Really good experience with Lin’s Garden. I ordered takeout, and it was ready within 15 minutes. The service was excellent in my opinion — the man at the counter was super friendly, and he even gave me some free cookies. I ordered an egg roll, the crab cheese wontons, and mu shu pork. The egg roll was good and the mu shu pork was delicious(and a huge portion). The wontons weren’t my favorite, but they were definite better than some I’ve had in Rochester. All in all, I’m definitely going to go back for more.

I wish I could give them a negative star but one was my only option. We buy from these assholes 3 times a week average. That’s a lot of business… I have my recipe from my online order, which clearly states 2 orders with no white rice only brown, and they gave us one of each. This was ridiculous when we called them and they denied that we asked for two brown rices. Finally they accepted to have us pickup the brown rice with no charge, we asked if they would send a driver out to deliver it and we would tip them and they denied that. These stubborn greedy people have done this before in different circumstances as well. We will now be buying from a different place. Bye.

Good Chinese takeout. Ordered on grub hub and they were super quick. Overall enjoyed my food. Thought the coconut soup was too sweet– I prefer it more savory. Still tasty though. Didn’t care too much for the lobster in the Lo mein but I typically don’t eat much seafood so it might just be me. They have a huge menu with different Asian dishes so we were happy to get a sushi roll along with our meal. I’m picky about sushi and I was really happy with it– the rice was soft and not hard/chewy like many take out sushi tends to be. Great price too for the amount of food! My brother in law is from Cambodia and he only likes take out from here– so that’s saying something!

There was a post about a month ago regarding a fryer being seen outside the business and the poster stating that they lost their appetite from the site and assuming that just because of the site of an old fryer he assumed that the rest of the restaurant was dirty. The poster may or may not be aware that most of the old KFC that were closed down to move to a new location left all of the equipment that they had behind and all they did was to make sure that they cleaned the visible areas to health inspectors approval. In my eyes seeing an old fryer outside would give me the first clue that they replaced it with a newer one and I am sure that once they seen the outside condition of the equipment that they proceeded to clean the rest. I eat here all the time and I can see the prep station clearly from the counter and I also can see them cooking my food as well, the dining area is kept cleaned and so is the restroom. As for the parking they do try to pick up the trash that other patrons seems to want to throw on the ground they may not be right on top of it with the high volume of traffic that rolls through there on a daily basis but they try, and to add to this you can not hold the owners of this business responsible for the utter disrespect that people have for littering anywhere there is a place to throw your trash and it should be on the conscious of the person throwing things away.

I’ve eaten here a few times before. Lunch combos were a good deal until last time I stopped in. See the photo I posted for visual but The fryer was outside near the main entrance door and it was utterly gross. Now maybe they just replaced it with a Shiney new one but it still had years of neglect and lack of cleaning on it. I’m a firm believer of If the spaces you can see(bathroom, dining area, parking lot) are dirty the spaces you can’t see(kitchen, cooler, prep areas) are even worse. For them to put this on display made me lose my appetite and find somewhere else for lunch.

I love this place — why? Because EVERYTHING is «10 minutes!» I could be ordering for one or a group; it’s the only unit of time they ever use. That out of the way, a little background: I have been going to Lin’s Garden for over 10 years. I started back when they were located on Richmond Street, before they bought the old KFC they are located in now. My food has always been consistently excellent, hot and fresh. They are just a click over the river from Corn Hill, so it’s super convenient. Their best dish, hands down(and I think I’ve eaten 80% of the menu, which is a feat in and of itself), is the Thai Spicy Basil Fried Rice with Chicken. Simply addictively awesome and there’s plenty for two or a second meal. Another thing I love is their hotness scale. Like things spicy? They have a scale from 1 – 5 you can pick from when you order, simply tell the person when you call in! I find a 3 is usually good for a decent amount of bite. ****** Okay, now for the ‘oh by the way’: — DONOT get delivery. I’ve tried 3 times in the 10+ years and it is always a disappointment and very time consuming. The food isn’t hot and usually something is missing or the utensils and napkins are MIA. In general though, unless your drunk, they’re 5 minutes or less from most places in the city. Even in Corn Hill, I call when I’m heading out to my car and it’s almost always ready when I get there, certainly within 5 minutes. ****** So my 5 stars are based on pickup, but I love the people who work there. One or both of the owners are usually onsite and they are super friendly. Great quality for a reasonable price.

Worst delivery driver ever. After waiting over an hour for our food, my friend and I step outside for a moment, see a woman pull into my parking lot and then leave within 30 seconds. We come back inside to five missed phone calls, and a message from the driver saying she«came by and we didn’t answer.» She didn’t even get out of the car. She returns 15 minutes later, after calling twice more to make sure we are waiting outside for her. I bring up the fact that we had been here the whole time and she said she couldn’t find the apartment. I explain to her that had she gotten out of her car and walked to the front of the building, it would have been very clear which apartment was mine. She looks at me like I’m speaking another language and proceeds to argue with me about why she couldn’t walk to the door. Wait, what? That’s your job. If I wanted to leave my apartment I would have just went and picked it up myself. At least then i would have saved on delivery fees and could have avoided the rude attitude of the laziest delivery driver I have ever encountered.

Love this place. I went on a grub hub spree and ordered from a bunch of different Chinese take out places. This one is my favorite for General Tso’s Chicken and hot and sour soup. General Tso’s was really crispy, and the hot and sour soup was just perfect! $ 10 credit card minimum so don’t forget to bring cash!

This place has some of the best Chinese in Rochester… Affordable and delicious… Great hours and service, and Great prices for a lot of quantity… Lo mien is delicious and so is the sweet and sour chicken, everything else looks great. 5 stars… Might not look like the best place but don’t judge a book by the cover. As well all know some of the best places may not look the most appealing. If your craving some delicious Chinese food give it a try you won’t regret it.

Rochester is full of abandoned KFC’s that are now Chinese Takeouts. This is my favorite. Lin’s Garden is probably my favorite overall Chinese food in Rochester. Here are some great things about Lin’s Garden: they deliver till pretty late. Like late for a Rochester takeout, not 2am late. You get a lot of food. Like it’s probably 3lbs of delicious lo mein in an order. It is the most perfect chicken lo mein currently available in the United States. Once, my boyfriend got some other sort of noodle dish. It was a lo main type noodle and it had beef in it and it was super good. I will order it next time I am in Rochester. I will probably ask my mom to mail me some Chinese food because Denver has the god awful worst Chinese food I have ever suffered through eating. Their fried rice and general tso’s chicken and other dishes are also solid but I usually go here when I am craving the most perfect lo mein in the universe.

Quite an okay-ish place to get Chinese food. Its mostly a carryout place rather than a dine-in restaurant. They have their own small parking lot, which is cool. So you don’t have to search for street parking. I usually get the Spicy Basil Fried Rice. It tastes good and comes in a decent quantity. Since this is mostly a carry-out place(even though they have tables and chairs, I’ve rarely seen people dine-in), the owners get a bit grumpy if you’re dining in if the restaurant is closing soon. A lot of restaurants inform the customers that the kitchen will be closing soon, but the way they inform here sounds a bit rude sometimes. Also, they clean the floors with bleach during closing, which is certainly not a happy experience while eating. The odor is so strong that you almost feel like you’re eating bleach. But the quality of food is quite good. They won’t not disappoint you if you are carrying out.

I have been going to many Asian food restaurants around the city for some time now… Nothing compares to the freshness and taste of this restaurant! I wish I had known about this one sooner! It’s also 100% cleaner than the other restaurants around!

Tons of mediocre food for cheap enough. And in an old KFC, trippy. You can order through Grubhub and picking up the food is quick and painless for when youre craving dumplings but not up for communication difficulties

we ordered through grubhub last night, and were so terribly disappointed. not only was our order wrong in many ways, the food was bland, tasteless, and gloopy(the string beans were crunchy, which we like, but the sauce…*grody*). we ended up throwing the food away– $ 50 down the drain. who has $ 50 to throw away? well, we don’t, but ended up having to. grubhub was cool about it and tried to mitigate the situation, but to no avail.

I can see their building from my desk! Hi guys!(waves) I’ve actually never been in the place, actually so I can’t speak on that. They do have great lunch specials for when that bologna sandwich you packed doesn’t sound so hot. It’s usually 5.95 or so, and their chicken lo mein is very good. I take off one star because they have gotten our orders wrong before when it has been delivered.

**This restaurant charged me full price for their lunch special. I both ordered and arrived before 3 .pm(which is there declared lunch hours).** ***Next the general Tso’s Chicken tasted and looked as thought it was microwaved from a bag. I would know I have had it. So I called them and politely disclosed my complaints, and they did not apologize said OK and hung up. *** For this I give them less than 1 star. Extremely disappointed with the service and food.

I discovered Lin’s through GrubHub and it has been my go to ever since. Everything is excellent, the pad thai is as good as any sit down place. I usually get delivery and it is always prompt. I’m especially a fan of the thai food, love the coconut soup!

Lin’s Garden was my go to take out Chinese spot for a good long time due to it’s close proximity to my apartment, their dirt cheap prices and their food which was perfectly Americanized Chinese food which is exactly what I wanted. They make a decent version of all the American classics and the portions are generous to the point that one person shouldn’t be eating a combo meal, although of course I did so multiple times and had a decent amount of self loathing afterward. I suppose that for many people that tends to be the case and the point of going to a place like this. Definitely take out only as far as I’m concerned and a bit on the shady side but if you are in the mood for Americanized Chinese(and a bit of self loathing) you could do much worse than Lin’s.

I’m surprised no one has reviewed this place yet. Coming here is kind of like being in the twilight zone: is it your typical shady Chinese take out or is it actually good? First of all, the location is in a converted KFC so it looks trashy as hell from the outside in. However, their website is amazing am probably had to cost hundreds. Second, the food is ridiculously cheap, and yet quite tasty. The portions are huge, and yet it’s hard to believe they do use good stuff since it’s so inexpensive. But if it tastes fresh, they how could this really be crap? See my problem? Fun fact: they advertise next to the menu(written on a styrofoam plate) chicken gizzards: 4.35… Okkkk It’s a quirky place, but good, friendly, and don’t seem to mind drunk hungry people.
