Ordered brunch and 50 minutes later… still no food??? Talked to Manager and he said sorry, no charge!

Tarrants West is a semi-regular stop for me in the west end. Consistent foods and service, great interior, and valet parking are all pluses. My last visit we tried a handful, of craft cocktails, each very well done. I highly recommend any of them, they are all quite good. We stuck with our regular Happy Hour snacks, fried green tomatoes and also a pizza. The FGTs are amazing, perfectly fried, with a lovely sauce. They also come with a small side of chips. Our pizza this time was a feta, artichoke and kalamata. The crust is wonderful, thin and crispy. The toppings aren’t overwhelming, and no matter the combination we choose, they asleep to find the right variation to make our choices pop. Tarrants is great for groups, I’ve been several times and they do a wonderful job of accommodating large crowds. In short, this one is always a pleaser.

Many frequent diners know that the early bird usually gets better service and better prepared meals than late-night guests due to stress and higher traffic on staff. So it was somewhat of a surprise when our party of five visited Tarrant West for an early dinner Friday evening at 6, only to find the meat loaf served at room temperature and the salads drowning in dressing. Our server was quick to address our complaint and have the shift manager apologize for the problem, but the damage was done and the party mood was gone long before dessert. Previous visits to this restaurant were much more enjoyable than this disappointment.

We are officially addicted to Tarrant’s West! We are usually there at least 2 nights a week preferring to sit at the bar where the drinks and company are in surpassed! Bartender Kyle hooked us from the beginning by making the cocktails to a new level of exceptional! Everyone behind the bar is wonderful, Nick, Matt, Richard, Zack! And the food is great too. Only complaint is that we have to come earlier and earlier to get a prime seat! Back at Tarrants! The food and drink are fabulous but the bar staff are the draw! Tonite Nick and Matt made us feel like family more than ever. It is a place for every special occasion. And for every night.

Amazing night at the bar with Zach who makes the best Old Fashioned ever. The fried Polenta was as delicious as he said it would be.

Yesterday we had an Alumnae meeting with one of the Assistant Director of Alumnae Affairs in town. She selected Tarrant’s based on previous feedback and reviews. This was surprising since she was coming from Atlanta and many of us from in town had not been. What a great choice. The staff was helpful and attentive from the beginning. They arrived ahead of the time we were due but we’re still seated immediately. They had started drinks and appetizers before most of us had arrived. We had 9 total. This place was crazy busy on a Friday around 6 – 6:30. They do have valet so parking was not a problem. I bet 3 different Managers/Staff members other than our great waiter Vito checked in on us. They were all really engaging and enhanced our dining experience. We did not feel rushed at all considering we were probably there for 3 hours. Since it was restaurant week the majority of us went with that option. The following is what we ordered/sampled. Appetizers Mixed Green Salad-delicious and I chose the ginger dressing. Calamari(n/I on restaurant week menu)-nicely cooked not overdone or rubbery. The best I have had in awhile. Fried Green Tomatoes(n/I on restaurant week menu) — feedback was these are delicious. The chips with them were good. Crab dip(n/I on restaurant week menu)-great a must get with the toast points and crackers. Enough to share with 4. Entrees Tarragon Chicken salad with golden raisins, fresh fruit, cucumber, craisins, candied walnuts over mixed greens dressed with raspberry vinaigrette. Half was enough for two. N/I on restaurant week menu) but great feedback was provided on the freshness and amount of fruit) Chicken Marsala Tilapia stuffed with crabmeat in lobster caper sauce. Several of us ordered this. It was delicious and I’m not a tilapia girl. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce had a little sweetness. Great. I would order again. Manicotti topped with roasted vegetables– good feedback on pasta and vegetables. Enough for 2. Dessert Mini Cannoli with strawberries & chocolate sauce. Delicious and good presentation. Two small cannoli with a cream/chocolate filling. Arlene’s Bread Pudding with whiskey sauce– Great feedback and it was a good portion. Warm Hot Fudge Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream. The majority had the brownie. It came with ice cream. Good chocolaty flavor without being overbearing. Fabulous evening out. We will return. Ask for Vito. Great job of making our evening special.

Really cool interior of the building, the Windows look like 1800’s. Menu is very extensive, almost too many decisions. Waitstaff is extremely knowledgable. Started with a flatbread which was amazing, although it was like a pizza instead of a flatbread. Still very good just more dough than the usual. I opted for the blackened redfish special with a coconut risotto. I actually am not a fan of coconut but the server convinced me and she was right. It had the perfect blend, the blackening cut the sweetness and the sweetness calmed the blackening. What a mix. It was still happy hour when we were there so we threw a few drinks back at a really reasonable price. Can’t wait to try some other stuff on the menu

This place has been on my radar since I moved to Richmond. I really want to try their brunch, which is why we went there. However, we ended up getting lunch. The menu was sooo large. There were so many options. The interior is kinda classic. It’s a pretty big interior. Our server was nice and very helpful. I got the portabella mushroom burger. It was very good. I also got a side of mac and cheese. I was a bit disappointed with the mac and cheese. I saw a pic that was posted and it looked delicious. What I got looked and tasted like some quick kraft mac and cheese from a box. I just know not to order that anymore. I still have to go back for bruch which I’m excited about trying.

I am impressed. Great restaurant, great atmosphere, and if she’s working ask for Lauren, she was our waitress and she made our experience that much more enjoyable. The Mrs. had their Shrimp and Grits and WOW! I think I ate more of her dish than she did. I had their two eggs breakfast and it was JUST enough. We really enjoyed Lauren personality and she helped with our choices. The Mrs and I are already looking forward to lunch here and at Max’s.

I’ve been a fan of the downtown Tarrant’s location for years, and finally was able to try out the West End location for New Year’s Eve. I really enjoyed it. The food was wonderful, no complaints there. Definitely on par with the downtown location. I had the Seafood Cannelloni and it was DIVINE. I highly recommend. The restaurant itself was great. We were seated on the new enclosed patio area, which I really enjoyed. I think I preferred that to the main dining area, which seemed louder, but still nice. My only«complaints», which I put in quotes because I only use the word for lack of a better term, were small little quirks. We were given an extra menu that talked about Happy Hour specials on beer and wines until 7pm, and within the menu on the New Year’s Eve specials menu, it also made mention of the Happy Hour specials, but when I asked the waitress about what wines were included, she told me they weren’t doing Happy Hour that day. A little confusing, when it was on two separate menus on our table. Also, the bar was a little slow, but it was understandable given the holiday and we just adjusted and ordered our drinks early. Still, I love Tarrant’s, and I love to have a location so close to my home now. I will definitely be coming back! If you live in the West End, I highly recommend. You will get all the same things you get from the downtown location, closer to home.

Came here for our company Christmas Luncheon. I had been to the one downtown, and hear great things about the West location. We were seated promptly and the server was very personable. We started with some cocktails and appetizers. The garlic bread they being out was phenomenal. I could eat that all day. I tasted a little bit of the appetizers, and they were good. I ordered the soup of the day, beef barley, which was good. For my entrée, I got the filet mignon in a yummy mushroom Marsala sauce, accompanied by mashed potatoes and vegetables. While the cut of the filet was kind of odd, the food was great. For dessert, I had a cannoli which was good though a little too hard. Overall, a great dining experience and I will definitely return to try some other dishes!

Same Tarrant’s menu and flavor, larger suburban venue for West Enders who don’t want to drive all the way downtown. Stopped in for lunch today at 1 p.m., and had nowhere to park! Our servers(why did we need two… was one training?) were a little hovery at first until we told them that we were in no special hurry and they could take their time with us. I ended up getting the chicken pot pie(a Tarrant’s classic), and my friend got the lasagna. She loved hers. I loved mine. Nothing special, but certainly nothing bad. 3.5 stars rounded to four. Not as cool as the original downtown, but perfect for the West End.

Let me start with the service… Superb! Me and my brunch date were well taken care of on this particular Sunday morning. After driving through the parking lot, it seemed as though the place would be packed but we were surprised to find how large it was and were seated right away. The waitstaff was very attentive and we were never without anything we needed. I ordered a mimosa to start which was served as a glass half full of juice and a mini champagne bottle. So darn cute and delicious! They also brought an apple Danish type bun for us to nibble on until our food arrived. This was a nice treat although it did fill me up more than I realized. I got scrambled eggs with pancakes and sausage which was tasty but nothing outstanding. It was truly the service that hit above the mark on this trip!

Tarrant’s West has an enormous menu with treats for everyone. The biggest issue you face at Tarrant’s is what to choose. The sandwiches are hearty and you have plenty of options for sides. Typically the chips are the star but mine were a little stale. The service is good. Not overly attentive but fine. The restaurant is a little loud and lively. A nice change a pace for those willing to go off the beaten path.

Met a friend at Tarrant’s West for Sunday brunch. Worried it might be packed, I had reservations for 11am, but when we arrived it didn’t seem too crazy. Since it was a nice day we sat outside on the porch area(recommended). Right away we were greeted by our server who was laid back, friendly, cheerful, and helpful. She took our drink orders and also brought us some cinnamon rolls(YUM! So much better than plain bread!). I ordered the make your own omelet with bacon, mushrooms, and swiss… it was large and good, but I wish there was a tad more cheese since it was on the dry side. The sides of potatoes(my fave part of the meal — aside from the cinnamon rolls) and fruit were good! My bloody Mary was okay… very basic with just celery and a lime wedge. All in all it was a nice experience with great service, but the food was average. Cheers!

Lunch with a friend yesterday afternoon. It’s a really nice spot. A nice neighborhood feel. It’s really nice inside. Nice intricate ceilings and style. The staff was quite friendly. Definitely not a tshirt kind of place. Put on a polo. The food the so-so. I decided to go with a club sandwich with fries. My fries didn’t taste too fresh even after requesting them to be extra crispy. The sandwich was good but not great. Nothing bad, nothing great. An okay kind of spot.

My boyfriend and I had a sample plate of Tarrant’s chicken and waffle at The Broad Appetite Festival earlier this summer. The tapa sized portion was delectable and memorable. We decided to give our taste buds a full experience and visit the restaurant’s Three Chopt location for Sunday brunch. We arrived a little before noon. The restaurant was filled with brunchers but we were greeted and seated immediately. Tarrant’s West has a very regal but relaxed ambiance. Our waitress Erica was wonderful and made great recommendations since it was first time dining there. But we came dead set on ordering chicken and waffles. We had been reminiscing about the flavorful tease we received weeks ago long enough. We wanted the real deal. Much to our dismay the entrée was already sold out barely two hours into brunch! Erica saw how disappointed we were so she attempted to try to accommodate our request and offer similar options or see if the chef could make something similar. She really tried to go over and beyond to make us happy and it was greatly appreciated. You could tell she really loved her job and people. She was amazing. We decided to go with Erica’s recommendations. I ordered the French Toast Foster and my boyfriend ordered the Breakfast Pizza. Both were delicious and full of flavor. The french toast was cooked to perfection and the fresh fruit and candied walnuts complimented the dish perfectly. There was no need for syrup it was so good. The pizza was seasoned to perfection and was so big my boyfriend could only eat half. It was still yummy the next day after being warmed up. We both had mimosas, which were generous in size. Overall we had an enjoyable dining experience at Tarrant’s West. Our server really made it great. I had to deduct points for running out of a popular dish so early in the business day. This still doesn’t change what a great restaurant this is. We will definitely return, just early enough to indulge in those chicken and waffles.

We took our mother to Tarrant’s West for Sunday Brunch on Mothers day and we had exceptional service and delicious food. We had traditional eggs Benedict, Huavous Rancheros, and farmers omelet, plus drinks. Everything was fresh, hot, and tasted wonderful. The waitstaff are attentive and friendly. *Edit– we just went back to Tarrants west for dinner, the menu is diverse but A LOT of fish, I personally felt limited because of that and most entrees are $ 25 and up. Our waitress practically rolled her eyes at us(deducted 1 star) when we ordered appetizers with side salads for our meals. The portion and prices were just right. We also had wine and cocktails. The pre-meal bread is delicious. Not sure if we will return, we don’t eat seafood and choices for landlovers are limited snd overpriced. **Returned for early dinner, 3÷19÷16, so disappointed, the half rack of baby back ribs is no longer on the menu, and we had yet another stuck up waitress who assumed we were there for lunch(at 4:30pm WTF) and was too condisinding to answer a simple question that she had to open the menu and point to the answer on the lunch menu which we never looked at because we were there for DINNER! Again, i feel limited in choice because there is sooooo much seafood on the menu, and it’s nuts that entrees do not even include a side salad. This is not New York people, the staff there behave like this restaurant is something that it’s not. It is undeniable that they do have good food, but I cringe at the thought of becoming a regular here because of snooty service.

Absolutely AMAZING meal! I got the Flounder Stuffed Crab and it tasted as great as it sounds! Succulent and fresh, each bite was bursting with flavor. My husband got the Blackened Snook and said the same. The ambiance, both inside and out, can be as romantic as you want it to be, as formal as you want it to be, or as casual as you want it to be. It’s one of the few places I have ever been too that you couldn’t be overdressed or underdressed for. Strange, but true. It seems to fit every occasion. I had to skip on the dessert, but my hubby tried the Samoa Cookie Cheesecake — yes! Real Samoa Girl Scout Cookies(or Caramel Delights, as I grew up calling them) crumbled into the cheesecake. He said it was tasty, but the cheesecake overpowered the cookie crumble, so you really didn’t taste it that much. Still, I liked the attempt as something so creative. The wine list is expansive and I absolutely LOVE that they have wine pairing selection with each entrée right there on the menu. Why don’t more restaurants do that??? So smart and they’d sell way more wine that way. Service is good here. We had an excellent waitress as well. So far, so great! Will definitely be making moves back here or to their original location when I return to the area.

I have been to the downtown location numerous times, but I LOVED my experience here for dinner! We had a late Saturday night dinner, and although the place was a little cramped, it was definitely a good choice. We kept the meals simple this night and I had a nice glass of wine and a small personal pizza, which was very satisfying. My fiancé had a bacon cheeseburger that he raved about! The waitress was AMAZING and so attentive, I wish I could remember her name to recommend for everyone to have because she definitely made the experience that much more enjoyable. Whether you’re interested in a romantic date night, or even casual dining, Tarrant’s West is definitely a hit. I will go back in the near future to try more of the entrees, happy hour, and their brunch selection. Enjoy!
