Good food. Decent service. Not very many choices south of the river. They are willing to make me something off the menu and I return because of this reason

The prices are way to high for the amount of food you get.

I cannot give this place enough stars. Seriously, best Indian food in Richmond, hands down. I’ve come here three times for their lunch buffet, and every time it’s been great. The price can’t be beat($ 9.95 + tax for lunch buffet, Monday-Saturday) for the selection and quality they offer. Do note that they seem to only serve Butter Chicken on the weekends and during dinner. However, this past time I went, they had a Shrimp Masala! Shrimp! In a lunch buffet for $ 9.95! What a deal! The lunch buffet also comes with unlimited naan, which is in itself absolutely delicious as it comes out piping hot and fresh from the kitchen. The flavor on everything is always perfect. The service is always kind and prompt, with the waiters and waitresses always coming to check on you. This hidden gem is in the back of a nondescript strip mall, but don’t let the exterior fool you, as the interior is absolutely beautiful. The first time I came I was grossly underdressed and felt like a fool. I’m not saying that you need to wear a dress and heels, but definitely not sweats and a sweater like I was. Overall, I can’t stop raving about Taste of India. Make this your go-to Indian restaurant today!

The Wednesday buffet is really good. For the price and the amount of choices it offer. I’ve been here twice and they had rack of lamb and lobster tail the first time I came. This second time they had snow crab legs and deep fried lamb.

I’m embarrassed to say that I live less than 2 miles from here and for years, because of the strip center location, I always headed«across the river» for my Indian food fix. Recently on a week night, not wanting to venture far, we decided to check Taste of India out after I’d seen complementary reviews on Unilocal. Thanks for the kick in the pants, fellow Unilocalers! Taste of Indian is now on the top of my list for Indian food in Richmond. The dining room is tastfully decorated, staff friendly and they featured many dishes that were new to me. First off an appetizer called Masala Dosa. It had an incredible rich flavor and both sauces were excellent complements to the dish. For our next course we had Lamb do Piaza and Saag Alo Choley and of course, an order of naan. Everything was spiced as we asked, hot but not mouth numbing. I felt the ingredients were all top notch and well prepared. They have a nice selection of Indian beers but the wine selection is lacking. Wine by the glass but no «wine list» was available. Because the cost of dinning out in Indian restaurnats can add up quickly, I began making my own at home most of the time but it is quite labor intensive so I’m glad to know that I can leave my neighborhood and quickly get an excellent Indian fix when I don’t have the time to do it myself!

We were staying at the Best Western near by and came here on the reviews on Unilocal. It was totally worth the hype. The staff was super attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. After a recommendation from the manager my husband got the lamb mushroom(hot) and he couldn’t stop raving about it. I got the butter chicken and it was equally amazing. Try using the garlic naan to dip in the sauce. It’s to die for! We will definitely be coming back here every time we are in Richmond.

AMAZING!!! Best Indian food in Richmond! The place has an elegant design and the food is to match! The servers are very attentive and the owners will dazzle you with their stories of travel! Although, it is hidden in the back of a strip mall— the experience is to be shouted from the roof tops! Come here during the lunch buffet to get a taste of many different dishes!

The best Indian food in RVA… nicely remodeled, excellent service. One of my favorite restaurants in RVA We’ve been there QUITE often, perhaps as much as any restaurant in RVA. I love to go buffeting there. Dinner we all but something different and usually there’s four of us, my fav? Buttered Chicken! The 5th star is never there unless I have super service and or wonderful input from our server? We received both. Extra star.

If you are able to sit n’ eat, while avoiding communication with the manager/owner of this restaurant, I guarantee you will enjoy some positive Indian food experience. The chicken butter takes 3⁄5. The lady has some ANGER issues that messed up the whole experience. The restaurant closes at 2:30 pm, however, don’t step-in after 2:00 pm, otherwise, the owner might call the police on you!

Just went to Taste of India for the first time in search of a new spot for Indian/East Asian cuisine with some friends. We have been looking for a new spot since Mystic Masala closed. This exceeded our expectations in all areas. The food was delicious. The service was impeccable. And the environment and décor was warm and inviting. It was slightly difficult to find, but this hidden gem is worth the effort.

Awesome food, very flavorful and well made. I ordered chicken tikka masala(medium heat) and amount of food received was more than enough to fit my needs. The restaurant is very clean and the waitresses are really nice. I am very happy and comfortable with my decision.

First of all, this is not one of the best indian restaurant in rva. Not even close to the best. The chicken tikka masala I ordered wasn’t that great. The naan wasn’t that soft. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Lemon and anokha are still the best!

now here’s a cuisine that makes vegetarianism EASY… fresh salads… a spicy mushroom dish, sweet and spicy squash, mixed vegetables with tamarind sauce and mango chutney… it’s all mouthwatering! A delightful ethiopian beauty queen bringing you strawberry and mango lassi to savor with vegetable soup and naan bread… Better than lai ja… Best Indian Cuisine in the 804 area

I usually love this place for lunch but today… what is this?! Fries, chopped tomatoes, and fried krispies?! IMG952015020595123418999.jpg

Thank you fellow Unilocalers. I finally found my favorite Indian restaurant in town. I am always a sucker for Indian lunch buffets and I’m so glad this one is close to where I work. First of all, this place looks a lot nicer on the inside than out which was a pleasant surprise. Anyways on to the buffet. The salad bar looked really fresh, but I skipped it this time because I needed my korma fix, which by the way was amazing! Also on the buffet was the Tandoori Chicken which was super moist, palak paneer dish with spinach which was delicious and light, a cabbage dish which I could eat every day of my life, the naan was spectacular and the lentil soup was good too. I know i’ll be hitting this spot up again to get my fix!

This is definitely the best all around Indian restaurant in Richmond. It has pros and cons, but the former outweighs the latter. Only come here for the buffet lunch Monday through Saturday or the dinner on Wednesday. The regular menu prices are so ridiculously high you’ll hate yourself. The food is amazing almost always. The only thing I don’t like is their seafood because it’s always overcooked(because it’s a buffet). At least half the buffet is vegetarian friendly, the other half a mix of various meats. So far every flavor has been amazing though. Especially the butter chicken and the cabbage. Desserts are also a hit. My favorite is the rice pudding, but it’s all good. On the down side, the device is great if you get either of the Indian women, but the other two women are awkward. Not as people, but they clearly aren’t servers. They have no server etiquette and forget things a lot. Nice, but terrible servers. I highly recommend this place though and promise you’ll enjoy it.

4 for the food. 3 for the service/atmosphere. I am shocked that I haven’t eaten here sooner since I live fairly close. Some friends said the buffet was really good, but the buffet wasn’t offered the evening I showed up with my book club. Here’s the thing… when I go out for Indian food, I don’t want to feel like I am eating it in India(charming as that may be). I swear the a/c had not been turned on that day. We sweated through our meal(and not just from the heat of the food). It was gross. We watched people come through the door having the same reaction we all did: TURNONTHE A/C. Our waitress was a bit odd. The ordering process went something like this: Me: Baighan Barta, please(eggplant/tomato dish I order everywhere) Waitress: How hot? Me: Hot Waitress: Medium Me: Hot Waitress: Medium Hot Me: Whatever That said… whatever the spice level, it was HOT. Nose dripping hot. And really delicious. Good naan, good rice. I will definitely be back. But I swear I will walk out the door if the a/c isn’t on this summer.
