Puritan Cleaners

I’m terrible about taking my clothes to the dry cleaners. I hate it. I hate spending the money and waiting and most places not delivering the results that I expect. I took a bunch of clothes here a while ago — dresses, jackets, skirts, sweaters, everything. I had a pair of pants that needed to be stitched as well. It took me forever just to drop off the clothes because the lady behind the counter asked me wait since I had so much. She wanted to take care of people that had fewer items than me first, many of which she seemed to know as regulars. Next, she scoffed somewhat sarcastically/​jokingly at me coming in later in the day for my drop off. She was the only person there, other than the person that does the cleaning, so I think she just didn’t want to sort my clothes. They were still open, so I came in.
Next, she nickel and dimed me and pressured me into donating money (a $ 5 minimum) to enter a contest that would benefit the food bank. I don’t need to be coaxed and pressured into donating money. I donate food, so this was irritating. I definitely felt the judgement when I initially showed hesitation.
I don’t recall if I had to pay when I dropped the clothes off or when I picked up, but my bill was over $ 250 and my jaw almost hit the floor. Was I reading that right? My pants that needed a simple stitch cost I think $ 15 and looked like a 2^nd grader in home ec. did it. Some of my dresses, because they had any sort of lining in them, cost me $ 23 each. Anything that had any sort of beading on it was extra, satin was extra, jackets/​blazers were outrageous. I looked through everything as I always do and noticed a white blazer had spots on it that weren’t even there when I dropped it off. When I showed this to the same lady, again she got defensive and said «well I don’t do the cleaning, so I’ll send it back.»
2 stars for the quality of cleaning on most items being good and for cleaning comforters, etc. at somewhat normal prices. If you go here, just be prepared to drop a car payment, or lookout for the deals they offer each week on specific items.
