Conscious Cafe

This place is my favorite find in Kansas City. The service was friendly, the food and beverage offerings vary widely and the set up is great for groups and loners.
I needed to find a place open early (7am) that served a healthy breakfast and Unilocal and Conscious Café delivered. It was a quick mile off the highway on my way to the airport making this place fairly convenient from MCI/​KCI.
I ordered the Hulk, a protein breakfast with veggies, apples and lemon. Almost too much lemon but I liked that the shake was not too sweet or too earthy. I really appreciated that you could choose between a whey protein or a vegan protein. It was a satisfying breakfast that lasted me through the morning.
The setup here had everything you could want: outdoor seating, plenty of tables, a cozy spot for a small group, and a bar type seating for solos.
If I am near the MCI airport I will stop here again.

First time there today, and it was great! I had a lox bagel — which was great & a value at $ 6.50! My buddy ordered & enjoyed the Cubano. I had the Quinoa salad as a side– yummy w/​Greek olives, dressing & feta cheese.
I had an espresso drink — sodas come in cans — but, the water bar was a treat — mint & oranges infused a large glass vessel at a self serve bar. One orders at the counter & food delivers to the table. I will certainly remember this spot for future alfresco dining… As the east side patio, partially covered, overlooks a verdant Creekside. Interior Decour, was fresh, featuring two televisions, a four seat coffee nook, a coffee bar & a few large tables amongst 2 & 4 top tables. Even the to go containers are upscale– dishwasher and microwave safe reusable containers. About a mile from my house I’ll definitely be back and not sure how it took me almost a year to find them. They have a complete juice bar in this morning’s special involved avocado, berries, juices, some green antioxidant stuff, and protein powder for just four dollars. Someday perhaps I will be in a healthy kick mode… But, not this day– lol.

I wouldnt come back. Im not a coffee person but I thought I would give them a try. I first asked if they could make a strawberry banana smoothie and no one knew how. I looked at ordering another smoothie off of their menu and I wanted to have something taken out of it and they daid they couldnt do that since it was premade already. The workers didnt seem to know what they were doing since they kept yelling to other employees to ask questions. (which i understand but we are also talking very basic questions.) I opted out so I just waited on my husbands drink.

Out of town, looking for a family breakfast. Located this place as a result of positive reviews on Unilocal.They didn’t disappoint. Wonderful meal, extremely friendly, and many healthy options. We will definitely be back. THANK YOU!

We had an extra long layover in KC and omg this was the absolute best breakfast spot for these weary travelers. Delicious healthy food, great for vegans and omnivores alike. My toddler was on little sleep and she was happy the entire time with her oatmeal and fruit. Hubs had the egg scramble, while I had eggs and avocado on toast. The bread is fresh and locally made. The muffins are from scratch each morning. The coffee is smooth and the water has pineapple floating in it, everything is perfect. The staff are absolutely inviting and sweet. We didn’t wait long at all for food and if we’re ever here again we will 100% return!

The steak and spinach quinoa bowl is awesome. i can’t wait to try the wraps or paninis.

Super good. I came planning on having the veggie burger, but went for the special… Mediterranean grilled cheese. It was really good as was the soup. There are some comments about no vegan options and while that is kinda true the staff is so kind and accommoding I’m sure they would sub anything. The coffee was well prepared.

I like the fact it’s just right around the corner from work but I hate they close at 3:00, very friendly staff always doing whatever they can to help ya and food good & healthy !

Tried this place today after looking up local places to eat (I’m new here) and it was wonderful. Usually don’t write reviews but their soup of the day (chicken and vegetable, on a Monday) was the best I ever had. And the turkey caprese was great as well. Just don’t let the location fool you, once you’re inside you forget the outside. Though the outdoor seating is nice regardless. I’ll be back for sure.

Really pleasant find in Northland. Good food and service. Really like the space too. Only negative is plastic utensils. Try eating a bowl of soup with a little plastic spoon! (Won’t even mention irony of name vs. disposables)

Great staff, amazing/​healthy food, quiet/​chill vibe, and free wifi– what else does a girl need?!
I’m going to be honest– I wasn’t excited. I definitely relearned that you cannot judge a book by its cover! The instant I stepped inside I no longer felt like I was in a strip center! The staff was incredible, they made sure we had everything we needed and went through and explained the menu to us! They had an adorable water/​seasoning station (infused water– yes please!)! There are plenty of tables, of all different sizes, so plenty of room to spread out! My meal was so AMAZING, my mom and I are already planning on going back!

Good coffee, not the best I’ve had but still good. The décor and the building are well done up. The service however was pretty sad. The employees are not all that friendly or welcoming. I’ll probably return because the prices were pretty good.

Hidden gem! Great atmosphere and delicious food. Between my wife and I we had the jammin chicken, turkey Ruben, fruits n grains salmon salad, and salt and vinegar chips. I recommend trying them all!

Great food, great people and service! Very friendly staff, they have a nice indoor café and patio! We will be coming here all the time, we highly recommend it! :)

This place as become my daily coffee destination and a bi-​weekly lunch spot simply for the fact they are near my work. Now that they have been open a few weeks and I have become a ‘regular”, I would go out of my way to visit if they were no longer next door.
They are simply the coolest place in Riverside (although it doesn’t take much to compete with Red X, Quick Trip, Subway, and Dirty Dons fireworks — sorry Riverside, your day has not yet arrived).
The owners have put together a spacious welcoming atmosphere with KC skyline pics covering an entire wall, an outdoor patio, coffee bar and even having musicians play on Monday’s at lunch. The staff is awesome and great to chat with (Josh and Avalon).
The food is fresh ingredients and prepared in front of you. I have had a summer berry salad, steak/​cilantro empanadas, chicken kabobs with couscous, crab cakes… Its all been fantastic and the prices are very nice. Usually the daily specials are $ 5. Try spending that at the nearby chain and getting fresh ingredients and made to order.

I had driven past this place daily, not realizing it was open. I enjoyed my lunch/​sandwich. Lots of lunch options. Food was very fresh. I dont understand what the other reviewer (Tom T) was saying about «conscious». They use post consumer materials for plates, cups, silverware, napkins. I think the «conscious» part of the place for me was; fresh, healthy, right sized portions. There are no fried options, no soda stations for unlimited refills, etc (a good thing). There were chips served on the side. I would have preferred a bag versus plating them on side. The place was spotless. Service is a little slow but everything is made to order/​perfection. Worth the wait. Try the «Cuban: with raspberry jalapeño sauce. Check this place out.

Like Paul B., we had driven by without knowing it was open for business. It’s kind of hidden in a strip center off of Vivion Road. Tried it today just before closing time, and were pleased with what we had. We shared empanadas, beef & cilantro and tomato and mozzarella. While tiny and very crispy on the edges, the flavor was AWESOME.
I think the «conscious» part of the name means you should be aware of what you’re eating.
The interior is VERY nice and comfortable, and the staff is wonderful.
We will definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

Had great food. Now I am chillaxing a bit. I have had their Cuban sandwich which is excellent. Veggie burger is very nice today. It is truly unique. I will be telling everyone about the place. Look at the pictures I posted. It’s brand new so the word is not around yet but this place is my favorite coffee shop style of place.
