I went to this store this evening. I was the only person there for about ½ hour and not one associate ever spoke to me. They stood in a group laughing and never said hello or offered any assistance. The worst customer service that I have ever encountered. I wish I could give it less than 1 star. They are very limited on their merchandise and sizes. Shop online

Extremely pleased with their life time guarantee policy. Was able to return a 10 year old rain jacket that had gotten holes in it for the cash equivalent to the original purchase price. There are very few companies like this today. I will be a lifetime customer for that aspect alone.

I stopped by L.L.Bean store while at Short Pump Mall. It’s one of the new stores added. L.L.Bean is located in the food court space(food court moved at mall). The store is usually busy on weekends. L.L.Bean boot selection is limited compared to online. If you’re looking for other L.L.Bean items, the selection is decent. Service was average. L.L.Bean is a good choice if you’re impulse buying things.

With Gift certificate in hand I could not find a sinless item to buy. The colors are drab to flat out ugly, the styling seems dated. Modt of whst I sae in wool was the infrrior lambs wool. I have only seen merino wool used for clothing, The clothes just look cheap compared to Marmont Patagonia Mountain Hardware even North Face has it on them. They had better as least improve the dyes or color patterns or they will be gone.

I was so excited to finally have an L.L. Bean close to me. When they finally opened the doors in Short Pump I knew I was destine for a pair of duck boots. Being that I work in the same mall I figured I would stop by on a break to get my boots and strut back to work to show them off. Here’s where the story falls off. I took my break and go upstairs to the store to get my boots. Walk in and am asked if I need help. Good start so far. I ask them to show me to the duck boots and they proceed to show me where they were. I was then greeted by a young lady that asked me what I was looking for in particular. I saw the boots I wanted and also saw boots I was going to get my wife. As I point to the boots that I do desperately want I am then told that they are, verbatim, «very expensive» and«you sure you don’t want to try a cheaper pair». There was no more excitement at that moment just shame, embarrassment and disbelief at the statement. I then decided that the boots obviously weren’t meant for me. Is this what L.L. Bean teaches their employees? What manner of business is this? This has been a scarring experience. I don’t see myself purchasing anything from the company being that it is «very expensive».

LL Bean… should be some cool stuff in this new store at Short Pump, but there is not. Nothing you can’t find somewhere else. Bean Boots you say? Well, good luck. They are out of most everything and I found out one of the reasons the evening of 18 November. I was checking in for 3rd time since they opened on a boot(still out of stock) when I heard girl working there tell another customer that they only received NINE in of a boot customer wanted and that EMPLOYEES bought SIX of what was in stock. Are you kidding me? There is limited stock and the store is letting employees have first go at it!!! So, since the store was out of stock, I ordered my boots online. Felt a little short so I took to store to return. I bought with PayPal on LL Bean site and for refund they wanted to either give me a gift card or send me a check in 10 business days(which in real people time is at least two weeks). Let me get this straight… I paid you basically with cash at the time I ordered and you want to refund me with a store gift card or a check that will take a couple of weeks. I think not! Fortunately, clerk called manager who agreed to credit back to my credit card instead. That was nice, and manager was very professional. Too professional. How so? No smile, nothing. Very rigid and almost script like. My gosh people, this is not New England, this is Richmond. Folks here appreciate a smile or two :-) One last thing, those Bean Boots you see all the girls wearing with their black leggings. There is no lining in them, just a rubber boot that will not keep your feet warm without some great socks. If you want a boot with a lining it cost you extra money. These boots are likely made by injecting rubber into a mold then the leather upper is sewn on. They may last you a long time but so will the rubber boots I paid $ 20 for at Wally World that I use when the yard is muddy. So far I’ve had them 12 years. All in all, LL Bean at Short Pump is no big deal. Nothing new, nothing exciting and the boots everyone wants the employees get first shot at even when there’s limited stock. Also, don’t accept a gift card or check in refund when you have paid them using PayPal. PayPal did not make them wait 10 business days to get paid.

It’s LL Bean but nothing like other LL Bean stores that I’ve shopped. While the selection is limited, there’s more to choose from for men than women. The shoe and luggage collection is very limited. The staff are friendly and willing to help you order online if it’s not in the store. This location is great for going in to try on items for sizing or to return an online order. This store didn’t seem to be well planned although we knew for almost a year that it was coming. A separate location down the street could have been larger with more items. I’ll continue shopping online!
