This location has a curious tendency to omit things from your order. For instance, you get home and find they forgot the biscuit, or sauce. This has happened with me on multiple occasions which is a shame as they have a nice-looking menu

My wife loves Popeye’s chicken. She used to be a KFC fanatic, but these guys have taken over as her go to fried chicken destination. The management and staff have always been courteous, pleasant & polite. We have gone there so much that everyone is starting to recognize us by our our faces. Keep up the great work.

Feb 12,2016 at noon. Whoever the male manager who takes order for drive thru is rude as hell. Just take a day off if you don’t feel like to work. One last note– even if you are a rude person in reality, you don’t need to reveal it to your customers. please understand that you are working and you can’t be like that when you are on duty. From a management perspective, you are not a suitable person to take drive thru orders. Let the younger rep to take the orders for you. The customer in front of me repeated her order 3 times but you still couldn’t get it. U had similar issue when u took my order. Since the drive thru cashier is not authorized to make changes to the order, she needs to wait for you to swipe your card. It increases the lead time because you are«helping» another customer. You create angry customers from the way you talk. Please do yourself and the RVA community a small flavor –send yourself back to training. Geez.

First time visiting this location, clean, fast service, friendly. Problem is my $ 10 meal was horrible and I ended up throwing most of it away. The chicken strips were so over cooked and because they are not thick to begin with they were dried up. The fries were ok, but the green beans were blahhhhhh nasty. Very disappointed. Service A, food F.

This is my first time ever having Popeyes chicken. I hope this restaurant is just an exception, because it was a terrible experience. We went through the drive-thru and ordered two chicken tender meals: one spicy with onion rings and the other regular with Cajun fries. the person operating the drive thru was rude as hell. we got to the window and it wasn’t any better. the woman at the window was very curt and after we got our food and drinks she was handing me my receipt out the window and dropped both copies, sending them flying beyond my reach. instead of offering to print another copy she looks at me and very in-genuinely mumbles«sorry.» we asked for some sauces, and in the bottom of the bag was ONE bbq sauce.(for two meals?) and apparently they don’t have honey mustard… just some kind of Dijon type mustard. the worst part of it all: we get all the way home and realize there is only chicken tenders in one of the boxes. no onion rings. needless to say we were furious but we were not about to drive 20 minutes back to hear another mumbled«sorry.» and have our food spit in. won’t be going back!

First time at Popeye’s. Special request from the son to try it. Pretty good. Light crispy crust, decent choices for dips. Lots of sides, the fries were nice. Tasty biscuits. I had the beer can chicken combo, but they were out of the cayenne dipping sauce, which is odd since every window in the joint was plastered with Beer Can Chicken signs that touted the Cayenne Dipping Sauce. Someone blew it. Still, the chicken was tasty, and my son claims that he thinks it is better than the place we usually go(rhymes with Trees.) Over all a good experience.

First, I would like to make it known that this review is reflective of the customer service at this establishment. The food served here is usually up to par. However, in at least five visits(drive-thru only), we have never gotten satisfactory customer service. A number of issues: * Drive-thru window faces traffic on a very busy street. The order-takers can almost never hear what the customer is saying. Last night, on our most recent visit, the order-taker just stopped talking to us at all. It was very unprofessional. * We have never received the correct order at this location. Last night, we had drive back to the restaurant and go inside to collect the missing half of our order. Once inside, we had to wait 15 minutes behind several others who were there trying to do the same thing. * No one will answer the telephone. We tried to call ahead to prepare the the staff for our return to collect our missing items, but there was no response. We have visited other locations in our area. The Atlee/Mechanicsville location has never presented us with these types of problems. Even though it is a little bit further away from our home, we will opt to go to that location when we choose Popeye’s again.

I prefer Popeyes to any other fried chicken chain restaurants! They are my go to fried chicken :) Food — I always get the spicy fried chicken with mashed potatoes and it never disappoints. The menu is pretty universal to all the other fried chicken restaurants, just the quality is different. The chicken is not oily or overly dry. Service — I’ve been to this location several times and I haven’t experienced a bad visit with the employees. Price — Very reasonably price for the quality(more expensive compared to KFC though).

I am a big fried chicken fan and decided to eat at Popeye’s. The food is okay at this location. Got a 3 piece meal with fries. The chicken was a little dry but I was hungry so I ate it and they really did short change me on the fries. I was pretty disappointed. The food was okay and the service was okay as well. The cashier seemed like she didn’t really want to be there. Maybe I just went on a bad day or something but I hope things are different next time

Popeye’s is a new thing to me as I never had even seen one in Upstate NY, much less eat at one. After seeing an onslaught of commercials about the Crawfish box, I decided to try it out. –Food: Well, they didn’t have the crawfish box at this one. Bummer. Decidedly hungry, I decided to try their chicken tenders, cajun fries, and a biscuit combo. The chicken was breaded and seasoned rather well and was admittedly pretty tasty. I had a Blackened Ranch dipping sauce which was awesome, but I’m sure was far higher in fat or sodium than I care to look up. The cajun fries were surprisingly a disappointment as I love seasoned fries; these just weren’t seasoned enough or had a breakthrough taste. The biscuit was a biscuit, not bad but nothing to write home about.(Unless Unilocal is my home, then I guess I’m writing about it, but I digress.) –Cost: Typical $ 6-$ 7 fastfood meal. –Atmosphere: The place is clean inside and staff was cleaning as well. Some of the seating booths are a little cramped or placed in high traffic areas. –Service: They ran out of fries and had to put more down and told me that they would bring it out. 15 minutes later I was still without fries. I eventually went up and they kindly apologized and gave me some, so I can’t knock them too bad for it. But come on, Popeye’s, you had one job. –Overall: I’m not going to knock all Popeye’s for my mediocre experience with this one, but to me it was essentially like every other fast food place. I’m not going to lie, I enjoyed my meal all the same, I’m a sucker for fast food, but it in no way stands out over something like McDonald’s or Arby’s in my opinion. I would have liked to try the Crawfish. Oh well, now I can say I’ve went to a Popeye’s. I’m not saying I won’t be back, but I don’t plan on making it a regular stop.

To be clear, this review isn’t about Popeye’s food, as I’m a huge fan of their chicken. But this particular location has a serious problem getting orders correct. In the dozen or so times I’ve been there(mainly through the drive through), I’ve gotten incorrect orders nearly half the time. Mild when I asked for spicy(or vice versa), sides missing, incorrect number of tenders, no biscuit. It’s a consistent problem that has only barely begun to correct itself. Having worked in fast food myself when I was fresh out of highschool, I know how simple it is to get orders correct and I’ve got low tolerance for that level of service. If they can improve, I’ll gladly revise my review. For now, enjoy the food; if you get what your ordered, that is.

While my husband thinks the place is amazing(I don’t get it), I would probably have a better opinion of the food if they ever got the orders right. I have picked up orders for home and work and so has my husband and can say we have NEVER had an order made correctly. Sides are generally OK, and I do have to agree with another reviewer that something is missing from the chicken in comparison to other Popeyes establishments in the area. This location really needs to get it together as far as lax management as I have and will gladly ride right over to Bonchon to get my fried chicken fix.

Why does everyone RAVE about Popeye’s? Their raving caused me to go — believe it or not, for the first time yesterday — and get a 2-piece spicy with green beans, mashed potatoes and a biscuit. It’s along the lines of Lee’s… Lee’s is better. But it’s just decent fast food fried chicken. No complaints; fast food is just not my thing. Long line at the drive-through. Good prices.

Ummm NO!, this place is a let down. It’s not like the other Popeyes. First off, no specials or deals, then they don’t have the new Coke fusion machines, and lastly, the chicken were small and not floured/breaded the way most of the Popeyes do it. I wouldn’t feel so upset if I wasn’t paying $ 18 for 12 pieces of chicken and no biscuits. Sure I didn’t have to buy the chicken but I wouldn’t know if it was worth it until I did and you know what, it’s not worth it. I can go to Popeyes in Mechanicsville and get 11 pieces for $ 12 and it would taste better. Don’t let the excitement of Popeyes returning to the West End fool you. This place reminds me of how the Starbucks in the Barnes and Nobles are not real Starbucks.

I have always enjoyed Fried Chicken, and it seems the only one in the Westend of town is KFC. However, when I saw where Popeyes was opening a place, I could not wait. So, I ventured down today at 2:30p and the place was«Packed». Too my much surprise, I had to wait in line, and the young girl was doing her best to deal with me… lol. I think I made her nervous with all of my questions. Anyway, I ordered the Two Piece EXTRA Spicy Chicken with Biscuit and Cajun Fries. IN addition, I ordered two extra Jalapenos… The Chicken was nice a Crispy, the way I like it and the Fries were OK… I am looking forward in returning as I think they seem to be bumping into each other… The Next time, I plan to try the Cajun Dirty Rice… The chicken breast seem smaller than what you get a KFC, and I thought the Chicken meat was a little on the dry side… Most of all, if you are a Senior… they do give Senior Discounts… so make sure you ask for one… I could not help but laugh as the young girl was not sure if she was suppose to card me or not… She had to ask the Manager… I was hoping she said she needed to look at my DL… Disappointed… I plan to go back soon… :-)
