Hands down the BEST cupcakes and mini pies in Roanoke. my sister got a smores cupcake & red velvet cupcake while I got a Key Lime mini pie. I’m not sure why it’s had negative reviews because my service and food was 100% amazing. I don’t live in this area but my family does & I will DEFINITELY be back. The girl at the counter was extremely friendly & polite. the restaurant was clean and tidy with cute decorations. Will be recommending to everyone in the area.

I have been here a few times with kids and the shop is so adorable! It smells amazing when you walk in the door. Cupcakes have tons of icing but really aren’t too sweet. The cupcakes are moist and there are plenty of options. Tried the birthday cake, black & white, strawberry, lemonberry, red velvet and a few more. All were delicious! The mini cupcakes are too small and the regular cupcakes are too big. Wish there was an in between size!

This is the most adorable cupcake/candy shop I’ve ever seen. It’s very quaint and has a story to it if you ask the staff there. The staff is very helpful and extremely friendly. They’ll chat with you if there arent many customers and tell you about the story behind the shop and their favorite flavors, etc. — very charming. The cupcakes are GIGANTIC. If you buy 10 cupcakes, then you get 2 free however, it comes out to almost 45 dollars. Which seemed okay until we started eating them. Unfortunately a lot of the cupcakes we got were dry and tasted vaguely similar to sheet cake and frosting you can buy from grocery stores. The only good ones we had were fallen soufflé and the carrot cake. Everything else was dry as sand. And the frosting is sickly sweet — still eerily similar to things you can buy in a grocery bakery. Overall, maybe I’ll come back for one or two cupcakes but never getting the dozen again. Not worth the price.

I adore Bubblecake! It’s my go-to for birthday sweets, pick-me-up gifts & the gift cards are great teacher gifts, birthday gifts, etc. These are my favorite cupcakes of ANY I have ever eaten! The Tiffany is awesome! I prefer the Baby Cakes because the icing to cake ratio is more even and they are easier to eat. Both Roanoke stores are adorably decorated.

This place was super cute! I loved that it was in a house. The girl that worked there was pretty nice and helpful. The cupcakes are to die for. And they have cute little candy jars all around the room. Outdoor seating is available when it’s not 20 degree out. Indoor seating as well definitely will be back if I’m ever this way!

Whenever we get together with family out of town they request cupcakes from bubblecake. They have good flavor without being overly sweet. The gluten free options are perfect since we have two relatives on a gluten free diet. We love getting a variety then let everyone chose their favorite.

Stopped in today for some mini cupcakes for my son’s 11th birthday! We were not disappointed as they were delicious as always. Have ordered to go large orders before as well and had a great experience.

Today I checked out this cute cupcake shop and got myself a drunk & pumpkin! It is so good and tasty! I had half so far — saving the other half for tomorrow. Also bought a bunch of minis for my friends!

Beautiful little cupcake shop. Cupcakes were a little pricey if you plan on getting more than 1. My husband tried the black & white cupcake(chocolate cake with white icing) and I decided on the snickers. I wouldn’t say they were bad, but the icing seemed like it should have been sweeter. Still, I would say to go check it out, maybe our taste buds aren’t on point today.

I am a cupcake snob and have been to many, many(probably too many!) cupcake shops and this, by far, is one of the best. Three different sizes of cupcakes. Many flavor options. And boy, were they tasty! Moist cake, flavorful icing, and everything that a cupcake should be. I appreciated the great service and the patience the person had when explaining all of my options. If you are in the area and looking for a treat, be sure to stop by. It’s worth every calorie!

The cupcakes are huge and the flavor combos are interesting enough to keep me returning. They even have smaller versions, albeit not with as much variety. I’m giving this 4 stars because the store is really cute and the flavor combos are fun; otherwise there’s too much icing and the icing is too sweet so it drowns out the fun flavors.

We wandered in when the delicious bakery smell wafted our way… We were not disappointed! I had the fallen soufflé and my friend had the special of the day which was a strawberry cake with raspberry filling and fresh berries on top. They were to die for!

Best cookie dough cupcake I’ve had yet! Great job not being too heavy but still keeping the cookie dough flavor. Split a blueberry lemon cupcake which was absolutely Devine! Moist cake, again not too heavy with icing, and amazing lemon curd(?) inside! Definitely will return next time I’m visiting Roanoke!

Amazing. Three words: cookie dough cupcake. Also, you get 5 cupcakes and the 6th is free. Nice employees, too.

Some of the flavors at Bubblecake change throughout the year but a couple of my regular favorites are the Red Velvet Cake and the HoHo. Actually, the HoHo is far and away my absolute favorite and a lot of people must agree with me because it’s so popular that Bubblecake has a hard time keeping them in stock. It’s their version of the classic Hostess Ho Ho’s and it’s fantastic. The HoHo is a moist chocolate cake filled with vanilla cream and topped with vanilla icing and a chocolate drizzle. The cake is light and not too rich and the vanilla cream is sweet but doesn’t have the gel texture you get in the processed cakes. I would describe it as a gourmet version of the hostess cake. I could talk about the other cupcakes at Bubblecake but it doesn’t matter because the HoHo is the one that has a special place in my heart. Cupcakes at Bubblecake are $ 3.50 and they also offer certain flavors of smaller cupcakes for $ 2.25, which are known as Babycakes. I agree with Kevin Malone from The Office in thinking that mini cupcakes sound like the worst idea ever. A visit to Bubblecake is a great way to spend a summer afternoon in Roanoke. Enjoy the charming Crystal Spring neighborhood, order a Hoho cupcake, find a table outside and don’t forget to save me a seat!

Fun in bubble… of frosting! If you look at the pictures of the frosting, you’ll know what I’m talking about! Just looking at them may give you diabetes. BUT… I was pleased with Bubblecake’s presentation of their sweet confections. All looked so gloriously glamorous on their respective pedestals and I knew that I had quite the challenge in front of me… which ones would end up in my tummy that day? One sign immediately caught my eye, «Special of the day.» When I asked what it was, the helpful lady behind the counter said, «Drunk ‘n Pumpkin, pumpkin cake with Jack Daniels whiskey filling.» Ok, so that was an easy choice. But there were so many others to try that I couldn’t just leave with one! I knew that it wouldn’t look weird for me to choose two of these gigantic cupcakes since my husband was with me, but little did they know both of them were really just for me(I did end up sharing a FEW bites). I decided on their classic«Tiffany» cupcake, vanilla cake with almond frosting that was the obligatory«tiffany blue,» topped with sugar pearls. We sat to eat the Tiffany in their seating area which was dainty and cute. I liked this cupcake… straightforwardly sweet, but a nice depth of almond flavor… and boy do I love me some almond! We took the Drunk ‘n’ Pumpkin home to savor for a late night snack. Once we got home(an hour away from Roanoke), I couldn’t help but open the small Chinese takeout box that promised warmth and satifisfaction. Man, that sh! t was good. I really liked the texture of the cake, which was soft, but really a truer pumpkin bread in cupcake form. And that filling… I only wished they had put more in there… it was gooey, sweet and still booze-y tasting! With all that being said, I have truly set myself up for a challenge to try every single one of the cupcakes(with obvious help from the hubs). I wholeheartedly accept this challenge… for Unilocal’s sake!

I love bubblecakes! These cupcakes are always fresh and they have tons of yummy flavors and icing. You can’t please everyone and I saw that another reviewer was unhappy with how much icing is on these cupcakes, I for one LOVE the icing so I think all that icing is fantastic. These are pretty large cupcakes so I want to make sure there is enough icing to go around to the whole thing while I’m eating it. The mini bubblecakes are cute too if you don’t want all the calories or just don’t want a big cupcakes you can get a few of the mini ones and try different flavors. The inside of the shop is small and quaint but decorated in a bubbly girly pink cupcake kind’a way. They also offer to host girls parties or tea parties or birthday parties in a room they have upstairs which I think is a cute touch. They feature different flavors for different seasons and holidays and offer coupons if you sign up on Facebook or through their website which is a nice way to reward loyal customers. My only con about this particular downtown location near fork in the alley is that there is almost no parking… the last time I visited I had to park wayyyy down two streets and walk. It was summer and sunny so no big deal but if it were a special occasion and I had to park and walk with cupcakes in the rain or something I would not be happy about that.
