Went back here not quite a year-ish…and its closed. Lights out, furniture and fixtures in a bit of a disarray or missing. Quite sad really. Its end was not fitting for such a decent place, not to mention convenient when I worked at the Hines VA Hospital. Dr Pizza will be missed.

They closed down, at least they’re not in the same space anymore.

Excellent pizza, we ordered the 3 slices and a pop for the kids and the adults had the pan pizza. Went in with a big group after halloween and these guys were totally cool with the kids running out in the dining area. The lasagna was also very good(per the bro in law). This is close to my house and I shall return for a quick slice of cheese pizza!

Pizza is really a matter of preference and Dr. Pizza just doesn’t quite do it for me. This isn’t bad pizza; it’s just not my favorite. I should note that even though the pizza is pretty average to me, my family is a big fan. A lot of the time, Dr. Pizza appears like a beacon of light after a long vacation or a day out of town because it’s located on the exact route we often take to get home. On nights like that when it’s 10PM and we’re starving for dinner, this pizza tastes like a comforting, delicious bite of home. The crust is kind of yeasty and heavy and the seasoning in the sauce rubs me the wrong way(and always seems to get stuck in my teeth). But sometimes, it’s just what the doctor ordered. Even if I don’t go wild for this pizza, it is not bad pizza. The price is right. The hours are right. The location is right. As a result, I will continue to be an every-once-in-a-while customer here.

It is what it is. The pizza at Dr. Pizza is bready and heavy. Have no doubt, you are FILLEDUP after just a couple of slices. It’s probably the perfect pizza to eat in preparation for a big night of drinking(or after one). But that said, there is no verve or innovation to this pizza. It’s very standard. Just bready and heavy. Nothing to write home about. The experience of placing an order at Dr. Pizza is interesting. There’s all this… stuff stacked to the right of the counter where you order. Stuff like ferns and old chairs and bikes and a broken ATM.(It’s like somebody’s using the entrance to Dr. Pizza as overflow from their garage.) Also, the guys who work there look about 15. But in conclusion, while I wouldn’t make a point to seek this place out, if you’re in the area anyway and need something to quell that ranging hangover, the doctor has got what you need.

The service at Dr. Pizza was prompt, ordered my pizza and was out within minutes. On a side note, the place wasn’t really swarming with customers… perhaps because it was a Wednesday night? I ordered the«daily special», which at the time equated to two slices of pizza and a soda for $ 5. «Not bad» was my thinking before I opened my box and took a peek inside. The taste of the pizza was decent, for the price, but I don’t particularly like my pizza looking pale aka undercooked. I had about three bites and was done. Maybe the ovens need to be replaced? Perhaps there’s a new chef in town? I am willing to give this place another shot but will probably have to specify that I like my pizza a little more brown in color.

Dr. Not-so-good pizza was delivered to work. It was below par. Frankly, a $ 5 hot-n-ready would have been better. I can see that this place is supported only by people who grew up on it. Its kind of like poisoned lake michigan water. If you are raised on it — you cant tell the difference until it shortens your life by 5 years.

I have to say Dr. Pizza has grown on me over time. I’m still not a fan of most Chicago pizzas which I’ve generally found to be heavy, greasy, salty, and with crusts that taste like cardboard. But the one exception for me is Dr. Pizza. Despite not being true thin crust, somehow they manage to get it right. First off the crust, when fresh, has a nice yeasty flavor to it. It exterior is crispy and inside doughy, but not bland. Love the sweet, tangy, and tomatoey pizza sauce. They sometimes go a little heavy on the cheese but it’s good too and stands up well to the thick crust. This is pretty much a hole in the wall. Interior leaves a lot to be desired and I recommend carry out if you go here. Pizza slices are still available all day but just remember to get them around lunch time when the pizza is fresh otherwise it’s no good after it’s been sitting around all day.

The service here was really great but I have to say I’m not at all a fan of their pizza. And honestly, when it comes to pizza it’s really about personal preference so I almost feel bad giving them only three stars. Their crust is much thicker than I like for a standard pizza. Their sauce is entirely too sweet. They did get my well-done request right and the delivery was quick with a piping hot pie.

Decent pizza for the price. Sauce isn’t too sweet. Though my slice had enough sauce on it for my taste, it may be too much for others. It’s a smaller slice than, say, Nonno’s(and especially Dinico’s), but close to the Al’s near Target. They still have the 2 slice & drink for $ 5 special that others asked about, which is nice.(Though the 2 slices equals about 1 slice of DiNico’s, at least they sell theirs in smaller sizes for cheaper). I enjoyed it and would definitely go back. Sandwich prices look decent so I will try a few in later visits.

Ehh… Pizza shouldn’t be rubbery and sweet, yuck. Sauce tasted like Ragu. Weak, never again.

Now this is what I call a Pizza Joint! All these national pizza chains can’t beat these hole in the wall pizza places where they know how to make a pizza! Maybe it’s not the healthiest thing to eat, but a pizza needs all that extra grease, all those over the top pepperoni slices, and that sausage you can’t seem to get anywhere outside of Chicagoland. And the charm of it all is the pizza’s are so simple and delicious! Magnificent!

I use to frequent this place often w/my friends after coming back from seeing some show in the city. Like people stated below, you could get 2 slices of pizza and a soda for 5 $. I don’t know if they changed it to only being a lunch special, but back when I use to go here you could get it anytime of day. The pizza here is okay, and the Dr. Sticks were pretty incredible if I remember correctly. Hot, soft, huge sticks w/lots of pamesan cheese on top… Mmm memories. Also, someone once told me they use to deliver pizza in an old ambulance, if this is true then there is no reason you shouldn’t support this place.

Dr. Pizza is the way to go for inexpensive slices of great pizza. Their lunch special is 2 slices and a fountain soda for 5 bucks. You order at the counter and they bring the slices out to your table. I go to the doctor at least once a month.

Dr. Pizza has definitely gotten better over the years, the atmosphere has always made me feel welcome and is a common hangout spot for highschoolers after a school event… The pizza isn’t the best but i have had worse. Dr. Pizza as a company is very active in the community by giving donations to schools and charities aswell as giving a lot of high school students their first job… Their doing in the community definitely makes up for where the food lacks

Dr. Pizza used to have this daily special of 2 slices of pizza and a soda for a measly $ 5. The pizza was decent and pretty cheap. They also had«Doctor Sticks» — thick 2″ wide breadsticks with a little garlic and cheese. They were so good, I may have to go rrevisit my past…
