Clavios Eatery

Clavio’s is no longer located on the corner of 5^th ave and Triton College. They still are offering their food service within Triton College Cafeteria. Their fried ravioli and chicken wings are the BOMB. Compared to Sneakers Bar chicken wings, they are similar in deliciousness and size.

An Update:
One of the owners came in to my work and apologized and straightened out the situation. I didn’t realize that free delivery was one of the 5 free coupons and that you can’t combine coupons. He offered to buy me lunch but I refused because the fact that he came in and wanted to talk to me personally meant far more to me and how they value their customers than and free lunch ever possibly could.
As I stated, food is really good and honestly, I forgot my lunch one day this week and realized that I missed my go to place.
Because of that gesture, I will definitely order from there again!!!

Clavios is an above average, no-​frills, hot-​dog stand over by Triton Community College. They do excellent burgers, hot dogs and gyros, but one of the most exceptional items on the menu is their buffalo chicken sandwich. I really like how all the burgers and other «bun» style sandwiches are served on a delicious brioche bun rather than some cheap white-​bread style bun. Beefs are decent, but the jus is a little on the watery side, making it not quite ideal for dipped beef sandwiches. The BLT on a pita is quite tasty too. It’s a hot-​dog stand, nothing fancy, but it hits the spot.

Nothing special, just you regular hot dog stand kinda grub. The place is in serious need of a makeover! It’s not the type of place that welcomes you to stick around and eat. the staff must be aware of this because the cashier said to me, «you want this to go, RIGHT?» I never said I wanted it to go but since he insisted…
I had a gyro which seemed smaller than most fast food gyros. Fine by me — it’s always too much food anyway. It was a bit greasy for my taste and I was only given a small dollop of tzatki sauce. The fries were pretty good. They weren’t fresh cut by any means but still had the skins on.

There are hot dog joints and then there are true «Hawt Dawg Joynts» and while not located within the city limits of Chicago –Clavios is by far the best joynt you can visit! Clavios has been a go-​to lunch spot for me for the past five years and they have yet to disappoint. I have eaten my way through their menu and probably owe them at least 10 pounds, a pant size and a cardiogram.
In addition to excellent dogs –made your way– meaning no restrictions on ketchup or anything else you ‘d like on your dog; they have a burger selection to keep you happy and full for an entire afternoon. Everything is fresh made-​to-​order so your fries are always hot and burger toppings crispy. Gyros? You betcha! Carved right off the spinning cylinder of heart-​stopping goodness. Feel like you want to go lighter? You can choose from a selection of generous salads, always freshly made or a turkey burger. (Full disclosure — I’ve never had the turkey burger, it just seems… wrong. A burger? Made from turkey?) Clavios also offers home made soup and a limited selection of dessert.
This is a counter joynt but has a nice sized seating area where you never feel rushed and is kept immaculate. Better yet is the happy, friendly staff. Everyone seems very happy to work at Clavios and over my five years i have seen very little turnover — which is another good sign you’re in a family place. There is always a happy greeting when you arrive and a «See you next time» when you leave.

Sometimes when you get away from Chicago proper hot dog joints can be tricky but Clavios beats the pants off of its competition. It may not have been here for decades but Clavios is run by a family who understands how to make a Hawt Dawg Joynt sing.
