Legend Property Group

We’ve come to the management with our concerns before writing this review only for them to disregard any responsibility. This review is in regards to the Montgomery Lofts in Downtown Suffolk ran by Legend Property Group. I have a hard time writing bad reviews but this is a well deserved one star. I think if anyone is considering living here they deserve some warning of how this company is run with a complete lack of moral standards.
We will start with the false advertisement. The ad for the loft stated that the property has a «parking garage that makes city living a breeze». Don’t be fooled, they have four spots that are currently rented out to condo owners. They don’t even have all day street parking available either. SO Monday-​Friday 10 – 6, «Legend property group cannot give you any guarantees your car won’t be towed, nor are they responsible for any fees that come from this». Also, be sure to view the property before you pay up any fees to «reserve» your loft. The floor plan for the apartment advertised UNIT 137J is advertised as a 1.5 bathroom. (This was also stated on our reservation agreement.) The loft only has one bathroom.
Under the assumption that they were an honest company, we paid a reservation fee before they could «fit us in» to see the apartment (Funny how they fit us in right after the 72 hours that would cause us to forfeit our fee). When we found out the truth, we couldn’t agree to live there. They lied about both the parking and the bathroom, the only reasons we didn’t sign a lease, however they still get to keep our reservation fee? How is that right? I’m sure it’s not legal either. They’ve refused to refund our reservation fee «because then we would have to do that for everyone»…well if the apartments were as advertised I’m sure you won’t have as many backing out of signing a lease.
Top off the cake with their customer service. Listing agent, Mckenzie, stood us up for our first visit. Then she showed up 15 minutes late to our second with the wrong key and a poor attitude. She complained to us about another renter was sitting back at her office because she wanted to read every page of the lease before she signed it, how unprofessional. Then she didn’t inform us that she had no solution for the parking situation until we showed up to sign the lease. This whole experience was nothing but a waste of time and money.

Legend is by far the worse leasing company I have ever done business with. The worst part about living in their building (Simon Cycle) is the property manager, Sonja Roberts. She is horrible at returning calls, and when you ask for her assistance she often gives snappy, short responses with an attitude. The rent is not reasonable once you consider the rats that pop up in your apartment, the AC breaking in the dead of summer, the horrible water pressure, the barely working washing machine and super thin walls. The maintenance technicians really are the most delightful and professional that I have ever come in contact with. Other than them, you are dealing with employees with horrible customer service. Stay far away from any property Sonja manages.

This is one of the worst leasing companies I’ve ever worked with in my 5 years in Richmond. Their CT Russell lofts location is a pretty run down location. It looks nice at first glance but after closely inspecting the apartment it’s not. The wooden floors creak every step, you can hear almost all your neighbors (left, right, below, and above), roaches, and windows are drafty, if not broken.
Their simon cycling building location on broad street Is a little nicer but also a few problems. Most bedrooms have no windows. If you live in the back, toward the alley, you can hear all the neighbors as well. You can hear almost every footstep above you, especially if they have a crazy dog. Stomping up and down the hallway steps and walking through the hallway. Last but not least, a couple days before I moved out, there was a huge rat running through my kitchen. I’ve had this problem before with mice when I lived next to an alley but this was a monster rat. The trash problem they have going on on out back doesn’t help. They built a little containment area for the trash cans but their still a few outside of it and trash piles up every where on the ground. It’s gross.
As far as staff, maintenance usually gets the job done, I can say that. I had an issue with accounting one month when they mistook my 5 for an 8 on a check and over charged me $ 300 for rent. The check clearly read «five» and I always turned it in for the same amount. Took a few months to fix. Sonja Roberts is a disorganized and unprofessional leasing agent, goodluck getting in contact with her for any issues, other than a random text here and there. You’ll have to stay on her to resolve issues. Don’t do business with this leasing company.
