Worst customer service ever 05÷8÷2016 @ 6:12 pm We didn’t get any greeting«Hey how are you doing? Will be right with you. Or Welcome to Dickey’s.» we weren’t even sure where to order it at. Nobody smiled nobody even greeted us there for 8 minutes I felt like they were very put out just us being there

My kids have asked to come here twice because they love barbecue, and they love free ice cream even more. First time was ok; second was disappointing. We went in around 7pm on a recent weeknight and were the only customers there. The staff were friendly enough, but it seemed like they were out of half the items we tried to order. I ended up getting chopped brisket(very gristly), mac & cheese(pasty), and Caesar salad(looked sad but tasted all right). After dinner, the ice cream machine had only enough for one cone. Since we had seen employees and their friends helping themselves to ice cream while we were eating, I was annoyed that there wasn’t enough left for the kids. We were the only people in the restaurant, so I was surprised they didn’t notice us trying to get more out of the machine. I could have asked them to refill it, but I was just ready to leave at that point. Maybe other locations are better.

Went here for a quick late lunch. There was one employee behind the counter, one in the office area and the third was sitting in the dining room at a table with her shoes off. This was my second visit, and my last. From what I have been told, this establishment is owned by the same person who owns the Broad Street location. Owner doesn’t believe in returning phone calls and management at Forest Hill is non existent. On the flip side, the manager from Broad Street is friendly and knows how to operate her location. I’ve never had a problem at that site. I just have to wonder, what would the health inspector say if they knew that an employee was wandering around the restaurant in socks while her shoes were at the table. There was also an employee from Five Guys Burgers and Fries standing outside the restaurant trying to communicate with the staff for heaven only knows what purpose. I can’t think of a single legitimate reason that he couldn’t come in and speak to whomever he needed to instead of hanging out on the sidewalk and making hand gestures through the plate glass windows. The extra trip to Broad is worth the time.

Quick and easy BBQ. The food tasted pretty mediocre, HOWEVER the amazing customer service definitely made up for it. Before finally deciding on which kind of BBQ I wanted on my plate, the staff were more than willing to give me samples of the meat. Also, the free icecream was a nice treat after my meal!

I thought i came in with my order prepared– hoping to make their jobs as easy as possible. When I asked for the daily special Iincorrectly the employee(tall, skinny, african american female, with short hair and a black polo shirt), had a hissy fit and said that wasnt the correct day for my order. Instead of offering other options or helping me order correctly and giving me a ball park total, she stared at me like I was wasting her time. I asked how much it would be for the equivalent of what I asked for since it wasnt on special. She told me each item individually without totalling them and just stared at at me again like I was wasting time so i figured it out on my own while being stared at. I then had to repeat which sandwiches I wanted and when I tried to tell her the sides she told me they werent sandwiches and shed aske me in a second for my sides aftet she was done(im sorry then dont act like youre ready for my order). I work for a place similar to this and when a custoner orders incorrectly we are supposed to be as helpful as possible. And my restaurant has more options but when a customer starts listing off items we dont tell them to shut up until we are ready. I only ordered 6 items– really, is it that hard to remember something you work with for hours every day? Food was bland and dry, good thing they had plenty of sauces.

It’s a franchise BBQ restaurant, so don’t expect anything spectacular. The buns are too big and the BBQ was too dry and tasteless. I ordered the BBQ sandwich, jalapeño beans and the Caesar salad. The meat comes out dry with no sauce, which can sometimes be a treat, but not here. I liked the BBQ sauce you could add to it. It comes in classic, sweet and spicy. I tried the classic and spicy, and preferred the spicy one the best. The jalapeño beans were good, and actually may have been better than the BBQ. The salad was very small, but it was a side item. The sweet tea was a bit too sweet for me, so I added some unsweetened to balance it out. I found it surprising a subpar BBQ joint would be able to survive in what appears to be a very high rent district, let alone attempting to compete with other great BBQ in the area. I would have to say ‘pass’ on this one. I was curious though and always like to try different BBQ places. Maybe that’s how they make it, because I can’t see anyone going back again.

Not a great experience here. For the price and for what you get, I’ll keep my BBQ dollars in the bank for somewhere else. Service was decent, people were friendly, food was just not good. I won’t go back even if they have free ice cream.

I had the Westerner with pulled pork and brisket, and sides of Mac n Cheese and baked potato casserole. The sandwich was delicious and very clean, a good change of pace from smoked meat. The BBQ sauce was a good compliment to the sandwich, I like the original and spicy mixed. This is a great place for families, especially kids eat free day on Sundays. There is also free ice cream. The sides were not good, which is why I’m not rating it above a three. Also, price for BBQ is a little high, must be how they pay for the free kid day. Good family or change of pace BBQ joint.

Average at best … Tried their ribs and BBQ sandwich. Portions were decent but the food was pretty average across the board. The sides were OK, nothing stood out. Complimentary self-serve cone is same as the ones you find at buffets.

In a word: Disappointed! Visited yesterday(Monday) afternoon. The place wasn’t busy and few people ahead of me in line so I expected to be served quickly. Wrong! The employees behind the counter expressed no interest in taking orders quickly and didn’t seem to know what to do once they took them. Between the two of them they asked what ‘sides’ I wanted three times… and still screwed the order up. The cashier was pleasant enough and did correct the order though. I sat at a table that must have been wiped with a grease-laden cloth, I guess, so promptly moved — twice. Pulled-pork plate was… mehh, mediocre, even with the addition of BBQ sauce(which I spiced up myself). Mac and cheese side was very good, but green beans way overcooked and mushy. Not a total disaster but I don’t think I’ll be visiting again.

Earlier today I made the spontaneous decision to go to Dickey’s BBQ for lunch. This is the only place that I have not been to dine in a the Stratford Hills Shopping area. I didnt know what to expect because I can be a pretty tough BBQ critic, so here goes my review. The Good: Service– Dickey’s BBQ pit is pretty much set up like Subway, Jasons Deli, Chipotle, ect. You order your food at the line, sit yourself, eat, dump your trash and leave. But the employees were very nice and knowledgable about the menu items. Portion Size– I ordered the 3 Meat Plate. With that plate came brisket, pulled pork, spicy cheddar sausage, and two sides. mac n cheese and green beans. The portion size was pretty decent. I did not feel like I was cheated out of my money after paying for it. Free Ice Cream– Need I say more? Of course you see soda fountains and condiments in the commons area, but an ice cream machine? Very nice addition. The Bad: Taste– My experience with the three meats was not very positive. The meats were dry, lacked serious flavor and did not leave me with that«wow» factor. The side items were had a better taste than the meats, but not by alot. Even the free ice cream was a miss. The free ice cream lacked sugar and cream. Price– The price for my 3 Meat Plate with a drink came out to a little over $ 15. For that price, I could go to Shanes Ribshack, and get the sampler for the same price. The sampler comes with bigger portions. Overall– When a restaurant has good service, I am always willing to give them a second chance. But the truth of the matter from my experience the food lacks flavor. There is nothing about the food that will make me say«Hey I am in the mood for BBQ today, Dickey’s is the only place I must go». But on the other hand, the portion size of the food will fill up any hungry person. If you are hungry and you are not a harsh critic of BBQ, you will enjoy this place. THREESTARS.

they ran out of ribs :( this is basically a fast food style bbq place, you order at the counter and pay and then sit wherever. but i thoroughly enjoyed the brisket and pulled pork. the spicy sauce was good and free pickles and free ice cream, yay! its a great food value for the money and the meat was very tasty not sure why so many bad posts, but i definitely enjoyed it. i will come back to try the ribs next!

Whoa! I read some of the lesser positive reviews and can’t wrap my head around it b/c I had a pretty solid experience here. This was my first dining experience at Dickeys and I heard good things about this place from my co-workers so I finally decided to check it out. We came here around 12.45 on a Friday for lunch and there were maybe 15 people dining in and it seemed kinda empty. and I was worried that this was a bad sign. After about 10 minutes of deciding what to get, I finally settled on the Big BBQ Sandwich with 2 sides. They weigh out the meat here so everyone gets an equal amount of BBQ per sandwich and the BBQ was piping hot b/c I heard the food prep person complain on how hot the meat was. lolz. Got the waffle fries which were fried to order and some cole slaw. The BBQ sandwich was very good. The meat was tender, seasoned nicely, and I dressed it with the Ranch BBQ sauce which wasn’t too sweet or tangy and the Ranch just made it that much more mouth watering. My co-worker got the spicy/sweet sauce and complained it was a bit too sweet. I only now realized though that forgot to put pickles on mine. Coleslaw was good, but I wished it was a little bit creamier and the fries were crisp and tasty. Good size portions and for the price, it may have been a bit expensive b/c it came out to $ 12 bucks including a drink. Décor is pretty Southern/BBQ themed with picnic blankets as dinner table cloth and just an overall BBQ vibe to the joint. My one complaint though was that there was an employee who was VERY loud the whole time we were there. He was just yapping away and talking to his other employees. This is a place of business and service, if you wanna chat, talk to your customers and not yell throughout the whole restaurant. * There was also a lady that came by to ask how our food was and that was a nice gesture. She was probably the owner though cause she had some Swag to her.

Service was friendly, fast and efficient nice job. Pulled Pork Sandwich was awesome lots of meat and sauces were very good. Sides, waffle fries and backed been excellent. QSC&V all above average I will definitely return next on list Brisket or Spicy Cheddar Sausage. I was pleasantly surprised based on reviews I read it was much better than expected.

I was excited to see a new BBQ place. I ordered a sliced brisket and pork platter with Mac and cheese and beans. The brisket was completely dry and flavorless, this is not Texas style beef brisket. The pork was just as dry and bland. The sides were just as dissapointing. The beans come right out of a can, there’s literally Sysco canned beans lining the walls. The Mac and cheese had a very Kraft taste to it. The service could have been much better, they made me feel like a nuisance. My order with a drink came out to almost $ 14, which is way too much for the quality for portion of food that i got.

I didn’t noticed this place here before. I saw it one time when I was going to Subway and decided to come here instead. The portions are real small but isn’t bad. I like the cole slaw here. All in all… it’s not bad but kinda pricey for the amount akatek1

My family and I went to this place on Saturday evening on the advice of my mother who had gone earlier in the week for lunch and I most say, I was not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was good. I asked the dude behind the counter what he would order and he told me to get the Westerner with polish sausage and pork barbecue. I did and it was very tasty. My son had a pulled pork sandwich, wife had the Onion Tanglers and baked potato casserole and my mother had a loaded baked potato. Everyone enjoyed the meals they got. My only negative was the coleslaw and green beans. They both needed some additional flavorings. The sauces were also good. We did enjoy the free ice cream and the free pickles. Overall the price was about average. I would definitely go back and most probably will get the ribs next time. I live about 20 minutes away. If you ask why not a five star, its because I think you should always have room for improvement.

Not a good experience. Sunday 8⁄9 The service was terrible. First they were out of Ribs and did not seem to care. Then I ordered the baked stuffers, they got the toppings all wrong because the girl putting the toppings on didn’t even know the menu. Not only did she get it all wrong, I asked for the sauce and sour cream on the side. Twice. She completely ignored me. I told her that was not what I ordered and she said well, now we’re out of potatoes so I can re-do it. It’s one thing to run out of one thing but two ?? But what really got me was the terrible attitude of the people working there. I will not be going back. That is not the kind of dining experience I am looking for.

AT first glance I liked this place — for a fast food BBQ joint it seemed pretty together. I liked the menu setup — choose your meat, choose your sides, sauce it yourself, etc. We got some chopped brisket and it looked great. Potato salad was incredibly weird though — more like cold flavored mashed potatoes — pretty sure it was made from instant potatoes. Jalapeño beans were delicious — my favorite part of my meal. I was going to rate this a solid 3-star place and worth a try if you were int he area — but then within a hour of leaving I was *violently ill*. TMI perhaps — but figured I should warn you. Too bad. Food is heavy and too processed — maybe my constitution is just too weak for so much meat? At any rate, don’t think I want to go back. Edit — the owners responded to me via message, offering to make things right. I think that was very nice of them.

AWWWFUL! My experience… Day and time: Sunday 6:30PM entrée: Ribs(spare ribs) and sliced Brisket sides: mac n cheese, baked beans, and baked potato casserole Dickey’s is a nationwide franchise and from my understanding they specialize in Texas BBQ. I’m passionate about BBQ and feel like I know more about it than most average people and I must say this place is bad. The service was not pleasant, the BBQ was bland, overcooked, and dry, the sides were not seasoned well, and if I had a dog I wouldn’t even feed it the free ice cream. I will defend this franchise and say that they might have had a bad cook or manager at the time because most establishments don’t become franchises unless they have a good product. But honestly, there is nothing in my experience that will get me to come back. The service is subway meets BBQ. You start at the line by ordering your main entrée: meats, sandwich, salad, etc., after that you go down the line and pick up your sides, then at the register you get your cup for your drink and pay for your food. This system works well for fast food or places that sell food that should be eaten at room temperature but it’s bad for BBQ. The ordering process was a bit of a shocker because I’ve never experienced that in any other BBQ place. The staff in the line were slow and not organized which was bad because I almost lost my plate to someone 3 persons behind me. The ribs I ordered were spare ribs, there isn’t any other choice, and even though they removed the membrane the rest of the product was not trimmed well. There wasn’t much of a seasoning which I can understand from the style of bbq but there wasn’t much smoke to the ribs either. The brisket was the same thing, but even though the meat was sliced the right thickness the product was dry way before it hit my plate. As far as the rest of the food, the beans had too much paprika, the baked potato casserole was simply a warm mashed potato dish. The free ice cream was cheap chinese buffet style, watery, full of ice crystals, and artificially flavored. So long story short, this place is awful
