I have always been ambivalent about Starbucks but have sometimes defended them against SBUX-haters. After today’s experience at this particular location, I probably won’t go in one unless it’s to use the bathroom. I ordered a chicken and artichoke on flatbread sandwich and a grande vanilla bean frappuccino and it came to $ 11.58! Seemed ridiculously expensive for what it was.(Fast food sandwich and drink consisting mainly of ice.) The cashier was very nice but seemed stressed as she was having to do too many things at once. No one asked me if I wanted whipped cream on my frappuccino(I did not) so when I saw the barista reaching for the whipped cream, I squealed at him«No whipped cream» and then I asked him if what he had just made was grande because it looked smaller than I expected. He gave me this look as though I was just another stupid customer in a long line of stupid customers he had to deal with that day. He mumbled an answer to my question about the size and then asked me if I wanted whipped cream. So who’s the stupid one here? To be fair, perhaps he couldn’t hear me because the music was way too loud.(And why would that be?) Store was also over-air-conditioned. And, of course, being SBUX, they put my drink in a plastic cup. All Starbucks do this of course but isn’t it funny that on their Web site, they have drinks photographed in glasses! They should ask customers whether their drink is «to go» or «for here» and serve the drink accordingly. This would be particularly helpful since those horrible plastic cups are not recyclable in Our Fair City.

Always a friendly Starbucks. If you come here on weekends it’s very full but the baristas make the drinks quickly and correct. It’s nice to see a bunch of students working on their laptops and getting some studying in. Plenty of area for working as well as people watching. A super cute neighborhood Starbucks!

I am not actually a big fan of Starbucks, outside of its predictability when traveling. However, this Starbucks is special — the staff are what make it amazing. They’re personable, personal, and really care about the service they provide. I am a HUGE fan of great service, so this makes my cup of. coffee! :D

I love this Starbucks! High ceilings, open spaces, and quiet customers. If you want a place to study, but the local scene is a bit too rowdy and grunge I highly suggest this Starbucks. There are so many tables for you to enjoy a nice cup of corporate Joe!

Everyone knows Starbucks. This one is best described as follows: Cozy, clean, and the most work tables Ive seen in a Starbucks ever. Plus friendly staff, sunny, and well… There’s bike parking out front.

Favorite Starbucks in Richmond!!! Great vibe. Awesome staff. Only complaint is that I wish there were more outlets. I am a chronic Starbucks«studdier» and sometimes my laptop is a little low. But ehh, it could be worse?

A really nice Starbucks with a quick and friendly staff and a convenient off-the-beaten-path location. Honestly, I don’t get the appeal of Starbucks. Sure they make great coffee and other more complicated products, but the whole cult-ish culture of the whole thing is weird, considering you can get coffee/tea just as good in most other places. My guess is that, people want that local neighborhood coffee shop feel but with free WiFi so, god forbid, you don’t have to talk to anyone. Whatever the reason, I’ve been in a number of Starbucks all over the country and this is one of the better ones. Small enough to be cozy but not so small that you’re bumping into people or fighting for a seat. The place was busy on a Saturday morning, but the staff was very friendly and turned out orders very quickly. Everything tasted as it should — my Chai Tea Latte was reliably good. If you’re looking for a low-key Starbucks with staff that actually know what they’re doing, this is the location for you. Parking is a bit of a challenge(there’s a lot with a few spaces out back and street parking), but otherwise not bad.

my friend recently told me about this location so i went finally and omg i love love love this starbucks!!! it is now my favorite internet browsing spot in richmond!!! i come here almost every day now! the layout is nice and the baristas are nice and friendly =]] and they keep the floor cleaner than most starbucks only thing i didnt like is it took me a few visits to figure out that the line starts on the left side of the checkout desk/register thing… theres a sign that says«line starts here» but it’s confusing bc the arrow does not point in the right direction

Standard Starbucks experience with a busy location in the Fan, which means tables and chairs are often taken by people who come to «study.» Came today to meet a group of 8. We ended up grabbing coffees and relocating to a spot that could accommodate all of us.

Average Starbucks. Nothing you can’t get at all the others. Workers are usually nice, never really any problems with service. Lines never TOO long but still long enough to make you wait a little bit.

A really friendly Starbucks. I think it’s as unique as any I’ve been in. I love the building and the seating is spacious. It’s a bit difficult to find a parking spot… best shot is the lot in back. In conclusion, as simple as it seems, from one Starbucks to another, they’re not all the same. Same coffee, but not the same atmosphere. The difference, execution of service, meaning… a happy employee, smiling, friendly and the delivery of an order in a timely manner.

This is a solid Starbucks. I know, Starbucks is Starbucks. But seriously, this one’s employees are always accommodating, friendly, and quick. I’ve never received an incorrect order, and I’m out of there in less than 7 minutes, even at 8am. It has more room and comfier chairs than some other Richmond locations. No outdoor seating, but plenty of parking in back and on the block. The general clientele seems to be grad students, young professionals, and post-run active folks looking for a sweet treat. If for some reason you’re ever in the position to choose which Fan/VCU/Carytown/Museum District Starbucks to patronize, this one is your best bet!

The BEST coffee shop to study at in Richmond. It’s got all your necessities for getting your study-on. Study amenities: — CAFFEINE — drug of choice for staying awake. Withdrawal symptoms? No prob, the counter’s only 2 feet away. — GREATMUSIC — though I plug into my own Pandora, this café’s music ain’t too shabby — FREEWIFI — albeit a bit slow, but serves my purpose and keeps me from logging into FB twenty times an hour. — SEATING — plenty of seats for your behind to nestle into for the day. Yes, they’re normal wooden chairs, but they’re just right. — ELECTRICITY — plentiful as you’ll need some electric juice for your iPad, iPhone, iWhateverSuitsYourFancy — PARKING – its very own lot in back — CLEANBATHROOM — we all know why — FOOD — my choice is a breakfast sandwich for under $ 5 — SERVICE — muy excelente! — CLEAN, FAIRLYBRIGHT — perhaps light is the only issue near the back — CUSTOMERS — never had a screaming kiddo in sight. Ranges from hipster to family to business folks. Not too crowded. Plenty of other folks studying/reading. — OPENFAIRLYLATE — 9pm, maybe 10pm some days… will have to double-check that — ENVIRONMENT — few restaurants and pubs around, but mostly residential

This has to be one of the most diverse Starbucks I’ve ever been too, and in a good way. We go to church right around the corner so will frequently drop in for a caffeine dose before or after service. We’ve never had to wait long for a drink and the baristas are super friendly. The place and the bathrooms are clean which is nice. And, although this is a little weird to say, I appreciate that they don’t care if you come in here and don’t order a drink. I’ve seen several people come in to use it as a warm place to sleep and they just leave them be as long as they’re not bothering anyone. I really do appreciate their kindness. It’s a great place to get a well made drink with a friendly smile with good people watching and some kindness to the less fortunate.

Good service + Great space From the outside, this place doesn’t look like a Starbucks. Inside, there is a variety of seating between bars stools, chairs, and sofas arranged around a large space. The service was fast. The crowd is diverse ranging from students, to yuppies and up.

Ok, so why am I writing a review for Starbucks? They’re all pretty standard, right? Wrong. I felt this place needed recognition just because it is the best one out of all the ones I’ve visited in Richmond. And I’ve been to practically all of them in my quest for the perfect study nook. The good: 1) Friendly and efficient staff and great customer service 2) Clean, vibrant scene with plenty of lounge-y chairs and tables; it’s a neighborhood Starbucks 3) Music that isn’t blaring 4) Plenty of places to charge up your laptop 5) Clean bathrooms 6) Open a tad later than most other Starbucks in the area 7) Free wifi(standard) The bad: 1) Can be pretty crowded during most of the day except early mornings and late evenings; sometimes you do have to park on the street 2) Almost frigid temperatures inside — is this really necessary? Really, that’s all the negatives I could think of for this particularly store.
