Came in here and picked up breakfast to go. I got the corned beef hash and eggs and the food was just ok. Not spectacular, not awful… just OK. I can’t quite put my finger on why the food was not better. The atmosphere was great inside, the only thing that threw me off was when I walked in I was treated by a guy sitting at a table, with a laptop in front of him. I guess he was a manager or owner, but I easily mistook him for a random patron, not an employee of the restaurant. Extremely confusing. I might stop in again one day and try them again, but with river city diner a block away I may not.

I was in the mood for blueberry pancakes and I thought for sure they would have them since they have all different kinds of toppings for your pancakes but to my dismay, they didn’t! I feel like if you are going to have toppings for pancakes, blueberries should just automatically be one. Anyway, I ended up getting the Kiss the Cook because I was very hungry. It was one pancake, eggs your way, potatoes, bacon AND a sausage patty. And a little powdered donut that seems to be a signature item for them. There wasn’t as much food as I initially thought was going to be on my plate but it ended up being just enough. Even though I got a plain pancake, it was very good. The food all in all was good, not gourmet or anything. This place is small so don’t expect to get a seat with a large group(6+). The staff was very nice though and I think they deliver because we kept seeing people running in and out with food. I would go back again and try other dishes.

It was a really cute little brunch place I went to for my birthday. Our waiter was really diligent and checked up on us at all the right time. If I lived closer I’d probably visit a lot more often. The rolls were amazing! And the captain crunch French toast was so delicious!

I had the best omelette of my life here! Light and airy with the perfect texture. The potatoes were pretty awesome as well. Also a lovely nostalgic atmosphere.

This was a cute kitschy throwback to an old 50’s diner experience. We were looking for a good spot for breakfast and it was pretty good but with a few pitfalls worth mentioning. Whenever we try a new place we typically split an entrée to test it out… Then gauge whether we’re still hungry, think the food merits a second entrée etc. in this case we opted to split an omelette with home fries and a biscuit. We told the server ahead of time that we wanted to start with one entrée and then decide if we wanted more food. I get it. this«progressive» eating style is probably super annoying for servers who have a vested interest in increasing the tab… But it’s a sure fire way to(1) see if you like the food FIRST and(2) make sure you don’t over order and get stuffed. Two minutes after we put in the order, the server asked if we wanted to order anything else. A bit of a nuisance question when we had already explained that we were going to start with one order. It was a good call too because the serving size was really generous. The omelette would be characterized as a meat lovers omelette and didn’t disappoint. It was stuffed generously with ham, sausage, bacon and cheddar. It was delish! And def the star of the show. On the downside. Everything else on the plate. I forgot to order tots which got great reviews so the plate came with diced breakfast potatoes, which were just too greasy for my taste, plus they were kinda lukewarm, next up was the biscuit. If you’re in the capital of the confederacy(which we ARE) you should have a biscuit that hits it outta the park. We barely touched this one. It was split and toasted and was closer to a piece of dry white toast than a biscuit which you want to be fluffy and buttery or flaky and buttery…(note to the chef. Black sheep, early bird, or saison ALL get them spot on! You might wanna do a little more market research) then they had this odd little frosted lump which turned out to be a sort of blueberry donut hole. My companion noted that it was reminiscent of the kind you got as a kid in the plastic package. But that might have been better. This version was kinda chilly in the middle suggesting it had come out of the fridge and it was just a cold purple little dough ball. Not sure what they were going for… But the service was friendly, the atmosphere cute and the omelette worth giving them a second shot. Just need to work on those sides. They unfortunately bring down the quality of everything else!

My first experience here was amazing. It occurred when the monstrous snow came to Richmond a few weeks ago causing very few businesses to be open for a few days. Surprisingly we called and Brad told us that they were open so we walked a few blocks down and there he was, welcoming and happy to have us. We enjoyed good conversation and an ever better meal that was prepared so perfectly and made with LOVE. I’d recommend this place any day!

I went to Luncheonette for breakfast on a weekend. The restaurant was very busy during prime breakfast hours(small dining area). We had about a 10 minute wait before being seated. I ordered banana pancakes and a sausage patty. Luncheonette pancakes and sausage was tasty. My pancakes were filling as well. Our server was attentive. There’s street parking in front of the restaurant. Luncheonette is a good choice for breakfast in Shockoe Bottom. I give Luncheonette a 3.5 rating.

First off, for the tldr crowd, this place is amazing. Highly recommend the tater tots, and my girlfriend loved the veggie quesadilla. I’ve been ordering from these guys since it was Rolz. I’ve ran into several issues ordering before with grubhub and so I’ve had to call in several times. Each time I’ve called I’ve spoken to the same incredibly personable associate. I’m not too sure exactly who I’ve spoken to each time but it is clearly the same person. They have always hooked it up. Amazing and creative food that just makes you crave it. And, dare I say, they have some of the best tots in RVA! I will keep ordering and recommending this place to everyone, as I did without even realizing it with Rolz. Keep up the good stuff!

Food is good although I ordered the poutine and was disappointed to find out what they call poutine is definitely not poutine. But still not bad for what it was.

I had an amazing first experience here! This place was open throughout the blizzard, so I walked here on a Monday afternoon to get some lunch. I wasn’t expecting much, and was blown away! Great customer service from what looked like one server who was running the place, and was even cooking(?) at some point, from what it looked like to me. He graciously let everyone know that the food might take some extra time, but it still came out without too long of a wait, and it never felt rushed at any point during the experience. PS the place is small. There was maybe 6 tables, with a couple spots to sit at the bar. And the food. THEFOOD. I just had to try the mac and cheese fries. «Homemade» it says. Probably one of the best that I’ve had for a while, served over perfectly cooked fries with crunchy outsides. Topped with dried herbs, the presentation will already make you drool. I got the coffee pancakes too. Mm mm… 2 large fluffy pancakes with a hint of coffee and cinnamon, topped with strawberry pieces and whipped cream. Definitely coming back!

The luncheonette is a fantastic little diner in the RVA area. I’ve enjoyed many meals there, from the breakfast corned beef hash, to dinner items like the Powhatan poutine and RVA melt. Everything I’ve had there has turned out exceptional! The subs are hearty and filling and there is a variety of options to choose from. The Powhatan poutine is a great appetizer/greasy filling food when you need a junk food fix. I had never had a poutine before but loved the combination of French fries with sausage gravy! The service is out of this world, and always is catering to the customers needs making sure they’re satisfied! Brad, Nick, and Jay are a few of the staff I’ve seen over and over and are always helpful and engaging. Delivery is a great option, especially if you live close by. Fortunately for me they’re only about two blocks away which makes them an easy choice when in need of a meal, from takeout to delivery to eating in. Everything on the menu is great, but especially worth trying are the chicken and waffle rolz and the buff roll!

Very very solid breakfast and lunch fare — exactly the kind of place you want to live close to(I live two blocks away). Brad(owner) is a really nice guy and a great host. If you want conversation, he and the rest of the staff will talk. If you want to work on emails and eat a quiet breakfast before work, they’ll leave you alone. I usually order a breakfast combo with sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, a pancake, and potatoes. It also comes with a donut hole, some fresh greens, and a whip cream filled strawberry. A taste of everything for just $ 11. The coffee is solid as well. I’m working on my fourth cup now. Highly recommend it!

Highly recommend the luncheonette. Unique décor unique choices for food all day. Appetizers for breakfast and dessert included. Pretty cool to watch your food being made and to talk to the manager directly as you eat. Definitely a destination eatery.

First time with new owner/chef Wednesday Went right back for brunch today Friday It has that much to offer. Great inexpensive lunch and breakfast menu. Lizzie waited on us both times and she alone is worth the visit. The best was the food and the delight of simple entrees made exquisitely as requested. I am planning my return and will keep you posted. When I was there Wednesday every table was taken by noon so plan accordingly.

So came here for brunch on a Sunday and it got really busy after we came in. It’s a small place but I like the décor and the atmosphere it creates. There were a lot of choices for food and the waitress was extremely helpful if you have never been here. The food though was a bit off. We order some pancake with banana and it was a bit dry. The continental breakfast that I got was good and the country style potatoes was on par with Millies. But what I really liked about this place was their hot dog. I’m really into hot dog and even though the bun to dog wasn’t that good. The sauerkraut that was on the hot dog was to AMAZING. it’s probably one of my favorite hot dog toppings and it really complement the skin-less dog well.(I tend to prefer the crunch on a natural casing dog) I would definitely come back for the hot dogs.

My second time in Richmond visiting a friend and I came across this place via Unilocal.Seeing it was new in town, we decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself had a cute 60’s/retro theme going on, minus the creepy/corny food-cartoons at the top of the walls. Now onto the important stuff. so I ordered a side house salad and the bacon-stuffed cheeseburger that came with fries, onion rings, and cole slaw. Even though it was just a side salad, it was pretty plain and their house vinegarette was very very bland. The salad didn’t have much substance either. The burger was decent and flavorful but nothing extraordinary, and the bacon was in bits inside of the patty. The onion rings were OK, and the fries were pretty thick and delicious; the chives were a nice touch. But the cole slaw? I am sorry to say, it was the worst I’ve ever had. it was literally the most salty item on the plate, which was strange because slaws are usually tangy or sweet. I could only have a small bite of it and was done. As much as I really wanted to like the food because the owners were so nice, I just was not very impressed. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things.

This place just opened. The food was good and reasonably priced. I had chorizo and eggs with potatoes and toast. One of the best breakfasts I had in a long time. My coworker had the patty melt which came with a mountain of thick cut fries and onion rings. He said it was also good. The wait was longer than expected, but figure they are still new and working it out. I will be back for sure. The place is small, only 4 or 5 tables. I expect a line down the street at peak times once word gets out. EDIT… downgraded to 3 stars. Been back a couple of further times. Portions have been downsized dramatically. Had chorizo and eggs again. Now only half a plate and 2(not 4) pieces of toast. Yet same price. Also service seems a little slow for a place so small.
