Denny’s

It’s next to the hotel. In a blizzard, there aren’t many choices. The burger was good, but those mashed potatoes were horrifying. I should have looked at the to go order before I left. What is this gelatinous gravy on them? Ugh! The omelet I ordered for the next morning was filled with everything I asked you not to put in there. Thanks for nothing.

We were booked at candlewood which is right across the parking lot from Denny’s and it was 1:30 on a Monday morning so we HAD to give it a whirl. There was only one waitress who was running around so we seated ourselves. I hate that I don’t remember the waitress’ name because she was awesome! She kept them sweet tea refills coming. I got a yummy skillet that comes with a whole Italian sausage and boy was it good. My partner in dining crime got a grand slam with extra meat and his platter was CLEAN when we left. This is a uprated/​renovated location and it was very modern and very clean. So glad we decided to come here and not go to Waffle House which is in the opposite direction of where we came from. No complaints from us whatsoever and we will visit again if in the area.

Was stayiny at the Courtyard Hotel across the street when we realized it was even there, very short walk but worth it. As every denny’s I have eaten at, they staff was very busy but didn’t fail to take care of us. They took our order and within a few minutes we’re back out the door. Very convenient location If your looking for a bite to eat. You can always call and order in too!

We stopped by to redeem my free Birthday Grand Slam and were pleasantly surprised. My birthday is on Christmas eve, so I am not often able to take advantage of birthday only specials, but Denny’s is open 24 hrs. Do note they will ask to see your ID to confirm your birthdate.
Our server, Debbie «Sunshine» was awesome, friendly and attentive. I ordered my Grand Slam Breakfast — you get to pick out 4 b’fast items from a list (I chose eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes) and my husband ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs and hash browns. ALL of which were YUM!!! The chicken fried steak was delish, the hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft on the interior. My grand slam was typical bfast fare — good dinner style food.
While I haven’t been to a lot of Denny’s to make a wide comparison, this one feels intimate and cozy. The restaurant is smaller and has a more local diner feel. All the staff was friendly and welcoming.
All in all, I was impressed with Denny’s and we will be back. Next time I will have to try one of their yummy looking milkshakes! And perhaps we have started a Christmas Eve birthday breakfast tradition.

It was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. It took 30 minutes to be seated or for anyone to acknowledge us. Then we sat down and ordered our food. We ordered pancake puppies which were burned on the outside and undercooked on the inside. It took almost an hour to get our food and the order was completely wrong. We then asked to see a manager and were told she was too busy to come out. On top of that it was dirty. I will never go back.

I tried to eat here this morning; I say «tried» because after being seated, my group of 4 were ignored for 30 minutes. We never spoke to our server, who did look at the table a few times while attending to other tables. It’s Sunday morning; I get that you’re busy. 30 minutes without talking to a table is completely unacceptable. We got up and left, and none of the staff even seemed to care.

Sometimes, you go with something you know you shouldn’t just because it’s THERE. After some long hikes and some stressful driving the days prior, we didn’t have much energy to invest ahead of our slog back home. A quick search pulled up the few breakfast spots near our hotel, and we were checked out and in the car for the wonderfully short, short drive.
We were seated immediately and well-​serviced throughout our meal. I wish the food had been tasty (it wasn’t) and the bathrooms clean (they weren’t).
My husband and I are usually fans of the skillet breakfasts. Everything you need in a hot and hearty meal. Not so this time, sadly. Parts of the potatoes were either cold or blackened to inedible, puddles of grease pooled in areas of the skillet — it was just not fantastic. I’ll save your stomachs.
Thank you for the excellent service, but should we be back in the area, we’ll choose something different.

My experiences with Denny’s restaurants have been mixed over the years, though this one was quite pleasant.
Came here to redeem my free «birthday breakfast» offer a while back (good for anyone, just show them your ID and you get your breakfast free) and was pleasantly surprised by how good the service was. The food was excellent, as well. I personally enjoy the mix and match breakfast choices, since you can’t get pretty much anything you want of the typical fare.
If I’m in need of a good breakfast on the road, Denny’s is generally where I stop.

— They nickle and dime you for adding cheese to things. I thought we were beyond this as a breakfast society!

It really takes a LOT for me wanting to give a Restaurant ONLY 1 Star, and this was THAT time. I am NOT sure as to why I ended up at Denny’s as I was looking for something quick but good. I have been in this particular Denny’s several times, and it JUST seems each time it becomes worse and worse. OK, I know what you are saying… I am a Gluten for Punishment. Not anymore after this visit.
I ordered the Chicken fried steak with French Fries. They were NOT busy, however it took forever (15 min) for the food to reach my table… I asked the server for extra Gravy in which he brought. When he sat the plate down, he said the cook made some NEW Gravy. I looked at it and it looked like «Curdled» Milk. I am NOT kidding! The bowl with the extra Gravy looked even worse, and it was like runny water. I told the Server that this is NOT Gravy and asked if he would eat this himself. He remark back was, «I do not like Gravy». Well, I can see why…
I told him, I refuse to eat this, so he called a manager over and he took a look at what I had and said he would redo it himself as they had a NEW cook in the back. I asked him, why would you hire a cook who cannot make a BASIC Gravy for the Fried Steak?
Anyway, it came out and it was better but bland in taste. It had NO seasoning. IN addition, he brought out a bowl of Mash Potatoes. I took a taste and asked if they were «instant Potatoes»? He said yes… The potatoes were mealy and dry and also NO taste. He reserved the same fried steak with the NEW Gravy, it was like eating shoe leather… Way over cooked. The cost of the Fried Steak was almost $ 12. However, the management took 50% off of my tab.
To be honest, it was not even worth the $ 6. for the whole meal. The fries was the best part of the meal… Sorry Denny’s, I will be passing you up when I go out as there are too many places around who serve good food…

This Denny’s experience was horrible. The Waitress had us sitting around for a good 10 minutes before we got asked what we wanted to drink. After she took our order and we ate and everything she only refilled our drinks once. Then after that is was downhill from there. The waitress forgot we existed and was helping out other customers and being more attentive to them then us. A lot of people who came after us left before us got checks and were gone. We had to ask another waitress for our check and she had to tell our waitress that we wanted our check. Then she comes to the table and act like she’s been serving us all day. I will never be back at this restaurant again with this poor service.

About as good as it gets for late night dining, nachos are suprisingly good. Loaded fries pretty good. I recently got the peanut butter pancakes which were super rich and did not need additional syrup which were ok. Im thinking im not much of a breakfast person considering i prefer to eat dinner items here. The steaks, sandwiches, sizzle platters. service has always been nice here when i’ve come. Don’t have anything to complain about here, for what it is… i give it 4 stars as there are not many late night dining options other than hooters, quaker steak, fridays, waffle house and fast food

I thought all Denny’s were essentially the same, but this one stood out by smelling like pure swampass. The food was fine, not sure what the problem was with the pervasive odor in the whole place.

I am a fan of breakfast, brunch and truck stops. I am especially a fan of friendly people in the morning– friendly servers are AWESOME, and this particular Denny’s, near our hotel has TANYA who was so nice, friendly, and service oriented.
We had the usual, bacon, eggs, etc. It was hot, the coffee was good, it was inexpensive, and the friendliness was a nice touch–

It’s been many years since I’ve been to a Denny’s .We came in at 8:40am with a party of 20 and we didn’t have to wait. The was food was hot and the service friendly and fast. Moon over hammy fantastic along with a hot skillet breakfast. Good place for a quick breakfast. Give it a try.

Ahhh Denny’s… I normally HATE you because you notoriously have terrible service no matter what state (location or otherwise) I am in. However, I was pleasantly surprised at this place. Granted it’s Denny’s but you should get the baja skillet. It’s actually pretty good and you don’t feel like a complete fatty eating it because its made with egg whites and you get some real veggies (avocado, zucchini, & squash). I wish there was more avocado, totally did not look like the picture ;) but the server was super nice and my food was good. Decent place to get some cheap grubby food.

I’ve been here several times before, Only problem I have is that I wish the food was constient. Eggs didn’t seem as sunny side up as usual before. Service was always attendant. Very peace and quiet but wish food was constient every time I came in. So I am not deducting too many stars. So giving it 3 stars.

I’ve been here three times. The first was breakfast at the counter with a friend. We had awesome service, and I was supah happy.
Lately, I’ve been out haunting Richmond for late night studying/​work. Denny’s is great. It’s as expected, but it’s also consistent. In fact, even though I went two nights in a row, the server consistently didn’t remember me! But that was okay.
I’m not sure how long the promotion will last, but the Pumpkin Patch pancakes from the Hobbit menu are awesome. They are far superior to the IHOP pumpkin pancakes. Best of all, the servers don’t seem to mind if one keeps drinking Diet Coke and reading. I put down an extra buck for the time, which is more than a 10% increase. It still doesn’t feel like enough, but it’s probably better than some of their tips, I guess.
Did I mention the fluffiness of the pumpkin hobbit pancakes?

When I was eating at this location the manager came over to ask how the service was. Unfortunately, I was particularly rude to him. I didn’t like being interrupted because I was discussing strategy with a junior analyst. I feel bad for tearing the guy apart, but I was in the middle of something and I did not go to Denny’s with the intention of being surveyed. But otherwise, the food and service were perfect.

Went here for a quick and cheap breakfast and it was the best I have had in a long time. Coffee was great and the waitress made sure to keep up with refills. The new menu is definitly a plus. If you havent been in a long time, it is definitly worth trying again as I have. :)
* Reason for only 3 stars is due to my eggs being very under cooked.

Three stars for the food, four stars for the folks who were here this morning.
THE BEST Moon over my hammies EVER… the eggs was perfect and the cheese was melted all over… tons of butter on the toast… which was golden brown… yes yes yes yes yes.
We were seated immediately and before the blink of an eye there was coffee, water and a smiling waitress… I give the two waitresses in the back props… they had several large tables and were packed, but managed to keep everyone happy… they turned down the AC when someone complained about the temperature and cups of coffee were always full.
Food came out in about fifteen minutes…
This is the only Denny’s I have been to where folks order the grits… next time since I am here in the South I will have to give them a try… maybe they do them right here… back home it looks like gray rice porridge you feed sick people in Japan.
