I have visited Pie a few times for drinking and a few times to eat. I typically order a pizza or cheese bread if I am eating there. Always seems to be good food. Haven’t really strayed far from those two food choices. It is very convenient to where I live and easy to get to if I am starving and don’t want to wait for a delivery. I tend to stay downstairs since I am not a smoker but every now and then I will venture upstairs if it’s late at night and my friends feel like drinking up there. My roommate practically lives here so anytime he wants me to go drink with him, this is where we end up. The bartenders and staff are always friendly.

Look… I’m not going to lie. This place is a hole in the wall. Literally. They run out of food occasionally. The bathroom has seen better days. The interior is nothing to brag about… but this is one of those places that has CHARACTER. You never know who you’ll see or what kind of conversations you’ll overhear. The food is absolutely amazing. It’s true– if you don’t go around 6 or 7pm on $ 1 burger night, you might not get a burger. If you do get there early enough, though, it is totally worth it. They have an ever changing staff but everyone they hire is amazing, friendly and will do anything to make the customers happy. The pizzas are to die for and if you don’t want all the toppings, don’t knock the $ 6 cheesy bread. Perfect bar snack. It’s definitely a casual college style place, for the 20 – 30 something crowd. The music changes based on what the bartenders want to listen to and it’s not unusual to hear Destiny’s Child blaring from upstairs and Youth Lagoon downstairs. You’re also not going to get fancy drinks with all the trimmings, but if you want a Tecate or a whiskey diet you’ll be just fine. Don’t let the bad reviews fool you. If you need a stiff drink on a late evening in the Fan, or if you want a good pizza and good conversation and don’t mind a wait, Pie is worth coming to. This spot has so much potential, but for what it is, it gets the job done.

I come here pretty often as a 28 year old with my cousin every now and again. It’s for young people in college but the service is decent and very friendly. Upstairs you can smoke and the pizza is fine. It ain’t no place for taking a date with pretty sexy lips or long legged beauties with long skirts. It for Havin a beer and growin facial hair. Listen to Dmx or blink-182. Be in & be out.

Disappointing… both in food and atmosphere.

The pizza is pretty darn good. I think Tuesday is half off pizza night? Don’t quote me, but definitely take advantage of their half off pizza night if they are still doing that– totally worth it! The fries aren’t that great, I’d forgo those the next time around. Kind of a divey bar atmosphere probably not the best for kids.

Idk if this is gonna show up on recommended reviews, cuz this is my first one. But I hope you read this anyway. I’ve been going to Pie for over a year. For a period of about 7 months, I was going five times a week. Pie was my joint. Don’t get me wrong, the bartenders rock. Andy, Sheena, Jon, Eric, Jena, Corinne, Kelly, Evan, Shane, Ryan. They’re all dope. If you get them, tip them well. Unfortunately, most of them no longer work there. Know why? It’s not worth their time. Cuz the owner, Mo, sucks. If it’s food you’re looking for, here’s a reason not to go: I used to be able to get a dank plate of cheesy, bacon-covered fries for $ 7. Don’t sound like it’s worth it? It was. But the owner, Mo, in addition to changing almost the entire(awesome) bar staff, has changed the menu as well. For the same order, you’ll now get 20 fries covered in plastic-wrapped cheese, and burnt bacon. It made me wanna vomit, and I’m betting it’ll make you wanna up-chuck too. Once upon a time, Pie was THE Fan hole-in-the wall. Now it’s just a cumdumpster in search of a new pimp.

With it’s ever-rotating door of bartenders, it’s pretty hard to get a good rapport with this place. They’re also always updating the layout of the downstairs so there’s less seating. The food, however, is good. The best bet is to go Thursday nights when they have karaōke or Saturday nights when they have a stand up comedy show.

Awful. Under staffed to a level I have rarely witnessed. Waiter was surprised we ordered food. Wrong order. Undercooked pizza. Hair in my fries. Out of all beer on tap. Please avoid unless you are having a just a PBR.

Ick — too much crust/not enough toppings, tastes like it comes from frozen. Only worth it on Tuesdays for ½ price night. Worth the extra money to go to Belmont or 8 ½/

Came here to drink, smoking upstairs how awesome. LOTS of chicks. The bartender was a bitch but maybe she had a bad night.

What. The waitress didn’t know what any of the drinks we were ordering even were. They had no energy drinks for making mixed drinks, no pineapple juice. Couldn’t make my friend a white Russian. It was cheap burger night and no one was there. They ran out of burgers before 9PM. They ran out of french fries. Why is this place even open?

I really wanted to like this place. I was excited to get half off pizza on Tuesday, and it seemed like a nice place. We ordered a pizza, and asked if we could get it without pepperoni, since we’re vegetarian. They said yes, but when they brought the pizza, there was pepperoni on it. We told them what happened and they said they’d fix it. But instead of making us a new pizza, they just pulled off the pepperoni. I could still see the little grease pools where the pepperoni had been. It was kind of gross, especially since I’m a vegetarian, but we ate it anyway because we didn’t want to complain. It was fine, but I definitely wouldn’t go there again. The bar is nice thought, and the drinks are reasonably priced. I’d go for drinks, but not for dinner.

Every time I come to Richmond, I make it a point to stop and eat here. I have had pizza from all over the east coast and this is by far my favorite. It’s also located in a perfect place to walk with a date in Old Town Richmond, so it makes for a perfect date night. Great food and atmosphere, I’ll be back, same time next year!!!

The pizza here is delicous! In addition, you cannot go wrong with the $ 1.00 burgers. They have recently added an additional TV if you are looking for a low-key place to watch the local NFL Sunday football game. The staff and bartenders are really great and wll make you feel right at home. Go!

I really enjoy the occasional stop at Pie. I am not a smoker, so I don’t go upstairs but instead sit in the bar on the main level, talking to locals and people of all ages and catching up with the bartender Henry. My favorite thing to order is the cheese bread w/marinara dipping sauce. They also have a superb mediterranean style pizza with olives and feta and other deliciousness. I will definitely be back. OH! And you should do yourself a favor and order one of Henry’s Cinnamon Applesauce shots.

This is for manchester location. I went a couple weeks ago, i guess before the bar opened up, cause my roommate said it was pretty solid. Thoroughly dissapointed. I was told«slices» come out as personal pies, but that didnt happen. Took me like 15−20min to put my order in at the counter, and since the deep fryer/pizza oven is open to public view, these guys clearly saw someone standing there for 15−20min and did nothing. Granted they were acting busy, but still man. I freaking see you, you see me, ive been standing here for awhile, Take my money! pie is nothing special. Tasted like something I could’ve microwaved. Limited seating. Wings are frozen. Probably won’t go back, unless they’ve dramatically improved and someone comes over with a slice so I can try for free cause I won’t be spending my money there.

Pie was very good! Cute atmosphere, beers were on special at the time(6:30 on a Tuesday, although I can’t remember the deal). We got the Clemenza pizza, which comes with feta, black olives, tomatoes, and onions. It was delicious! The crust is thin, but not crispy. It was definitely big enough for two people to split. I’d definitely go back again; I’d like to try the Virgil Sollozzo(buffalo chicken pizza). Overall, I was impressed!

A group of us fell in to plans very last minute and decided to go to dinner. At 6 pm on a Thursday night our original pick didn’t have room for our 6 top(oh the joys of living in the fan). So we walked to Pie to try some of their pizza. I had heard good things but the Unilocal reviews left much to be desired and I like to rely on these when possible. I was glad i didn’t listen. We happened to show up for $ 10 pizza night and made it in time for some drink happy hour prices. The pizza was HUGE for a personal pizza. I had leftovers for two more meals. I was glad i paid the extra $ 2 for the deep dish(i had a bite of the thin crust and it just wasn’t as good) so i would suggest this unless you are a true thin crust die hard. Give it a try — and if you had a bad experience, try it again and get something different.

Two new favorite drinks? Cucumber Gimlet and Gin Basil Sensation from Pie. If you like gimlets and you like cucumber, then the first one should be a no-brainer. The second is a tad more interesting, but again, if you like basil then you’ll probably be a fan. Both of these cocktails are refreshing and full of flavor — I’ll definitely be ordering them again(and most likely trying to create them at home). A friend and I stopped in to grab a take-out pizza on Friday night. Neither of us had been to Pie and we both wanted to check it out. It was probably around 9 — 9:15pm when we walked in, and the downstairs was empty. I was surprised, until I realized that everyone was upstairs. Downstairs is the dining room, upstairs is the bar. We placed our to-go order of the Cory Pete-za(thin crust topped with marinara, mozzarella, spinach, mushrooms, garlic, basil, and crushed red pepper to give it a little zing) and then headed upstairs to sip on drinks while we waited. The bar is super cute! Pretty small, but totally adorable. I could definitely see myself hanging out there again, except it might be more of a day place for me. They allow smoking after a certain time(maybe 10pm?) and my body’s really sensitive when it comes to the cigs. But aside from that, I’m a definite fan of the atmosphere(cozy), the service(friendly and genuine), the cocktails(see above), and the pizza(so incredibly delicious). If you like thin crust, you have to try Pie! I believe they also offer a deep dish option for an additional charge, but I’m a crunchy crust fan so the thin is right on the money for me. We ended up eating a few slices at the bar before taking the rest home. One pizza split between two was the perfect dinner for me and my friend. The pizza’s not huge and half totally satisfied my appetite without making me feel too stuffed(note: I was hungry and this was my only dinner. no salad or anything to accompany the pizza). I look forward to visiting Pie again for another pizza creation and my two new favorite drinks!

After reading some great reviews of this place, my hubby and I went to check it out on Friday night… The good part was that it was mostly empty so we got a table right away, and we had very nice service– fast, reliable, and friendly for sure. The bad part was that the menu was definitely weak and didn’t match the upscale trendy ambiance of the restaurant– it was basically a menu you could find at any sub shop downtown– chicken philly cheesesteaks, waffle fries, mozzarella sticks and nachos for appetizers… you get the idea. The only thing unique on the menu was the pizzas… so I ordered a white pizza with fresh tomatoes on it. And was disappointed that it was nothing special. They drizzled it with good olive oil, which was pleasant… But you can get pizza like that at a couple other places in Richmond– Tarrants makes a pizza very similar to Pies… same price, same size, same quality. Though I’m not a fan of the guy who owns it, I have to say that I’d rather get pizza from Stuzzi than Pie, any night.
