Just had some apps and happy hour drinks before a kickball game. We tried the calamari which was pretty good but a little salty. We also tried the buffalo chicken quesadilla. It was ok. The bottom line is this place has decent bar food. Not great but decent. The drinks were so good though. Great beer selection. They also make these things called crushes which blend fruit, vodka, and orange juice. I tried the honey habenero and the wild berry. Both were tasty and different but the wild berry was the best. Be sure to ask about happy hour specials. I don’t know all the details but it seemed like the had some good deals. For an hour of their happy hour, I think they serve back with every order. Bacon! Seems dangerous…

A fun friendly atmosphere in an open setting in «The Bottom» where very few inviting establishments exist, particularly on 18th st. The food is great, the bartenders are fast and welcoming and the patrons are warm and diverse. I’ve patronized every bar on 18th and along with McCormick’s Irish Pub this place is the only other establishment I would spend money at again

I liked the atmosphere but was not a huge fan of my food. I had the cheesecake French toast which was mode like French toast and strawberry crème cheese. My significant other had steak and eggs which he enjoyed. I would go back and try something else but I’m a little disappointed in the expectation I had for my meal this morning being that French toast and cheesecake are two of my favorite things.

Great food, drinks, and customer service! I will definitely be coming back :) Its my first time here and I feel that I found a new spot for date night! It is very quiet during the weekdays, so the service will most definitely be quicker. I highly recommend!

This place is the balls and the taint. All the food is fantastic I’ve never waited for a table or longer than 15 minutes for food and they have $ 10 pitchers of mimosas.

This place is everything. The food is amazing. Everything they serve is so good. I visited my husband for a weekend and, we came here Saturday and Sunday because it was so good. 10 dollar pitchers of mimosas are a definite plus too

I have been to this bar/restaurant several times and have had good food. I had THEWORSE appetizer,(Cordon Bleu Poppers) I have ever eaten… in fact, I didn’t eat it! I have NEVER not eaten my food. There was a nasty taste and texture to this; there is NO way there was ham, chicken or cheese in this. The«side» salad I ordered was drenched in dressing, possibly balsamic. I didn’t eat that either. VERYDISAPPOINTED in this outing. The waiter was well aware that I didn’t like it. He did offer to make me something else AFTER he presented the bill to me. I was there with 8 other people. They had no complaints on the Quesadilla or the Mac and Cheese. I am still perplexed on what was in those poppers. On a good note… The drinks were excellent.

The drinks and food here are amazing. We shared nachos and fell in love. My friend and I visited for a paint nite and it was a lot of fun. The staff was very friendly and provided us with prompt service. I can’t wait to return especially since it is really close to my house.

Extensive beer list and the food is exceptional. The best french fries around(fried in duck fat for $ 2 more is really worth it!). Really fair prices on everything. Helpful staff and good service. They have lots of TVs so it works as a sports bar, but they also have a back room which is great for live music. Versatile spot that’s great for food, drinks, and entertainment.

Great food friendly staff(even though some of them are slower than molasses). This is the one place in Richmond but I’ve been to more than once.

On the Rox is your typical neighborhood sports bar. And in no way is that depressing. This place is awesome. The staff is great, the drinks are cheap, and everyone is friendly. I just moved here. Strangers will talk to you at On the Rox. It’s just that kind of place. Stop by. Introduce yourself.

Talk about a literally hidden gem as far as a good bar spot. To call the front of the restaurant unpronounced is an understatement; when I met up with a friend there for the first time, I walked right past the front door! But it was well worth that initial embarrassment once I got to the bar. A very laid back feel while still having class, making it an equally solid choice to either catch the game or just grab a drink with a friend. The bartender Chris was stellar, asking what kind of wine I like and then letting me try multiple kinds before I actually ordered a glass.

This is a great spot for watching games, but also for dancing(so I’ve heard). We caught some MNF here(one of the worst prime-time games this season unfortunately). The waitress was always checking in with us, a plus. And our soda & water cups were never empty. The fish & chips are a must. The fries are a bit salty for my taste, but the fish just melts in your mouth. Actually it falls apart as you’re carrying it to your mouth. Very very tasty. The Angus burger(with bacon & cheese) is juicy. It is one good burger, and from what I hear the ROX Brunch Burger is a must — I almost ordered that myself. I think I will definitely come back here next time I want to enjoy a crazy day of football, and some good burgers.

This is one of those typical American bar/restaurant type of places in the bottom; very similar to station 2 as far as food and atmosphere. We came here for dinner and this place was not really busy(Thursday night) and it was Trivia night too so possibly we came early? I think I am on my quest to find the best chicken tenders in RVA and that’s exactly what I got here. I asked for ranch as my dipping sauce and there was no extra charge like some places *cough* Gus *cough*. The Tenders were pretty average and they didn’t impress me but they also didn’t disappoint. The service was also okay and our waitress handled our group of 5 pretty well checking up on us and giving us checks in a timely manner. This place was so slow that one of the managers actually came by to fill up our drinks as well. I guess this is more of a place to get drinks than food because of the name. SN: Please check in on Unilocal! you get 25% off your total check(excluding drinks).

I went here on a Tuesday for happy hour. The drinks were great and it happened to be $ 5 burger night. Maybe it was the alcohol but the the bacon cheeseburger was one of the best burgers I’d had in a while. I also had a mango crush and some other cocktails. I sat at the bar and the staff was really nice but it wasn’t much of a crowd around 7. There were maybe 7or 8 people but I’ll definitely be back.

This place hasn’t so much gone downhill as it’s fallen off a cliff. When it first opened, I was impressed as it’s a pretty nice looking place, and judging by their menu and execution, it seemed like they were trying to elevate bar food and offer a better experience. Unfortunately, this place is being pretty mismanaged, it would seem. The first thing I noticed when I sat down was the unwashed citrus press right in front of my face. Citrus presses are great — it’s tough to beat a freshly crushed grapefruit in a greyhound — but in the heat of summer, an unwashed citrus press with rotting fruit pulp on it is a magnet for fruit flies, and that’s just what were lazily flying in and out of the device, right in front of my face, probably laying eggs in the thing. For some reason, I stayed, which was a mistake, as fruit flies really kind of kill my opinion of a place. I ordered the fish and chips, because I had a burger for lunch and I like fish and chips. They gave me frozen fish nuggets on a bed of ultra-greasy fries, with a side of weird-tasting ketchup and sriracha tartar sauce or something — far from what anyone wants with fish and chips. I asked for some salt and vinegar and got like squeeze packets of vinegar. Wonderful. Fish an chips is like the easiest thing in the world to make. Batter a piece of cod. Drop it in a deep fryer. Serve with fries, salt, vinegar and tartar sauce. Done. Why they are offering frozen fish nuggets with sriracha mayonnaise/tartar is beyond me. Who the hell wants that? We also ordered«award winning» smoked chili buffalo wings. What award these won, I can’t fathom. They weren’t good, but flavorless with like a sriracha aioli or something drizzled on them, served on top of diced celery(???). Ordered as an appetizer, these were served after our food. Finally, the terrible, loud music. Like just awful, insipid pop music. I don’t understand this place. They can’t be making money. They should just close, if this is the experience they’re offering people.

Got a Living Social coupon to use here… and it expired because I went for brunch one day and didn’t order enough to even make use of the amount on the coupon. Brunch was okay, but not a standout experience. The menu wasn’t all that inspiring either. Service was okay. Just another spot in the Bottom. Seems like a place to go with a bunch of friends to get ripped rather than with just one person and have a good meal.

I was in Richmond on business and knew the downtown area had an up and coming restaurant area so I drove around and looked at some Unilocal Reviews So lucky and happy that I found On the Rox. Drinks: in addition to having a full bar and and a great beer selection they have a house specialty that is made with fresh squeezed orange juice… I had a mango infused special cocktail that was amazing!!! Food: Great food selection! Different interesting choices I had a brisket roll. YUMMY! It was really hard to make a selection. Such great options. Staff: starting with the manager, their staff was fantastic. The servers and bartenders were very pleasant, knowledgeable about what they served and work hard to make sure that everyone has an enjoyable time Great price for a great product and experience And lucky me. It was karaōke night– great fun

We came here for a Groupon Brunch for four. We was in town for the Richmond Wine Expo this past Saturday. I like how you can seat yourself once you come in. The atmosphere is cool, modern, hipsters type of place. They played old rock/current which I didn’t mind at all. I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was delicious!!! I was so happy and full, we also ordered the mimosas pitcher which can serve six drinks with ice in the glass. I will definitely come back here again when I’m back in town.

Wow — big surprise! First of all — this place looks like a whole lot of nothing(at least in the early hours). It appears to be a dive off a run-down street. Came here for an early morning sports event(8am) and sat at the bar. There are TONS of TVs all over the place, although some tables pressed up against the walls would have a poor view. The bar was a great choice for game viewing. There was a big group doing a buffet deal. I ordered off the regular menu and had the chocolate pancakes. Are you kidding me? These are right up there in my top 5 best pancakes I’ve ever had. Covered in BACONCRUMBLES. So good. Bartender also introduced me to my new favorite pumpkin beer: the Southern Tier Pumking. All the staff we interacted with were friendly, fun, and down-to-earth. I failed to remember to use my Unilocal check-in deal — don’t be like me! Had a great time here, would definitely return in the future.
