Uptown Deli

Nom. When I ordered gluten free bread, they asked if I had food allergies so they could properly accommodate, which I really appreciate. The gluten free rolls are probably hearty enough to stand up to meatballs, and while I would have preferred toast with my Broadway (roast beef, cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and I subbed in horseradish sauce), it was still delicious.
The sandwiches are a good size, and they come with slaw and a pickle. I’m not a fan of slaw, but theirs is pretty okay to me. The pickle wedge was huge, and I couldn’t finish them both. If I were to get a side salad instead, I would probably go with a half sandwich.
They also have gluten free treats (snickerdoodle and brownie when I was there).

The perfect lunch! First time here and I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Godfather sandwich, their version of an Italian sub. I am somewhat of an Italian sandwich connoisseur and let me tell you It was fantastic! Tough to find a good sandwich place sometimes. I have been searching for my go to sandwich shop since recently moving to the area and this is it! I have recently tested subway, firehouse, and Lenny’s Italian sandwiches in the area and Uptown Deli completely destroyed their competitors product. My favorite spot has been Jersey Mikes for quite a while, but this place may have just claimed the top spot.
I swapped the standard cole slaw side for Italian pasta and it was great too. Not your typical Italian dressing drenched pasta bowl either. Well seasoned with a touch of balsamic vinegar, it was delicious.
I was even pleasantly surprised when the cashier gave me a 10% military discount. I didn’t even know they offered it.

Oh my goodness! Drive the 3 minutes from the interstate and enjoy Uptown Deli. Where to begin? My husband had the chicken, pepperoni, and pepper jack cheese sandwich. I had the Reuben, by another name. So very good. Each came with a large side of cole slaw and huge dill pickle spear. I brought ½ of my sandwich with me and got ½ pound of chicken salad to take with us to the beach. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The deli clean and bright. We will definitely return. Next time, I will probably get ½ sandwich.

I was looking for something different here in Richmond Hill. I was tired of going to the chain restaurants, and I happened upon Uptown Deli on Unilocal.The good reviews encouraged me to try it. And I am not disappointed. I plan to come back here again — probably after I do some further exploring, but this is a great sandwich shop. I tried the Carnegie. It’s basically turkey, ham, Swiss cheese with thousand island dressing and coleslaw on rye. It’s quite tasty and filling. The default side is coleslaw, but you can choose a side salad, macaroni and cheese or chips in its place. It also comes with a rather large pickle spear. This restaurant is only open for lunch, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. For those who work in Richmond Hill or who might be passing through, I highly recommend Uptown Deli as a more-​desirable, local alternative to the chain restaurants.

I give this place 5 stars! It’s a nice little deli with really great sandwiches, the salads are wonderful. Recently had the dill shrimp salad & it was terrific, their portions are big, like a typical NY deli. Their hours are limited, 10 – 3 Tues-​Sat, so it’s our usual weekend lunch spot when we’re in town. Try this place for a nice deli sandwich, guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Nice change of pace from a chain sandwich shops and ingredients tasted fresh, but far from rating 5 stars. I had a cheese sub on hoagie roll. The bread was ok; not great. Tasted like something from the grocery store and not from a NY deli. For being a cheese sub, Uptown was skimpy on the main ingredient. I had two slices of cheese – provolone and mozzarella – and the slice of mozzarella was so small it was less than an afterthought. My daughter’s sandwich was the same. I went back up to the counter, explained to the man working that the amount of cheese was skimpy and essentially I had a lettuce leaf and tomato slice sandwich for $ 5.99. He told me that they put two slices on, but when I asked for a couple extra slices of provolone he brought them out –this time– and next time extra slices of cheese are $ 0.89 each. Don’t worry, there won’t be a next time.

This place has the best sandwiches for the money in the savannah area. The ingredients are super fresh and the food is made to order. I would recommend this place over Panera or Atlanta bread company.

They have Great tasting sandwiches that are worth the price when you include the sides. The quality of meat is great and they offer gluten free options for bread. Their signature sandwiches are named after New York legacies which are fitting for the Deli atmosphere. They have a good selection of chicken salads, the Waldorf is my favorite thus far. Great sense of community at this establishment as well. I will definitely continue to be a patron here.

Great food ! Awesome owners and employees ! Serve Boars Head meats and cheeses. Well worth the drive off of I-​95 for a some good, non fast food ! Just a few miles in town

Great sandwiches I got the Cuban and it was awesome. My wife had the Waldorf chicken salad sandwich and also enjoyed it. The staff is nice and the place is a great deli with boars head meat and cheese.

Great example of why I always check Unilocal when traveling. We didn’t want to subject ourselves to the usual off the Interstate Fare, so we found this place on Unilocal.
Very accurate reviews, great sandwiches and salads. I had the Trio of salads: An outstanding Waldorff salad with pretty good dill shrimp salad and spinach pasta salad. Mom ordered a half sandwich, which was just enough and very good. Keep the half sandwich in mind if you aren’t starving because these portions are HUGE. It’s killing me that I can’t remember what Hubby had which was also great (I’ll have to edit this later). They also made a custom sandwich for my kiddo, so that was perfect. The breads were so incredibly fresh too.
We’re definitely going to remember this place when we come up and down I-​95 from now on. Definitely worth the extra 3 minutes down the road to come here.

these sandwiches should come in 2 sizes… ny size and regular… the sandwich I received… though delicious… was certainly not ny style… I was going to take off a star for false advertisement but am not interested in lowering their rating as the sandwich was very pleasing to my palette.

As a native NYer, I always try to find good delis in the area. This one is excellent. Great, friendly service. Adorable décor. I had a lady liberty which is basically a French dip but on focaccia. It was delicious. The soup wasn’t my favorite, but I’ll definitely be back for sandwiches! Prices are super reasonable! There’s a large menu of signature sandwiches, so lots of variety!

Just stopped here on our way back from Disney. Place is awesome. Hit the spot. Owner is friendly. Dam those sandwiches are good!

I love a place that listens to their customers! The first time I went I asked for a Cuban and they didn’t have it… they did the research and now I get the Little Havana EVERY time I go in. These people rock and use great meats and cheeses. If you are around the Hill, check them out!
