This place is old-guard Greenwich Italian in every way. It’s beautiful but if you’re picturing a high-end restaurant in Greenwich I would think more of Thomas Henkelmann or La Cremaillere than a ranch building on busy Rt 1 within earshot of I95. On my most recent visit we sat in one of the back rooms and I was actually shocked at how poor the décor was compared to some other parts of the restaurant. The food is consistently good but uninspiring and boring, and the service is trained but stuffy. My party wanted to each order wine by the glass(mix of white and red drinkers) but we were given the suggestion that ordering a bottle was a better choice, which was uncomfortable after specifically saying we weren’t interested– there is also no wine list by the glass. The food scene around here has evolved so dramatically in the few years that I just don’t see the appeal of this place anymore with its pricing and consistently bland menu, but it still appeals to a certain subset of the market.

I had my wedding there which far exceeded my expectations! Service was exceptional, food amazing! Everyone said it was the best wedding they have ever been to. Appetizers only. No sit down. Best way to go. I highly recommend Valbella’s for a wedding for under 100 guests.

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever had the pleasure of patronizing. The service is top notch and the food is phenomenal. A must for special occasions or to impress a date.

I may not know how to throw a curveball, or please a woman, or write a decent Unilocal review. One thing that I will be able to teach my son is an appreciation of risotto, however. I have had risotto at a West Village restaurant that serves dozens of varieties of risotto. I have had risotto at an Alphabet City restaurant that doesn’t take credit cards, or reservations, because they can get away with doing that. I have had risotto at an Upper West Side restaurant that would make me their risotto special whenever I wanted, because I ate there three to five times per week. Those were all phenomenal risottos. I have also had plenty of decent risottos, mediocre risottos, terrible risottos, and things that were probably jasmine rice presented as risotto. Tonight, Valbella served me the best risotto I have ever eaten. I don’t say that lightly. I don’t say that to take away from any of the other risottos I have ever eaten. I just say it because it’s true. If my entrée had been terrible, my risotto would have been good enough that I still would have given Valbella a positive review. My entrée wasn’t terrible, though. It was amazing. I just don’t happen to consider myself quite the authority on veal that I am on risotto. i would stack this entrée against any other I have eaten, though. Also, it seems like overkill to mention the chocolate soufflé. It was ridiculous, though. It was completely unnecessary, one-hundred percent gratuitous. I had no capacity to appreciate Valbella beyond what I already did. The soufflé was on par with the rest of the meal, though. From now on, I will no longer be able to say negative things about the entire state of Connecticut. From now on, I’ll have to mention how awesome Valbella is before I talk about how much I hate Connecticut for being the armpit of New England.

The gold standard. Hands down one of my favorite restaurants of all time. A true gem. They have more waiters than customers, so you can imagine the white glove service offered. The food is absolutely incredible. Never had a bad meal. From the absolutely perfect pastas, to the stunning desserts, this is one you must try. Bring your corporate card, bc you pay for what you get. Special occasion kind of place. Side note: Check out the wine cellar of you have the time/means.

Our waiter was very nice. However, my husband asked him for his recommendation on the best pasta and he advised him to get the truffle pasta which he ordered. I got the halibut which was just ok, no complaints but not amazing. The bill came for the 2 of us and it was $ 329! Turns out the truffle pasta was $ 120!!! it was was a cream sauce and truffle shavings! When we mentioned that we should have been given the heads up that the special was 4 X’s the price of the other pastas he said said other guests had been insulted by that information insinuating that they couldn’t afford it! Unless you are on a business expense account I would never recommend it.

We held our rehearsal dinner on Friday 5÷30÷14 for around 30 people. They surpassed all of our expectations. They let us choose the room. We picked the one at the front because of lighting It was gorgeous. Food, drinks and service were impeccable! I can’t complain about anything! We held the bridal shower at «the school house» in wilton and our wedding at blue hill in tarrytown and I have to say all 3 were amazing. This however made you feel so welcome, like family, like they were celebrating with you. We loved every minute!

I don’t really give five stars to restaurants that often, but Valbella clearly deserves it. Service, ambiance, wine list, and food were AMAZING! I can’t wait to come back next time I am in the area. The stuffed fillet wrapped in puff pastry was a brilliant take on a beef Wellington. We had dinner in the cellar. It was very unique and intimate. Beware, it is chilly down there since the wines have to be kept at a certain temperature, but it is worth the experience. So when making the reservation, request the cellar and don’t forget to wear a sweater!
