Went to brunch at C Street on Saturday. Not sure why it took us so long to go, we were really pleased. The host and wait staff were super friendly and attentive. Food and drinks were excellent! We tried the Madagascar Old Fashioned, great vanilla twist on the classic, and a vodka, orange juice and key lime juice drink(I forget the name, unfortunately). Both were well mixed and inventive updates on traditional cocktails. For brunch, had the deep dish pancake of the day to start, butternut squash with vanilla wafers, and it was delightful. Could have easily stopped with eating my half of the pancake, it is very large, filling, and delicious. But that’s not the point of an indulgent Saturday brunch! So we also tried the Virginia Hot Brown(yum!) and the Sausage Gravy Biscuits(yum!). Honestly, the Virginia Hot Brown is like what brunch sandwich dreams are made of, a little bit of everything and it comes together perfectly. The gravy was savory with a little kick at the end. Very delicious and we left completely satisfied. Throughout the meal the staff was attentive, not overly so, friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back.

We stopped by on a rainy day. We were able to sit on the beautiful front porch, enjoy the view, and people watch. Fantastic! The food was delicious: different without being pretentious. We will definitely come back while in the Richmond area.

Such a beautiful and spacious dining place. The waiter was very polite and attentive. My friends and I went for brunch. Good food, the deep dish pancake was amazing. I had the c street Benedict and it was good as well but I can’t say that it blew me away or anything. Overall, I would totally come back

This was my first time visiting C Street for brunch, but it definitely won’t be the last! Everything was so great — I had the deep dish pancake with raspberries(excellent), which came with probably the best-seasoned home fries I’ve ever had. My girlfriend had the C Street Benedict — the first one we’ve seen with bread pudding, but it was also amazing. Really, this place was great, and not very crowded either.

This is the first time I can say that I’ve been bewildered by a dining experience. I came to C Street for brunch today. By myself. This seemed to momentarily confuse the host, whom a server had to go and ferret out. The host then asked the owner to go and seat me despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Even after all of that rigamarole I ended up just sitting at the bar. Here’s where it begins to get strange. I ordered an Old Fashioned. They gave it to me in a martini glass.(What? Why?) The flavor profile was fine but the method of delivery belied an ignorance of cocktail craft I found disconcerting in a place where an Old Fashioned is $ 12. I then ordered the stuffed French toast with a side of toast and 2 eggs, over easy. What I received was two pieces of lightly toasted bread and strange, pockmarked eggs that were plainly overdone. What runny yolk there was had migrated from the middle to the edges of the plate and congealed in the oil in which the eggs were soaked. Surprisingly these eggs were well-seasoned when I tried a bite, but the presentation was bewildering. Then, the French toast. I understand that it’s meant to be «stuffed,» but C Street’s definition of «stuffed» seemed to be sticking whipped cream between three slices of hot bread, which they stacked on top of one another like pancakes. This resulted in crispy outer edges and a soggy, curdled middle. The texture was disgusting, and I don’t say that lightly. All of this leads me to believe that the owner of C Street has no idea what he’s doing, which is a shame because the space itself is quite pretty(though underutilized in the current configuration). Won’t be returning.

No hype here!(Particularly after a disappointing meal at a very noisy, not so good, Bön Appetite«Top 50 new restaurants in the US».) The food was good. The service is a work in progress. My actual rating would be 3.5 stars. The very pleasant server in training, informed us that it was her first evening on the job and asked for our indulgence and input(which we were more than happy to provide). There were only two staff members… our server and a manager. Other than our table, there were three others for dinner… two doubles and a triple. The wine list is quite respectable! We found several of our favorites, including the absolutely yummy Field Recordings Fiction red, a bottle of which we had with our meal. I had mini crab cakes for a starter. Indeed, the three of them were mini, each being a bit larger in diameter than a half dollar. The«chipotle» sauce that accompanied was innocuous and greater in quantity than the crab cakes, which were quite tasty. My spouse had the Caesar salad, which was meh. For the mains, we had Wienerschnitzel and lamb chops, which we each found substantial and tasty. I order the chops medium, and they were. There were left overs of both orders that we thoroughly enjoyed the following days. We did not have dessert, instead opting for coffee and dessert at Chez Foushee. C Street could be absolute marvelous, with a bit of tweaking of service. We enjoyed the venue and the food. No doubt, the new server will be a gem, since she was open to comments.

Awesome brunch spot to get away from the riff raff on Cary st during the watermelon festival. The deep dish watermelon pancake was a top 5 pancake I’ve eaten in my 20s

Weirdest lunch ever. We came in and asked if they were open and the one confused guy asked if we wanted lunch(it was noon)… We were the only group there(6 adults and a child). They gave us a table for 6, perhaps assuming that the child would be standing? The waiter seemed confused and baffled by every question we asked. Two ladies ordered a Bloody Mary… what did he do? He made one Bloody Mary and gave them two straws. It was really one thing after another of disbelief. It was so awkward that we couldn’t wait to finish and leave. I mean really awkward. I was asked if I was still working on my EMPTY plate. When we all finished and paid, even the«thanks» comment was so weird that we all had to smile and nod and QUICKLY get out. So uncomfortable. The food was OK, but not great. Soggy fries, super dry pulled pork(assuming it was days old since we were the only ones there and they definitely didn’t smoke it for us).

The food here is just ok I got the deep dish pancake I like the concept but it was just ok. The service here is what really maded the stars go down. There was only 2 waitress for the whole restaurant it took for ever to get our orders. When we first got there we stood there for 15 mins and no one seated us just looked at us and eventually I spoke up and said we have reservations and then he was ok follow me. I proably wont repeat to this restaurant.

I love this place for brunch! The food is outstanding and the waitstaff is awesome. Every time we come here the food is perfect. Come here for a leisurely brunch because the good doesn’t come out quickly but when it does it is so worth the wait. If you are getting the pancake for breakfast, plan on taking at least half of it home. It’s huge. The staff is just as great as the food — so friendly and attentive! The outdoor seating is lovely too.

I really am confused at how to even write this review. C Street had one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in ages, but the service was just so terrible, I don’t know how to even rate it. I showed up a bit late to lunch to meet a friend and she was just waiting by an empty host stand. She told me a man kept noticing her but wouldn’t come over. Finally we stared long enough and he seated us. Turned out that this man was the host, server, bartender, everything for the day. The dining room was sparsely filled at 1pm. It took him a long time to approach our table to take a drink order, but we had enough time to decide on lunch as well, but he ran off to get drinks before we could even order. When he returned after a while we ordered and then waited, and waited, and waited for our food. Over an hour passed before our sandwiches were delivered. In the meantime we watched a table from outside come in to hand deliver their credit card and another table walk out because they had not been served. We heard the bell ding from the kitchen that our food was done, but our server didn’t even flinch, he stood around for a few minutes before the chef had to hand deliver the food. The food was absolutely delicious, we all agreed. My grilled cheese and sweet potato fries were the best I’ve had in a while and my two dining companions loved their massive club sandwiches. The server never really checked on us and it took him ages to bring us the bill. I would have been ok with slow service if the restaurant had been busy, but it was far from that. He was just standing around awkwardly the entire time we were there. By the time we left, we realized we had been there for close to two hours, which is just insane considering we only ordered sandwiches! I’ve been to C Street in the past, so I know this is atypical, but if any other patron in the dining room had gone for their first time, they probably would never go back! The food deserves a 4.5, but the service deserves a 0 if possible.

I don’t know why more people don’t go here?! The food is spectacular, and the menu is broad. The bar is stellar and it has the best front porch seating in Carytown. We started with an assorted cheese plate that was served with wonderful crackers and breads. Entrées of crabcakes(no filler at all) and fresh salads with grilled shrimp accompanied great wine and a few craft cocktails. We had a blast! It is never crowded, and I think it should be! We will certainly be back soon, even if no one else is there yet!

Three words: Deep. Dish. Pancake. Everything about C Street was lovely. The space boasted a clean, yet elegant style. The tables were skirted with white tablecloths and chandeliers hung low from the ceiling. The bar was bustling with girlfriends catching up and laughing over their brunch libations. T’was a happy place. It shares a building with other shops which is convenient for those who want to peruse while their food digests after a filling meal! The service was incredibly attentive without crossing the line into annoyance. I ordered a refreshing mimosa that I could tell was made with fresh squeezed OJ. For my meal, I ordered the soup du jour(red pepper bisque with crab meat) and the small quinoa and mixed greens salad. I was playing it light today, folks! And I’m so glad that I did. The soup was creamy and savory with just the right amount of shredded crab in every bite. The light, crisp salad was perfectly juxtaposed against the rich soup which made for a delightful flavor combination. The dressing, cilantro shallot vinaigrette, was refreshing and delivered just enough flavor. Now about that deep dish pancake! That’s what my friend ordered and she was gracious enough to let me try it. How impressive! How do I describe it, exactly? So, imagine what would happen if you filled a pie pan with pancake batter… pancake batter that is filled with chocolate chips, macadamia nuts, and butterscotch. I can’t make this stuff up. Next time I go I’m going to call ahead and see if that’s the special so I can indulge! Oh, C Street. Thank you for taking such good care of my girls and me during our luxurious Sunday Brunch! I’m already planning my next visit.

Lunch today was fantastic. Seafood stew of Mahi Mahi, shrimp and scallops with a bit of yellow curry. Asparagus soup with crabmeat was fantastic. Couldn’t get enough and if someone hadn’t been sitting next to me, I would have licked the bowl.

When I think brunch, I think mimosas and bloody marys. Luckily, so does C Street. And they really know how to make both. Their bloody mary is one of the best I’ve had, and their mimosas are large and delightful. And the food? The adult grilled cheese(officially called the Sottocenere al Tartufo & Fontina Grilled Cheese Sandwich) is melt-in-your-mouth good. Oozing with cheesy deliciousness, this sammy is one of those dishes that you eat slowly in order to savor every morsel. That’s how I attack it, at least. Veggies, note that it comes with pancetta, so don’t forget to have them hold it if you want a meat-free meal. I’ve tried a few other menu items that delighted my tastebuds as well, but I just keep coming back to this grilled cheese. When it’s right, it’s right. The venue itself is a little more upscale than your average restaurant — it’s a white tablecloth kind of place. They have a spacious outdoor seating area on the front porch, as well as a beautiful courtyard used for hosting private events. The interior is interesting because the building also houses a few other businesses, so when you walk to the bathroom, you walk by retail space. I’ve never explored, but it’s pretty convenient for anyone wanting to peruse a shop or visit a salon after a bite. Bottom line: the staff is friendly, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is welcoming.

My friend and I did dinner here last night and it was pretty good. Atmosphere: not much has changed since it was Acacia. The setup here is always a little awkward because the restaurant is in the lobby of a building that houses other boutiques and a hair salon. Some of the tables are almost along a hallway. We chose to sit at the bar. First off: hello $ 4 happy hour special wine. I’m not sure how long it goes, but I got two generous glasses of a nice Argentinian white and was quite pleased. To eat, my friend and I each started with the daily special watermelon gazpacho with fresh crab. This was a tasty, generous portion. I light watermelon broth was filled with lump crab, chunks of watermelon, cucumber and other tasty flavors. I think an extra zip of pepper or something would have been the only way to make it better. Either way, I’d get it again. For dinner, we split the carbonara pizza: ricotta salata, pancetta and an over easy egg on pizza. This wasn’t huge — I wouldn’t recommend splitting it without getting an app, but it was tasty. The crust was crisp and the cheese and pancetta combined nicely. Then, the runny egg just took it up one more notch. I would definitely order this again too. Another minor complaint, They didn’t have crushed red pepper flakes. I feel you can’t have pizza on your menu without red pepper. Since the soup was light and the pizza wasn’t huge, we decided to splurge on dessert — banana pudding pie. Hello deliciousness. The cake itself tasted like sweet banana bread taken up a notch, and it was topped with bits of dried banana and chocolate chips, and served with some rich French vanilla ice cream on the side. It was a perfect end to the meal. Service was attentive throughout the meal. The menu wasn’t huge, but it had a nice range of options including salads, sliders, pasta, a crawfish quesadilla, etc. I’m definitely looking forward to returning.
