’s even a full bar inside. You order your food at the front and then they bring your food to the table. I ordered a #1 combo(1 lb crawfish, sausage, potato, corn) for myself, and the boyfriend and I split some fries and popcorn shrimp. We were all used to waiting for crawfish, so we were pleasantly surprised when our food came out within 10 – 15 mins. The first thing I noticed when I got my food was that the crawfish were huge! So big that I could even get some meat out from the claws! The flavor and quality of the crawfish are great, just like the original location. The fries and popcorn shrimp were also delicious. I was definitely happy and satisfied after the meal. :) Oh, I also noticed that they have sinks in the hallway outside of the actual bathrooms just for you to wash your hands, which I thought was genius. I’m hoping that this place doesn’t get TOO popular because I hate waiting in line for crawfish, but I’m pretty sure it’ll be hoppin’ in no time.

Tasty Tails is a seafood/Cajun restaurant that originated in the food court in an Asian shopping center in Plano but now has opened a second standalone restaurant in Richardson next to the Alamo Draft House. The result — all the problems with the old location(fighting for a table, questionable parking lot) are no more! My Overall Rating — 5 Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere — The new Tasty Tails now located in a strip mall as its own restaurant. It now has a full bar(liquor license pending on my visit), and PLENTY of tables and chairs. No more fighting and positioning for a communal table. Also, there’s more charm. The owners are from New Orleans, and there are several photos of the New Orleans area hung on the walls. They’re real photos taken by family, and that theme permeates throughout the entire restaurant. There’s also a corner with a selfie stick where you can take a photo to hash tag #tastytails. 1 Star. Service — The Tasty Tails staff is family owned, operated, and super nice. They want to make sure you get what you order, so they use a number system. Order at the counter, get a # and find a seat. When the fresh seafood is ready, it’s delivered to your table. There’s also an area for fountain drinks, again better than the original. 1 Star. Food — It’s called Tasty Tails for a reason. That reason is those succulent, tender, well-seasoned crawfish tails. I’ll say it now. IT’S THATGOOD. Their crawfish is a good size, and they have it tossed in boiled in a delicious seasoning. Lots of garlic, butter, and maybe some vegetable notes. If you like to suck the juice from the crawfish body you’ll be rewarded. It’s so delicious that I even think it’s as good as Boiling Crab. Yup, I said it — non-believers can continue to go to BC while I hit up Tasty Tails. They’re also not a one trick pony. Their sweet potato fries are crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Their fried catfish planks are large & served super-hot. Prices vary during the season, and some items are seasonal(clams). Shrimp & crab also offered, but to me the crawfish is the best. 2 Stars. Will I Return? — Heck Yes! There are about 5 places in DFW I go to for crawfish during the season. Tasty Tails is at the top of my list. The new location has better seating, is more accessible, and is the reason I’m breaking up with Boiling Crab for good. If you’re a fan of mudbugs, Tasty Tails is a required stop. 1 Star. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

So I was extremely excited when I heard that Tasty Tails was opening their own restaurant location in the Richardson area. It’s located right next to the Alamo Drafthouse and the Heena Threading Salon on Beltline and highway 75. I’ve been looking forward to going to the soft opening all week! We went on a Wednesday evening around 7:45pm and was pleased to find it not as crazy and hectic as boiling crab. The restaurant itself wasn’t too big or small. It was definitely bigger compared to Boiling Crab! You do have to order and wait in line before sitting down. We ordered the semi-spicy combo #4 which included a pound of crawfish, a pound of shrimp, 2 potatoes, 2 sausages, and 2 corns all for $ 24.99. Luckily it was a soft opening so we received 25% off of our total purchase! Unfortunately, they don’t have their liquor or beer license so you won’t be able to enjoy a beer or even byob yet. So we seated ourselves and waited about 30 minutes for our order to make its way to my table. The crawfish sauce was very flavorful and soooo good! Their«semi-spicy» turned out to be really spicy towards the end of eating everything. The size of the crawfish were huge! Also, I really liked the sausage that came with the bag. I did like how the sauce wasn’t as buttery as boiling crab which can me feel so sick after stuffing my face. Overall: Tasty Tails did meet my expectations and I will DEFINITELY return once they receive their liquor license. I highly recommend this place for everyone who loves crawfish.

I love the fact that Tasty Tails finally opened up a location that is closer to the metroplex! They’re having a special discount right now(25% off your entire order) so make sure you come try it out ASAP! Environment: This location is spotless and it’s very obvious that the employees put a lot of thought and planning into creating this vicinity. The restrooms are super clean and Tasty Tails plans to keep it that way! The sinks, soap dispensers, and paper towels are all automatic. I love how the owners paid attention to little details like these in order to make hand washing as convenient as possible. There’s also an extra sink before the male/female restroom entrances. So if you just want to wash your hands, there’s no worries about entering the restroom and taking up extra room when you don’t need to go. Very modern and hip design with lots of wood panels and a variety of tables. I also saw a really nice bar area to the right when you first walk in. I’d say this location is, hands down, better than the old one in north Plano. It’s very spacious and truly gives you a vibe of how Tasty Tails should be. Service: All the employees were ridiculously friendly. I felt that the employees treated each other with respect(huge plus) and each person inside the restaurant felt comfortable. When our food came out, we were offered extra trays, gloves, and bibs. There was so much emphasis on customer service here, and I felt very valued as a customer. Food: The food is where it gets good. And I’m honestly starting to like Tasty Tails more than Boiling Crab(dare I say it?!) The sauce is a great blend of flavors with a little more citrus compared to BC. It’s definitely not a dry rub, but they do have that available(only for crawfish though). My boyfriend and I shared The Trinity, which is a 1lb of shrimp, 1lb of crawfish, 1lb of snow crab, 2 corn, 2 sausage, 2 potatoes. As we were eating, we were planning the next time we would be back. Yes, it was that good! My favorite aspect of the order was the snow crab. Though we’ve been to the Tasty Tails in Plano several times, we never had the opportunity to get the snow crab because it was always sold out! This visit to the new location was a huge treat for us. The crab had the right amount of salt and blended well with the sauce that was provided. Also,(and this was true with the old location) their crawfish are the biggest that I’ve seen in all of DFW. I always call them«mini-lobsters». You will never be disappointed. 5⁄5 stars. There’s too many things to love about this new location. You really have to try it out for yourself and take advantage of no long line(I know it’s going to start soon when the word gets out) and the 25% off discount when you can!

My opinion might change as this place gets more crowded — but I am in love with this place! Especially since it’s 25% off right now before the grand opening — so take advantage of this! The crawfish is $ 8.99/lb, a dollar higher than The Boiling Crab but since I don’t have to wait 2 – 3 hours to get in, I’ll take it! Snow crab legs are $ 14.99/lb and hella delicious. Their«who dat» sauce is phenomenal! It has garlic in it, which is a must — who cares about your breath right?! I got the spicy level for both of the items, and it was perfect! It hit me a little — to the point where my nose was runny. The Cajun fries are good too, a little similar to Popeye’s fries. The girls at the front are really nice! I definitely want to come back, especially before the grand opening!

YES!!! Tasty Tails has opened their own place up! They are located in the same plaza as Alamo Drafthouse and Taco Joint. I’m so happy they have expanded their space and menu! While I think Boiling Crab’s Whole Shebang sauce is better tasting, Tasty Tails’s Who Dat sauce is a very close competitor. It’s less greasy, and they have less sauce in the bag than BC but it’s still garlicky and delicious! Combine that with the better location, better service, expanded menu, cleaner venue, and no line/no wait, Tasty Tails is the clear winner. I’m kinda sad to say goodbye to Boiling Crab, but I won’t miss the 2 – 3 hour waits. Lately, Boiling Crab has had to make people wait after a certain time just to wait in line for to-go orders. Thats how crazy busy BC is. You have to wait to wait in line! Tasty Tails is discounting their eating-in tabs 25% off until their grand opening, which they said would be in one or two weeks when they get their liquor license or so. That means I’m going to visit them a bunch more times for that discount because their crawfish are effing huge and juicy right now. Crawfish are $ 8.99/lb, and I saw they have soft shell crab on the menu, which I need to try next time. They also offer combo meals that bundle different crustaceans with sides to provide a value meal, which I think makes it cheaper than BC, too. Love me some Tasty Tails!

Tasty tails has always been my go to for crawfish. I’m glad they finally have their own space! It’s their soft opening and they’re offering 25% off your total bill. I asked how long this would be going on and they couldn’t give me a time window so get here quick to take advantage of the discount! We got 3 pounds of semi spicy crawfish, shrimp poboy, and cajun fries. Wow the crawfish are HUGE right now! The poboy tasted very similar to the ones I had in Louisiana before. Right now the crowds aren’t too bad but that might change soon. Same way of ordering, come inside to the counter, place your order, they give you a number, and they’ll bring your food out to you!

I’m a fan. Tried the Trinity with an extra lb of shrimp, a fried shrimp basket with sweet potato fries and a half dozen oysters(around $ 60 I think, after 25% off). I’m not a crawfish person — I watched like 4 YouTube videos before I went so I could have my eating technique down… yet again, I failed. Cut my finger cracking crab legs and almost choked after I sucked on a claw in a desperate attempt to get something out of it after 5 min of wrestling with the damn thing. Nonetheless, I love seafood and will try it all again! Who Dat Sauce(spicy) is a smidge salty — just a smidge. Heat was perfect and garlic flavor was about right. Wasn’t a fan of the oysters. Love the hand washing only area just off the dining room. I needed a full bath after my epic battle with the crustaceans. Khan(owner) came over and said hello. He said they are offering 25% off the tab during their soft opening… a sort of offset to any kinks they are working out during this initial opening phase. Friendly guy. Their Legacy location is not open now but I think he said it might re-open after a week or two. Give this place a whirl. Trinity=1 lb of crawfish, 1 lb of shrimp, snow crab cluster, 2 corn, 2 potato, 2 sausage.
