Amazing in every way. Allergy friendly… the chef is very accommodating. Can not say enough good things about this restaurant.

The food was good – very good– BUT we were told, the minute we sat down at 5:35, that they would need to turn the table. We were reminded often. Kind of puts a damper on the evening. And when we all said that our second glass of wine didn’t taste like the first, the owner came over and scolded us. Not so friendly. We won’t be back.

A very cute place tucked away in a little shopping area in Ridgefield, very cozy but classy décor. Moderately busy on a Tuesday night I think it must get a little crowded on busy weekends. The staff was very friendly and service was good. The menu features a good variety of modern Italian or Italian inspired dishes, as well as some sandwiches and moderately priced items. Depending on what you are in the mood for this could be a nice budget friendly meal or a bit of a splurge. Overall prices were good for the quality and the area. This was our anniversary, which happened to fall on a Tuesday and I discovered that a lot of my go-to fancy restaurants or ones I’ve been waiting to try, are closed on Tuesdays. I picked Bartolo based on Unilocalers’ reviews. We started with wine and draft beer. Wine selection was nice, beer tasted a little old(my fault for ordering beer at a wine place). We had antipasta and split a beet salad. Both very good but not the best I’ve ever had. For dinner my wife ordered the seafood pasta dish with tarragon cream sauce… mind blowingly good! I had scallops which are served as a daily«chef’s choice» style which featured olives and sausage during our visit. As others have noted they were cooked perfectly. Overall I think this is a good choice for the area if you are looking for a more upscale Italian menu in a nice romantic setting.

Small and cozy but hard to find location. Visited with a table of six. Since it was a Monday night there were only three other occupied tables. One server. A pleasant person but with a tendency for prolonged chat that resulted in neglect for the other patrons. Made the classic mistake of ordering the fish on a Monday. One dish was scallops and one salmon. The ingredients for both were obviously left over from the weekend. Could not be finished. The bolonase was hearty and rich but we also suspect it was leftover from the day before. I inquired about the«authentic» carbonara but was told it was quite creamy. Those that have actually enjoyed authentic carbonara know there is no cream in the recipe. The owners have been around and very successful in town for many years but after four or five visits here I have to observe they are not putting forth their best effort.

Excellent food. I had the Cesar salad which was very good. And the seafood also very good. It is small but a cozy atmosphere. Very friendly service. I asked to taste the wine before ordering and the waitress gave me 3 choices before I picked. Overall very good restaurant. We’ll definitely be back.

Ok this is the deal here. Initial review was mediocre due to seating, loudness, etc. things have changed. Went during the week and it was delightful. Service was very good as was the food. A real change from my last visit. Have returned with friends from NYC after eating with them around town. They always want to go back to Bartolo. The seafood over pasta was excellent as was the scallop risotto. The special fried calamari salad hit the mark. Desserts could improve however. Friendly and helpful was the service. Family operated(and run) always always a plus.

Excellent lunch and excellent service The sauce served with the bread is oh so good. I loved the aroma of garlic when I went in. I had the scallops special served over risotto. Not inexpensive but a spectacular dish. Worth every penny

Choose this place based on reviews. Looked forward to a hearty Italian dinner in our neighborhood. Upon being seated we had to wait for menus since there weren’t enough menus for us to look at. Thank goodness we had the board to look at albeit no prices on it… We started with bean broccoli crostini but were given beet and potato instead. Our server was wonderful and noticed the error and quickly corrected it by bringing us what we ordered. Rigatoni bolognese had barely enough pasta, maybe 5 pieces and for pasta that you can get in the same shopping center for .99 cents a pound? My chopped chicken salad had less than a quarter pound of chicken, maybe 5 chopped pieces. Obviously the people who recommended this place must not go out much.

Made reservations on Saturday night before Labor Day with a couple from Houston. Have not eaten here since last year. All aspects of the meal and service was excellent. Only reason for 4 stars is the poached pear dessert was under whelming. Excellent service and some interesting selections on the wine list where there is an attempt to go beyond the usual offering. Specifically there is a current interest in making available wines from Sicily.

Great dining experience. We ordered the calamari appetizer, diver scallops and fettucini special with lobster, shrimp and sausage. The first thing I must commend was the bread. It had a touch of olive oil and was served with house marinara. Absolutely incredible. Portions were very generous. The scallops were perfectly cooked and very fresh. When the pasta dish came, I noticed that there was more seafood on the plate. The chef actually forgot the lobster but I didn’t even notice because there was so much food. Before I dug in, the chef came out with a dish of sautéed lobster and apologized for leaving it out. I think it was very professional of him to bring out the lobster personally and apologize, and I would rather that than them throwing a perfectly good dish away just because it was missing something. The ambience was very nice and the staff was helpful and attentive. Great restaurant.

Bartolo is a rustic hidden gem in Ridgefield. Authentic hip Italian cuisine. Fresh and done right. Small and intimate but doesn’t feel crowded, never loud. Good drinks and service are top notch. Check out wine list and dinner specials. Meatballs, fried mozzarella, risotto croquettes(rice balls that only I knew from cousins in LI and Brooklyn) Sea bass and more. Everything we had was perfect ! Lunching in the afternoon with my sister, she loves the shellfish, clams, mussels, etc. I love a good salad and you can always finish with a cappuccino, tiramisu and gelato. You can’t go wrong . I will bring my kids here and my office for lunch or a party. If you love Italian, there is a lot to love here! Dine inside or in patio Love Love Love

Always have a great meal and wonderful service. The short rib ravioli is supreme. Their pastas are all freshly made. Last meal I had was a seafood fettuccine in a delicate sauce. Definitely going back

The food here is absolutely delicious. The chef does a wonderful job and is really kind! It’s hidden away, but it’s such a great restaurant for lunch or dinner. I really recommend the filet mignon. The short rib ravioli is really tasty and wonderful for the table. Definitely the best Italian restaurant in Ridgefield and the prices are really reasonable.

Came here on a Friday evening for a nice dinner and a very nice dinner is what I got. My fiancé and I like dry Rieslings and nothing of this type was listed on the menu. When we asked if they had any in the bar they were not hesitant to offer us any. Wine was great only complaint was for the price of two glasses I could have purchased two bottles but my fiancé reminded me we are paying for the atmosphere. A cool look of the dining room is there is a glass window where you can watch the chef literally cook. Great view and kitchen looked decently clean. Dining room is very cramped and dark with low lighting. I don’t enjoy eating on top of someone else or having a hard time seeing the person across from me. When I’m at home in bed then you can turn down the lights do I can watch tv and fall asleep. I like to be awake and vibely in restaurants. We ordered a riceball appetizer to start with which was delicious. We then had a fish and a meat both came with mashed potatoes. The potatoes and meats were both delicious except her potatoes were ice cold compared to our main dishes and my scoop of potatoes. The wait staff was a little all over the place, one staff member couldn’t get any tables correct when brining out food. Thanks but I don’t need my food offered to everyone before it finds my table. I would probably come back and give the place another shot down the road. Ps: hard location to find down a hill in the back so keep your eyes open.

I can’t speak for dinner, because I’ve only ever ordered lunch here, but they have some really awesome flatbreads, good salads, and crostinis that are to die for! I highly recommend the wild mushroom or beet ones.

Went to Bartolo last night with another couple. Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful service. Started the night with a lemondrop martini which was amazing. I had the scallop special and the beet salad. All very good and reasonable in price for Ridgefield. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We will be back!

What a great jewel to find in Ridgefield. Great dark and Manhattan sophisticated environment. Great mixology drinks, beautifully familiar Italian-American plates with fresh ingredients that would satisfy even the most urban palate. The right balance of comfort, style, smartness. They’ve got my regular business!(Bonus: they don’t close between lunch and dinner… great mid day retreat).

Went to Bartolo last night. Had the the Tuscan stew and roasted beet salad, wife had sea bass special both were excellent dishes. I loved the bread with the marinara sauce. I just have a few negatives, first I thought the wine I ordered a gnarly head malbec was a bit pricey at $ 11.00 a glass, and second was our server which turns out to be Julia the chefs wife. all I will say about it she was not in a good place, bill came and I was charged twice for the wine, when this was brought to Julia’s attention she seemed to get upset and when she returned with the corrected bill she kind of plopped it on the table. As the saying goes first impressions are the lasting ones. To sum it up food reasonable priced, nice atmosphere, but our server not so happy, I would return and recommend Bartolo to my friends and and family. Smile Julia

Bartolo is probably the best value for your money in Ridgefield, which has some very fine restaurants, but also very pricey ones. We love the Tuscan stew and the all the crostini’s, especially the beets. My wife loves their flatbread pizza. It’s a cute and cozy place, with a newly done outdoor area that is very nice for al fresco dining. It was one of my late mom’s favorite places, and she was a great cook in her day! Keep up the good work, and we’ll continue to be regulars :)

We went with our friends tonight and it wasn’t easy to find but once we did– what a gem! There is a big glass window to watch the kitchen at work and everything was delicious. Julia, the owner filled us in on the different dishes and made some good recommendations. The warm spinach salad was very good and the bread with sauce to start was tasty too. The pasta is homemade and cooked perfectly. My pappardelle with lobster in a tarragon sauce was finger licking good. The lazy lasagna fabulous, the fillet mignon with risotto yummy and the pasta with pesto. Shrimp, lobster also excellent. Then came dessert with a fabulously light orange crème brûlée and a yummy tiramisu. We enjoyed every moment of our meal at Bartolo. Definitely will return.
