I love this place! Atmosphere is great, food is fantastic. My favorite is the Merks Cheese Burger with bacon. The fries are great, really all the appetizers are good. Me and my friends Always have a blast here.

Been to this place multiple times … Never had a dissatisfied or disappointed meal… I truly enjoy the shredded iceberg lettuce over the leaf on my burger but hey, I like what I like … Every meal has been hot and fresh… Awesome food for a corner bar! A must try!

This place is awesome, found it totally on a whim. The open garage door caught my attention. It is a diverse and pleasant crowd. The bar staff are friendly and make you feel like a friend on first contact! The owner Mark is down to earth and Kevin works magic in the kitchen!!! I recommend the steak tacos and Tavern Flatbread!!!

After discovering this place about a month ago I have come in with my significant other 4 times. The first time was on a Thursday and the special for that day was $ 3 craft beers and $ 2 sliders. We both got a couple Revolution Anti-Heroes to go with our burgers(we went with the regularly priced full-sized burgers) and we left very satisfied. The service was good and we felt we had found our new favorite spot. The next two times we came in were on different days so the beer was normally priced. The food was not up to par — the burgers just weren’t cooked as nicely, but such is life. Once we went with the Tavern Fish Fry special for $ 8. We were surprised when it came out and was half shrimp. Shouldn’t that be advertised on the menu? What if I have an allergy or extreme dislike for shrimp? As it was, we ate it anyway and went on our way, pledging to only come back on Thursdays for the $ 3 craft beer special. That brings us to today. We went in to get a couple $ 3 craft beers and regularly priced burgers. When we asked the server what the Revolution beer was with the white handle(since we couldn’t see it) she responded that she wasn’t sure. She said it was«Little…» I interjected with«A Little Crazy?» and she responded«A Little Sumpin’?» I explained that A Little Sumpin’ is a Lagunitas beer, so this one must be A Little Crazy. I said«$ 3 craft today, right?» and she said«but not Revolution.» Umm okay, how is Revolution not included in the category of «craft beer»? We asked her to double check if that was correct, to which she yelled the question into the kitchen/back room area. She turned back to tell us that the Revolution and Guinness beers were not discounted. Okay… We decided we would stay anyway since we had come all this way, but she never gave us a menu! She never even made eye contact with us again so that we could ask for one. We weren’t about to beg to be served food, so we drank our beer and left. On the way out we noticed the owner/manager sitting at a table(we recognized him from previous visits) so we approached him to share our experience, expecting him to care. We explained that we had been served Revolution as a $ 3 craft beer in the past, and that we were disappointed with our service today as we came to spend our money and eat but were never offered a menu. He replied that whoever previously gave us the Revo for $ 3 was wrong. I explained that on the BCT website it simply states $ 3 for craft beer, without exceptions, and he interrupted me to say that he gets to choose which beers. Fair enough, I said, but it should be stated online that it is not all craft beer. He didn’t seem to care. I reiterated that the main problem was the bartender’s attitude and the fact that she never gave us a menu, and his response was something along the lines of «well hopefully our next attempt will be better.» I told him I don’t imagine we’ll be coming back, and he made no attempt to convince me otherwise. All and all out of 4 visits, only one time made me want to come back and spend my money. Building regulars is an important part of any restaurant, but due to a poor attitude from the server(and her lack of knowledge of the beers she was pouring), plus an apathetic manager and inconsistent quality of the burgers, we will not be coming back.

Pleasantly surprised at how nice this place is! It’s just a hop, skip and jump from work, so a few coworkers stopped by for happy hour(instead of going to kickboxing class— oops!). The outside lot is small, so take the alley to the first side street to find easy parking. The inside has ample bar seating and tables(although our table was pretty shaky!), with exposed brick and lots of beer memorabilia. It had a nice vibe. Drink specials were abundant and cheap on this day– $ 3 craft beers(which ended up being all the beers we picked, from bud light to purple haze), mixed drinks were about $ 6– not bad overall! There was just one bartender for the whole place, and she was handling serving food, checking on tables and tending the bar all at once. She came by frequently and came back with refills in no time. I was impressed! For food, they have a good looking menu of bar food options– wings, burgers, and apps. They offer a burger of the month, which was the turkey sweet and spicy«health» burger(they had that word in quotes too!). 3 of us got that, and it was delicious! A juicy, savory burger, topped with smoked gouda, pineapple and sriracha. I’d never had pineapple on a burger or sriracha sauce before, but I enjoyed it all. It was served with an ample side of sweet potato fries. There was nothing left by the end! All in all, great experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to return!

Amazing burgers! I had the one with pineapple on it. I devoured it! So good! And low prices! Service was good. I think they were setting up for karaōke, but we were just in to eat dinner. We’ll be back!

I’ve lived in the La Grange Park/North Riverside/Brookfield corridor for about 15 years., and I had my favorite places for a beer on a Saturday afternoon while waiting for the weather to make up its mind… Do we wait to see if it’s going to rain & stay inside? Or should we risk it? My girl and I decided to debate this argument here at Big Corner Tavern at Cermak and First Avenue. First, it has a biker crowd. Bikers are awesome, as it’s always loud, only a certain classic rock on, and bikes & sports everywhere. My kind of place, feels good. We watched the World Cup, had a Revolution Anti-Hero, some chili and chill out. Seemed like a really good crowd, so relaxed and so friendly. Also, the staff was excellent, friendly and attentive. Price was good too. I’ll be back, watch one of their 20 TVs and have more samplings of their great selection of crafts

We just went here for lunch today because it’s close to the hospital… how convenient for us that are sick of the hospital cafeteria food! The interior is clean and open and the seating is comfortable. There were probably 4 other tables filled and a few people at the bar. There was one woman bartending(I wish I’d gotten her name!) and she was helping all of us. Even with her helping everyone in the place she was quick and friendly. I ordered the sliders(they were on special) and my friend ordered the Big Corner Burger. I’m happy and kinda sad about the food. The burgers were a great size(huge!) and the buns were DELICIOUS but the burgers seemed super greasy. However, they weren’t heavy and the meat was cooked well and seemed of great quality. The server also brought us frequent diner punch cards to get a free burger after 6 visits… we’ll have those filled quickly. We’ll definitely return for lunch and I can’t wait to take advantage of enjoying a cocktail outside when the weather warms up. Thumbs up, BCT… we’ll see you soon!

Went with a group for the first time, cocktails and food with friends, what can be better! Food and drinks were both good, service was good. The owner came over and chatted for a while.(NIce Touch!!) Love the Moose head on the wall! Took my boyfriend here for lunch before dragging him out to shop for our SuperBowl party on a Saturday afternoon. Had a really nice lunch, we both ordered wraps that were pretty darn tasty! What I like best is the older crowd, no goofy, drunk 20 somethings who get stupid and ruin everybody elses good time! This may be my new neighborhood go to place!

Looks like a huge dive on the outside, but beers were reasonable and their fries were good– had seasoning on them that was slightly different. Great for afterwork drinks and appetizers

Tried this place out for lunch today. The food was OK. The service was poor. I believe the waitress was overwhelmed, which is still no excuse for her bad attitude. Won’t be going back…

Food was OK, looked better than it tasted. Mushrooms on the burger tasted vinager-ish. and the ranch dressing was AWFUL! Service was not good. We came as a group for an office lunch and couldn’t split the bill with different credit cards. then she says«next time tell me ahead of time». well next time tell ME ahead of time that your ranch dressing is rotten too!
