They have reopened as Aky’s around the corner at 201 Tewksbury Ave. Same great food!

Good news people of Point Richmond! Café Altura is re-opening right around the corner! Well, around a couple of corners actually. New location will be on Tewksbury, sort of behind Hotel Mac, tentatively scheduled to open sometime mid to late-March, last I heard. I couldn’t be happier, since I was only lucky enough to grab lunch at their old location once before they were run off by the landlord. It was a very memorable lunch indeed(fresh and carefully prepared, reasonably priced, and served with what seemed like sincere gratitude(I know, can you believe it?)). I know this place has loyal devotees, so go ahead and rejoice!

Great outdoor eating on a warm day in Point Richmond if you can get a warm day there. Great Mediterranean café. Super friendly owner /waitress. Fresh food and great ingredients make for a wonderful lunch. I cant wait to do it again.

Really cute little café in the Point. I had an excellent tuna sandwich here the other day. Price was reasonable given the quality of the food. Service is a bit hit and miss but they are really nice so I am fine with that. Very comfortable little local spot. The hours are a bit limited and if it were open later in the day I would go there much more often.

The food was gross! And when I brought it up to the Owner… he was SUPERRUDE! I don’t eat hot Tuna and guess what he told me to do… «eat it anyways». WHAT??? No you eat it! My old job used to order sandwiches from here but, they were so rude… we quit doing business with them. I had never been in so, I thought I would give it a try. What a mistake! YUCKYUCKYUCK!

Home-made. get there early to make sure you get the soup and specials. Nice vibe inside and really nice patio where I bring my dog to meetings I attend here. Friendly. Do wish they had home made desserts too– but that might just be too much to ask.

Used to go here for lunch years ago. Super yummy sandwiches! They had items you wouldn’t see on most menus.

Pretty tasty food here. The gal who runs the joint always remembers what you want(assuming you order the same thing every time). But everything is made to order. I usually order the #2 grilled chicken sandwich which is on delicious focaccia bread with balsamic vinegar. The chicken is always cooked perfectly. Perhaps the only down side is the sandwich does not include any sides.

This is a great place for lunch — delicious ingredients, friendly service, and a wonderful outdoor patio. The number two is a tasty chicken sandwich. My coworkers and I love to have lunch when it’s sunny in the outdoor garden — a one hour get-away! The only complaint I have is that when it is a cold day the heating inside is less than adequate.

A little oasis in Point Richmond. The garden seating provides the perfect spot to unwind during lunch before heading back to work. The staff is friendly and the food is scrumptious.

dee-lightful. Yes, its lovely. The food is home cooked, home style and fresh –fresh. The patio is devine. They often have soups — which I adore. If there is no soup I get the roast turkey sandwich with a side salad $ 1.50 now. I tried a bitter lemon drink today — its like a small sized carbonated drink that is lemony with quinine. I liked it. Good place, good people.

This little spot is pretty much the homelier, version of Little Louie’s just down the street. It essentially is the same sandwich shop except with a little bit less of everything — fewer sandwiches, fewer sides, less seating, smaller portions… Nicer bathrooms though!

UPDATE: 5 Stars! Altura has made some staffing changes and they are doing a lot better! This still isn’t the place for a super-fast lunch but it’s been awhile since the wrong sandwich has arrived on my plate and the average time from placing order to chowing down has significantly decreased. Food is still the most delicious in Point Richmond, hands down! Love: Café Altura’s food. Hate: Café Altura’s service. I want to give Café Altura 5 stars but I can’t with the service. I come here incredibly frequently with coworkers and the food is consistently delicious. Well, I shouldn’t generalize, I’ve only ever ordered #2 on the menu, a grilled chicken sandwich on focaccia bread with feta cheese, red onions, tomato, and arugala. I haven’t branched out because it is SOOOOO good. Food here is 5+. Service here is a different story. The staff, like many other reviewers have mentioned is disorganized and inefficient. They are nice enough but don’t really have it together. It reminds me of how new restaurants look in the first week or two of operation. But, if you are willing to wait a little bit… and possibly correct the server when the food arrives at your table… it’s absolutely delicious.

Food is good, and the service tries hard but they are not efficient. I would say that this is closer to a deli than Mediterranean fare. I went with an Italian Sausage focaccia. Nothing really noteworthy; tasty bread, good sausage. While I was satisfied with my lunch, unfortunately for this place, there are some better options in Point Richmond for similar food. However, one plus is the outdoor seating which is nice place to hang out on a summer day. Tip: get the side salad for an additional $ 1 as it’s totally worth it.

We Went there for lunch, and as we enter the place a great ambiance of welcome surrounds you, the people are so friendly even the people who eats there are so friendly I can’t believe it I guess it’s the atmosphere over there is so inviting the aroma of the food they are preparing, you can smell the herbs and its smell so good. This is my second time Here and this time I told myself I need to give this place a review. The food that we ordered is some kind of a special of the day in which they are celebrating something im not sure, but The Fish taste so fresh the rice taste like it’s a harmony of herbs in there. They have this some kind of Vegetable cake in which you can smell the good aroma while you’re eating it, the salad is amazing. The reason that im coming back is, the Service, I think it’s a Family business, the service is very personal, and don’t take my word for it, go Check it out yourself. The place is simple but relaxing.

This Greek spot is one of my favorite in Point Richmond. It’s sort of a hole-in-the-wall place that has a nice patio in the back to eat outside. They have a delicious signature chicken sandwich and there was also something else I usually get. The bread is the best, crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside. I also grab a bag of kettle chips for the meal. The woman who works there was very helpful and loud. It’s a small cozy place. The only thing is that it’s sort of pricey, I wish that it was cheaper. It was really good food though so I don’t mind the money.
