I have been coming to Ryan’s place for about 4 moths now and I have to say it is my favorite place for lunch. Their lunch specials change every day but they always have fresh salads. I really love coming here not just for the food but the staff is so friendly and welcoming. The hours for lunch and breakfast vary but it is worth the drive.

I love Chef Ryans Place for a few reasons. 1. The food — It is always decent and the pricing is good for the amount of food you get. I am always full after eating a $ 5.50 lunch special. The breakfast burritos are stellar in the morning as well. 2. The Staff — The people here are so friendly and accommodating. I have made special requests many times that are always accommodated. I really like talking with them and can see that they enjoy what they do. All in all it is a great cheap place for a meal. It seems like you are in the wrong place the first time you go but after that you will be like family.

Chef Ryan’s Place is a cash only, cafeteria-style restaurant that is a part of the Riverside Unified School District Nutrition Services building. It is open to the community, though it is often filled with RUSD staff. Menus for breakfast and lunch specials change weekly and are different for every day. You can find those on the RUSD website. I’ve found their portioning to be adequate, sometimes more than necessary. Breakfast(3 – 6 dollar range): I used to come here regularly for their breakfast burritos, which you can get every weekday, and which are made to order. There is some quality variance with which staff member makes these, but they are usually pretty good and sometimes overly filling.(The primary reasons I stopped coming here as frequently were time constraints and dietary changes). Lunch(5 – 8 dollar range): They keep certain items on hand every day, like salads and sandwiches. The specials often emphasize southern-style cooking, and are typically good. Parking: The lot is usually full, but you can also parallel park along Industrial Street, where it wraps around the RUSD building and is actually pretty close to the restaurant entrance. Overall, Chef Ryan’s is a pretty decent place for breakfast and lunch. The only down sides are that you have to have cash to eat here, and the food quality can vary between great and merely average.
