Came with the family for dinner. Mediocre overall, both food and service. Food ok, bit cold and small portions. Overall, not great quality for the price. I will not return.

I really enjoy the authentic Mexican restaurants and Don Patron’s doesn’t disappoint. The food is delicious and the service has always been great. The chips and salsa they bring out are the Best in the area. Fresh tasting and great flavor in the salsa. I can’t comment on the margaritas but all of the dishes I’ve had were good. Get the grande special if you are super hungry! Haven’t had anything that was bad yet!

Do not come here if you want a «good margarita», because you wont find it. Sad to say, but what they served us does not even come close to a margarita. Our«pitcher of margarita» was reminiscent of watered down lime gatorade. There was no flavor of liquor, or sour mix for that matter… what a disappointment. I wish I could get my $ 20 back for that pitcher. So much for celebrating«National Margarita Day!» The salsa was actually good. A friend ordered a tamale that looked soooo dry from across the table. I was not interested in consuming it and could not wait to leave this place. I give them 2 stars since I did not try the food other than the salsa and chips.

I can’t comment on the food, because I didn’t have any. I went there for drinks with my girlfriends and we ordered margaritas. They do give you complimentary chips and salsa, by the way which was really good. The margaritas on the other hand, were awful. They tasted like Kool Aid /Gatorade with absolutely no alcohol in it. We were one of two tables in the restaurant and normally I would send something like that back, but I just felt so bad for the waiter and the other gentleman that was working there. I guess in hindsight we should have sent them back. It didn’t taste like sour mix or lime was in it, I ordered mine with salt and it came without, and when I sent that back he seemed really confused and upset. One of my girlfriends got the tamales and she said they were really dry. We will not be coming back here again, ever. I hope for their sake this was a one time mishap, because if its not I don’t know how they’re still open.

Came here for drinks with the girls, margaritas in particular because it was margarita day! We ordered a pitcher of lime on the rocks margaritas… we could not taste any alcohol what so ever in it. It tasted like Gatorade… I really thought they completely forgot to add any tequila. Very disappointing. The complementary chips and salsa were good(but not good enough to make up for the drinks) One of my friends ordered two tamales, she said they were dry and not a lot of flavor. At least the food was inexpensive. Trying to find something positive.

Amazing food ! Better than other ‘local’ taco drive-by(s) here. The ‘Pollo Adobe’ /‘Fish Tacos’ are amazing !!

Wow. The reviews are all over on this place. The chile relleno was so greasy. I knew even if it did taste good, it would have made me sick to eat the whole thing. Those of you who know me know I am not adverse to grease, but this was too much. The batter on the relleno was smooshy(yep, that is the best word I can find) and when I cut into the relleno a pool of grease ran out. It was clearly fried at the wrong temperature. The enchilada also had a grease slick on it. I think someone pan fried the tortilla and then just threw in some meat and topped it off with some sauce. Ugh! That needs to be heated. The guacamole on my toastada? Why is it sea foam green? I can only think they added sour cream(or should I say I HOPE it was sour cream). The service was ok, but the waitress was touching the eating surface of our appetizer plates with her fingers. I know that probably happens all the time in the kitchen, but I don’t want to see it as my food is getting dropped off. Never again.

Love this place! Service is incredibly snappy, and their meat is faaaantastic. Pork, beef, chicken, all good. I’m pretty fond of the enchiladas rancheros, I might call that my favorite. Also have to mention that their free salsa is possibly my favorite salsa ever. It’s got the perfect consistency, and is only very lightly spicy.

I was a fan of Mariachi and eagerly awaited the opening of Don Patron! I visited about 4 times since it opened and I can’t put my finger on it but the food isn’t as fresh or tasty as it was in the former place. I’m an admitted Mexican food snob so maybe I’m being a bit harsh but while it has good flavor everything tastes rewarmed to me. For starters/apps I’ve tried the queso which is good, the guacamole which was not good-very watery? Entrees the enchiladas are good as are the tacos. Overall a fine place to satisfy a Mexican craving if you’re in the area.

This place is hands down the BEST Mexican restaurant in Rochester! The menu is great with so many options for meat eaters as well as vegetarians… The food is amazing and the people working here are sooo lovely! I highly recommend this spot to everyone in search of a great meal… Oh yeah and the jumbo margaritas are gigantic! Almost the size of a scorpion bowl… Eat here and you’ll be hooked!

If you get lucky enough to stop in when they have«mariachi dip» on the specials board you can’t find a better appetizer.

First time I went I was very impressed. Got a combo meal beef empanada, burrito and rice and beans. I loved the beef empanada so when I went again I ordered the empanada supreme. Supposed to be a cheese, beef, bean, and chicken empanadas. Instead I got 2 cheese(which the cheese wasn’t even melted), 1 chicken and a bean empanada. I was very disappointed plus the quality wasn’t as good as the first time. I am not sure if it was just a difference of chefs or what the reason was. I plan to give it one more tie breaking time.

1. Chips were broken into crumbs. 2. Food was microwaved. 3. The server, a big tall guy slammed food and drinks down on the table. 4. Saw many people waiting for a table only to ignored by servers walking by them. 5. Interior is dirty and gross. our server wiped a table with his hand then sat people at the table. No soapy cloth was used. Walls aren’t finished and the seats are dirty. Some have tears in them. Just another lame Mexican joint that doesn’t try. I would avoid the place on the cleanliness alone.

Not a fair review since it seemed like the staff was overwhelmed. There were only three people working. The waiters looked like they were about to pass out. But when they say us, you could tell they were really pushing to make it a good experience for us. Food was good and plentiful. The staff was friendly and they made sure they said hello to everyone and made sure everyone was happy. I will return

We waited to come so they could work out some expected growing pains. All in all tasty dinner– but some costly«extras.» Nice décor with comfy booths, appears clean. I will say that we found it odd that staff was working in kitchen completely dark — but didn’t appear to affect anything. We were quickly sat down, given menus and drink order. We just had soda so can’t speak to the margaritas/other drinks. We were brought out fresh salsa and warm fresh chips — decent amount for the 2 of us. The salsa was very mild — if you like medium or hot you will definitely need to add some hot sauce. We got a side of queso — which was good, also very mild, a little thick though — I would say slightly above average(We still like Moe’s much better). I was tempted by the fish taco special they had for $ 8 on the board as we walked in — but ended up getting the Santa Fe burrito — Chipotle chicken burrito covered in queso with approx. a tablespoon each of fresh Pico, Sour Cream and Guac on the side — I believe this was approx. $ 9.50 — good deal. The Chipotle chicken had such wonderful flavor, piping hot and a little spice. I would highly recommend it. I asked for some shredded lettuce on the top or side and they brought me a plate with some shredded iceberg found out later that was $ 2 — I could’ve done without that. My husband got the chicken burrito/enchilada combo smothered in enchilada sauce — very flavorful and tasty and I believe only $ 8. He got a single chicken quesadilla on the side which was super flavorful and tasty — grilled chicken, cheese, onions and peppers — stuffed full — You gotta try them. I want to try the shrimp Quesadillas. None of the meals we had came with rice and beans so we decided to get a side of each to try. Decent portion of each for approx. $ 5 total — which would’ve been fine if they were super good but they weren’t. The rice was lacking in flavor, sticky/overcooked. The refried beans were a little better but still nothing special at all. Service was average. Meals, Quesadillas, chips, salsa and queso were super tasty and would consider coming back but holding the rice, beans and extra toppings next time. FYI — If you shop at Pricerite around the corner at Southtown plaza the back of the receipt has a coupon for Buy 1 Combo meal #1−23 get 1 half off when you buy 2 drinks. We didn’t get the combos so didn’t use this — but sounds like nice deal.

As a long-time fan of Los Gallos on West Ridge Rd., imagine my surprise when I opened the menu at Don Patron and discovered it’s identical to Los Gallos! Our waitress informed us that both places are owned by the same gentleman, who also operates one in Buffalo. After reading a few of the negative reviews, I can only surmise that those individuals are not familiar with authentic Mexican cuisine. I have never had a bad meal at Los Gallos and am certain Don Patron will offer the same quality.

Great Margaritas and Delicious food. I was here on business craving some mexican and this did not disappoint in flavor or price. My only suggestion is some fun mexican music would have completed my experience a preference to no music.

Don Patron is the spiritual successor to Mariachi Mexican Grill, sharing an innumerable amount of the same dishes on their large menu as they did in their previous location. When Mariachi closed in Henrietta a little bit before Thanksgiving 2014, my world was showered in an intense rain of disappointment and chagrin knowing that the one place that had halfway decent Mexican food in Rochester had disappeared off the map. Thankfully, they’ve come back better than ever! Right now they exist in the old new-Nick Tahou’s location outside Kohl’s and have extremely friendly service, ample portions, and delicious food to go around for a table of any number of people! Fresh chips and homemade salsa are constantly brought to the table over the course of the meal if you run out and there’s always a waiter or waitress available to fill your cups. It doesn’t take an extraordinary amount of time to get your food ready, and when it does come out it’s bountiful and delicious! The first time I went I tried the chile rellenos with chicken and it was awesome. It came with your classic pairings of Mexican rice, refried beans, sour cream and such that was all plenty fine, but the star of the dish was the pungent poblano chile that was packed with flavor coupled with an amassing of melted cotija cheese(or some other Mexican white cheese?) and well-cooked chicken meat. If I had to knock it for anything, an exorbitant number of chile seeds were left inside(which added to the heat I guess — not totally a bad thing!) and it was just a touch oily. That all said though, the flavor was worth it. I will happily go again for sure. It’s still not quite the best of the best by any means, but when it comes to Mexican food in upstate NY, it’s probably better than anything within a 15 mile radius.

I anxiously awaited the opening of the new Don Patron. It was NOT worth the wait. When I first arrived, I was enchanted by the photos of desserts on the front of the menu. I couldn’t wait to try the food. My lunch started with the worst chips I have ever tasted. It was as if the oil that was in the chips had turned rancid. I mentioned this to my waitress. She promptly removed them but did not replace them with fresh chips. What is a Mexican meal without chips and salsa? The salsa was fair as was the meal I had — chicken enchilada, cheese enchilada and beans. It was not a good value for the price. The next time I want Mexican food near my office, Taco Bell, here I come.

Take a look at my profile picture. Do I look like one of those graceful deer that you view from afar? Or how bout one of those pesky buggers that I slam my car into every fall? No? I didn’t think so. I’m not sure why they served me a salt lick on a plate. It was so bad that an hour after I’m still craving fluids. Oh, and the big tall guy others commented about was also there. He couldn’t take the time to even cash us out cuz he was cozied up to one of the patrons. Just down the street is the more palatable Mighty Taco. I’d use the extra gas and go there if I were you.
