I went for brunch here this past Sunday and I have to say it is now one of my favorite places in Ridgewood to eat. The food was fantastic and the care the chef and owner put towards preparation and quality of the ingredients was far superior to any place I frequent. No matter what your diet is — paleo, gluten free, vegan, health oriented — you have found where you belong! Even if you just like delicious food, prepared with care, love, and a focus on food to nourish your body and soul; this is the place!!!

Terrible service and the food is just«ok». Went there with family and friends and had to wait 50 minutes just to get water. I had to go look for our waiter and ask him about bringing them to our table to what he replied«we don’t have any clean glasses»… All in, we waited 1 hr to get our food. I asked for a soup that never arrived. The table next to us had to go through the same. At least when my wife finished her salad the water finally came! I guess someone felt like washing the dishes by then. Never again.

I wouldn’t want to waste a lot of time writing this, to add to the hour we wasted on a precious Sat afternoon, when we ended up having to leave without being served the salad and soup that we ordered, and a ham-handed job of an omelette that was dished out just as we were about to leave. 20 minutes after our order was taken, the owner came to us to apologize for the delay, and say how he was short of a server and a chef, but that he will make sure we would be served soon. To cut a long and frustrating story short, nearly an hour after we placed the order, our food ended up being served to the adjacent table by the owner. Our kind neighbors then decided to keep the food(we could see they had also been waiting a long time!). We brought this to the attention of the sole hapless waiter, who was completely frazzled by that time, and after some pleading with the chef, got us the above referred omelette. When they were short staffed, why did the owner not limit the number of customers, or at the least forewarn them of the potential wait time — it was simply terrible, terrible customer service and taking customers for granted. By far our worst dining experience in a very long time. In fact, i don’t think we have ever needed to step out without having been served. I realize I have ended up writing quite a bit — I guess the frustration had to find a release!

Ugh … I needed a few days to write this review to wrap my head around this experience … The only good thing was the gluten free selection … It took 45 minutes to get chili which was all wrong, we ordered turkey chili, we got the 3 bean and when we pointed it out the waiter came back with 3 bean chili with crumbled COLD ground turkey like did he just take out cold ground turkey and drop it in the 3 bean chili!?! then another 45 minutes to get a burger … 20 minutes for coffee. Not one person knew what they were doing. A couple next to us got up and left bcuz the waiters forgot about them. They need a lot of help. For such a good selection I would suggest hiring some knowledgeable ppl with gluten experience. Our waiters blamed each other the whole time and made excuses.

Went for lunch and waited about 40 minutes before we asked the chef how much longer our omelets would be and the chef rudely said that if we didn’t like it we could go across the street to Raymond’s. Understand that the food is prepared freshly but two omelets shouldn’t take that long. 40 minutes plus and still didn’t start our order. Also, noticed while we were waiting that every table’s order had some type of mistake. Wound up leaving after the chef’s rude comment.

Took my kids today for lunch… what a great place !! Everything was absolutely delicious !!! One of the best places around that services healthy, made from scratch, fresh ingredients… Basically everything on a menu can be made gluten– free … We can not wait to be back for breakfast, lunch and dinner … Btw I never write reviews so this little gem made such an impression that I had to share … I just hope their quality of food and service will never change as they get busy!

For such a simple restaurant and a relatively limited menu so much seem to go wrong in so short amount of time. We did not make any unusual requests, but managed comically to have almost none of our meals served correctly. I chose a price fixed — meal which was supposed to come with soup and a salad and they forgot to serve the salad and they forgot to serve the soup and when they did serve the soup it was cold and had a be returned for reheating. The soup was served along with my steak which was adequate but not anything remarkable. One of my dining companions ordered a salad with fruits on it and when it came with no fruit the owner explained that some people are allergic to fruit and he was waiting to see if we want it. I cannot begin to tell you how wrong that statement was and the salads were expensive, you would expect something much more elaborate for the amount of money they charged. My friend who did order an appetizer with gluten-free bread said that the bread was tasty. So that goes to prove that they don’t do everything wrong. At the end of the meal nobody came to give us a check or to take the check when we were done. Surprisingly they did not offer any kind of coffee or dessert which worked out very well because we found a wonderful restaurant elsewhere where they charge a lot but surprisingly had delicious dishes.

I have been trying to eat healthy for a while, and I must say I am excited to see this little restaurant in Ridgewood! I tried their zucchini«pasta»(I quote pasta because there is no traditional carb pasta in there. It’s zucchini made into strings.). It is very tasty and hits the spot. While I was there, I overheard another customer complaining that the food was bland. I do not know what he ordered, but this restaurant differentiates themselves by serving health-conscious food. They don’t use a ton of salt. My dish was delicious, but I can see that people accustomed to fast food or greasy Americanized Chinese takeout may not appreciate what this little gem of restaurant has to offer.

I had the grass fed burger and I was blown away by how incredible it was. You can tell how they don’t use salt or sugar or anything that is bad for you as the food is full of flavor on its own. The sweet potato fries were also done to perfection and not overly salted like most restaurants do. I will definitely be back to try more items and it’s nice to have a healthy option in town wishing you all the future success!

Very excited about this much needed new addition to downtown Ridgewood! Very healthy menu options but still delicious options for your not so health focused meal companion(my husband thoroughly enjoyed a grass fed beef burger with goat cheese and sautéed onions) I loved my veggie chili and zucchini pasta! This is definitely is my new lunch date spot in town! Can’t wait to try the all day breakfast menu!

Service was great. Vegetarian chile was excellent. They gave us a taste of Hungarian mushroom soup that had what tasted like a touch of truffle oil that was excellent. Chopped salad was great and beautifully presented. Great addition to the ridgewood scene

Sensible Fork is the newest addition to the competitive Ridgewood restaurant scene having just fully opened on January 2. Met the owner and the executive chef, both are enthusiastic and fantastic. I must say, first off, I’ve been in long-term mourning since our go-to restaurant, Gazelle, closed its doors a few years ago. Well, I think I’m done with that phase of my life having found Sensible Fork. Secondly, the Sensible Fork sub-caption, «gluten-free, breakfast and brunch» are completely misleading. It should say, «local, naturally raised, breakfast, lunch and dinner with gluten free options». So lets(somehow get that changed). Finally, the meal. We ordered and shared a cheese burger, three bean turkey chili, a shrimp wrap and sweet potato fries(requested well-done on the fries). Quick conclusion, everything was DELICIOUS. The Three Bean Turkey Chili, the executives chef’s recipe, was excellent. No too spicy and not too bland. Perfectly seasoned. The Sweet Potato Fries, an option vs. house salad with an entrée, are cut relatively thin, and when ordered«well done», are indeed WELLDONE. Sweet potato fries are difficult, to me, to get just right. I’m most often disappointed when I order these. Not this time. PERFECTION. All Natural, Grass Fed beef hamburger(locally sourced) has been a craving of mine since giving up CAFO meat products several years ago. Good golly, I’m happy I came back to beef on this one. THANKYOU, CHEF. Finally, the Grilled Shrimp Wrap. Lovely grilled veggies — plenty of nicely done but firm portobello mushrooms(texture) and a perfectly done grilled shrimp in every bite. Balsamic vinegar based condiment on the side, not needed(but also very good). Ridgewood — stop cooking. This is the place to eat.
