This place is as good as it gets. Their sandwiches are absolutely to die for and they are gigantic. It might be a little pricey, but you pay for quality. The meat they use is always fresh and the bread is soft. I live in Bannockburn and I always find myself walking to Sub Station for a sandwich whenever I’m hungry. The boss is very friendly, as well as his employees. You can feel a family vibe when you enter. This place also does fundraisers, which is great if you’re in an organization. I definitely recommend this place to anyone. If you do intend to go during lunch hours, get there early because it’s packed! They get so much business, but it’s not a surprise because their sandwiches are absolutely amazing.

Richard, the owner, was incredibly friendly and helpful. He helped my girlfriend and I pick out sandwiches perfectly suited to our own tastes. The hot pastrami and Swiss sandwich is the best sandwich I think I’ve ever had and I’ve been eating sandwiches all my life. My only complaint is that I can’t stop thinking about how much I want another sandwich.

Amazing place with amazing people. The detail they put into their subs, and the taste has me coming back again and again. Fair prices and such a nice casual atmosphere in here. Can’t wait to get the party sub so I can share with more people

Oh my god. As I’m writing this I’m having fantasies about a sandwich from here. Every time I’m in the UCR area I have to stop in for one. It’s been there since the 1970’s I believe, and they have a bunch of cool historic UCR stuff inside. The staff is always friendly and quick, and the owner is really nice too. But the main reason this spot is so cracking is because their sandwiches are BOMB. The bread is so soft and fresh every time, and I am a sucker for a sandwich with shredded lettuce. Also they put some sort of Italian seasoning and olive oil blend on the sandwich, and it is simple but oh so flavorful. They also give you some carrot sticks and a few of those little yellow peppers that are really hot. I always bite the end off and squeeze that spicy vinegary juice on the sandwich. so good! Honestly, they’re a little overpriced, but if you’re looking for quality and freshness, the price can be overlooked.

Awesome little sub shop. The turkey sandwich was simple and everything I expected it to be. Accompanied by spicy banana peppers. Yum!

Service: Very minimal interaction between the customer and staff. I’m not expecting the royal treatment, but at least greet your customers when they enter. Food: Completely average, nothing stood out to me. For the portion sizes, the food is completely overpriced. $ 10 for just a footlong sandwich? I can get an entire meal(that tastes better) at Subway for less.

Wow! Humongous sandwich! I tried the turkey avocado, and it was huge and hefty. The ingredients tagged fresh, especially the loaded guac! It was very well priced too. I like how they have a wide selection, and it feels more like a local, hip joint and not just another franchise. The store itself felt like it’s been there for awhile, and the photo album there reminds customers of its history — very cool. It’s worth the walk as it’s not too far either.

In my humble opinion, I think this place is great! The 7″ sizes are a lot wider than most sandwich places which I really appreciate. I usually get anything that’s hot and with BBQ. It does get crowded during lunch so come at off hours. I got dinner right before they closed and I am a pretty happy camper now. I love how they give you carrots and banana peppers! I will say that their bread is kind of tough. Maybe because I came when they were about to close or because I have weak jaw muscles… Still really tasty though!

I dont get the 5 star reviews! Turkey on my sandwich seemed old and kind of warm. Price is kind of high for a 7″ sandwich. Customer service was fine. No mayo and mustard on the sandwich seemed strange. They use cheap condiments for their mayo and mustard. Make homemade potato salad for petes sake! They obviously use reyers or some other premade potato salad. Thats lazy and cheap I think. Only good thing was the dressing they use is . tastes like balsalmic! Wont ever be back. Waste of dough fo sho!

Best sandwiches anywhere near UCR. Highly recommend the zesty chicken or the turkey w/avocado. Call and place your order in advance. Line can be long around lunch time.

Substation is a little on the expensive side. Especially when you have subway in walking distance. But. The quality of their subs is amazing. I always get the steak and cheese warm sub. And it blows my mind everytime. Even though my expectations grow exponentially higher everytime I go back. The staff is super friendly and the location itself is like a little time traveling cabin. They have thing in the restaurant from when they first opened. It’s quiet most of the time so it’s nice to go for a meet up with a friend. They also have outdoor seating available. For clubs on campus. They do fundraisers. And it’s close proximity to the on campus apartments is great for those members not able to drive far for club functions. One thing though. For some reason everytime I get a coke from substation it’s always flat. But I would endure the microscopic pain of a thousand flat sodas for their steak and cheese subs. Keep an eye out cuz they always have deals. It’ll usually be posted on the chalkboard by the light. On some hot days they give out free cokes. It’s all pretty random.

I was introduced to this place when my wife and I were dating. She would rave about it and I said that I would definitely give it a try. Women are always right… Her favorite sandwich from this awesome place is the marinated cucumber with avocado added with the juice on the side(the juice being oil and vinegar). She is a vegetarian and the reason she loves this place is because of this sandwich. This place is not a vegetarian establishment, but does make sandwiches that cater to that audience. I always get the turkey sandwich and keep forgetting to ask them not to put the pepperoncinis next to the sandwich. They also serve chips, pickles, ice cream, and sodas. Phone your order ahead since it will take them a while to make your sandwich. This is not Subway or Quiznos. It’s the Real McCoy! A bit pricey, but SO worth it. My wife loves it, I love it, now our three little kids love it!!!

My family had dinner here a couple of days ago. This place has excellent sub sandwiches. I had barbeque beef. As usual the food was great. We come here about once or twice a month. It is located close to UCR(University of California, Riverside). It has been around for more than 40 years. They had their 40th anniversary I think last year. For the anniversary they used the 1970s prices for their sandwiches. The décor inside this restaurant is 1970s style. They have wood paneling and some interesting pictures on the walls. They have a few poster boards with pictures of past and present employees and friends. It seems to be like a family run business that has been around for a very long time. Whenever we go here it is always clean and the tables are cleaned when customers leave. We will be coming back again.
