I used to hang out in this place many moons ago, when it was Jox. It looks the same, but updated. Clean interior, with plenty of TV’s and some couches scattered about. I thought it was pretty chilly inside, but that probably had something to do with it being –4 degrees outside. They had a decent beer selection. I had their version of a reuben which, for some reason, wasn’t called a reuben. It was excellent! It definitely wasn’t made with deli meat, this was the real deal! My wife got a turkey club wrap and loved it. One of our group got some monstrosity of a pile of tots, cheese, peppers… heart attack on a plate, and not one shred of regret have I for diving in!!! Check out their daily specials, like $ 3 Southern Tier IPA on Fridays. Oh, if only they weren’t a Steelers bar… boooooooo

MicGinny’s is great! My husband and I go in occasionally for wings and beers and always sit at the bar. The staff is fun and friendly. The atmosphere is fun and is somewhat of a neighborhood bar. The wings are excellent and the beer selection is large and always cold. Love this place!

Went here after work on a Wednesday with a coworker. Female bartender acted like it was a favor to us to get us beers. Place was empty. Very likely because of the staff. They are nasty and rude.

I booked this place for my best friend’s bachelor party. I was very clear that it was a small group but we were still paying for 2 kegs and food and the room. I even said if we didn’t finish the second keg they could obviously just keep it and I’d pay for it anyways. I was clear on what we wanted to do because obviously if it wasn’t worth their while, then I would just find another place. I gave the guy the out when I first talked to him, knowing that it was wedding season and maybe they’d be losing money, and they booked me. I agreed to pay X amount for X people and X stuff etc etc. When the day came they treated us like such crap, probably because we didn’t have a huge group flocking the bar. Nevermind the fact that they had like no bar business this time of year(late summer) and it was just us and another, much larger party. There were like 5 people there the whole day and night that were not there for a bachelor party. First they told me we would get a certain room/area. When we got there they put us somewhere else, and then 2 hours later had us move back to the original space. Whatever, maybe they got confused, not a big deal, we’re easy going people and didn’t care, and even moved most of the stuff they set up ourselves. Their POS dishwasher was openly insulting us because we didn’t have a rager like the other group, and the server tried taking the food away after an hour of it being out and just giving us a bill(for much less than was quoted?), after like 4 hours and without even getting to the second keg. I told her what I agreed to and that I wanted that to be honored, and that I’m paying for the food, and not everyone had arrived yet, so it should be left out until we were done, and that we wanted to-go containers if anyone wanted to bring some home. She gave me attitude about it, even though I was paying for that slop. It was like we weren’t cool enough for that crap towny bar, and they just wanted us gone for some stupid reason. To be honest, we aren’t bar or party people, and didn’t buy much booze from the bar, but we paid for 2 kegs, and they didn’t hook us up on that. I didn’t even care what they charged me for the kegs because they obviously need to make money. I even told them that and thought it was good deal for both of us. They got quite a good amount of easy money. They agreed to the arrangement in the first place. Honestly the food was overpriced because it sucked, and wasn’t ever even hot. To this day I wonder if it was left over, because it did not seem unfresh just from being held. Or they made it the day before lol. I’m a cook and know my food costs, it was nothing special and they made good money off that. It would not have been hard to put that together on the fly considering their dearth of food volume at the time. I could have had all of that done from scratch in less than two hours with 2 other people, very easily. A couple people thought it may have made them sick, and no they did not drink too much. The atmosphere and vibe sucked. The server was rude and acted like we were jerks for some reason. I got sick of it and even told her that we really didn’t need her to pour beer for us(stand there and be a pain lol) and that she could go do whatever else and that we’re obviously still tipping her. To put this in perspective, we are all total nerds, we mostly played cards and just sat around a table talking and drinking beer most of the night. Nothing crazy, no one was rude, we barely made noise. Looking back on it we could have just rented a lodge from a county park and spent half as much and had a better time. I saw part of their kitchen and it was a complete hole. I am a cook and I would would be ashamed to work there. The bathroom is what they let you see, and if that is gross, well… I have specifically told people NOT to book this place. All in all it wasn’t a bad price, and not a horrible time, but you don’t treat people like crap because you’re pretentious jerks, and let some scumbag dishwasher bother you, or ask you for cigarettes lol. More than half the people felt the vibe and some even suggested NOT tipping. I still tipped 20% but I will never ever give them any business ever again, and tell everyone what a joke that experience was.

I have gotten severe food poisoning 3 times from this place. The only reason I kept going back was that my kickball team is sponsored by this bar. At first I tried to reason it was not MicGinny’s but after the 3rd time of vomiting and explosive diarrhea 3 Fridays in a row, I had to leave a review.

Okay, I am just going to copy part of Peter D.‘s review because he is spot on: «Pool. Darts. Cheap drinks. Good food. Tons of flatscreens. Tons of room. A nice back patio. Legit leather couches that I would gladly sleep(read: pass out) on.» You can get 24oz punders for $ 2 or less(Busch, PBR, Labatts). Hell yea, I’ll have 12. The wings are delicious and were $ 0.50 last time I was there. It is seems to be a town favorite and there were clearly a lot of regulars. However, we were attended quickly and had an awesome time. Peter d., great review, compliment on the way.

They have really fixed this place up well. If you were a fan of Calabria’s, you can still have the delectable food. Seriously, this is amazing food. You definitely don’t feel like you’re eating in a bar. There’s plenty of tables and a friendly wait staff. I’ve never had to wait long to eat, although Friday and Saturday nights do get really busy. TV’s all around, the staff is really friendly, the owners are very cool, lots of room, plenty of bar games and if you’re lucky, you’ll see Bill. Bill is a local who sings, dances and air-guitars his face off. If you like posting viral videos, get some footage of this dude.

I don’t understand why this place isn’t more crowded. This bar has everything. Pool. Darts. Cheap drinks.* [What I hear is] Good food. Tons of flatscreens. Tons of room. A nice back patio. Legit leather couches that I would gladly sleep(read: pass out) on. A staff that rocks: the bartenders are sweethearts, and the bouncer is one of the nicest guys around. I know this not only because he kept wanting to talk about sports with us, but also because of how nice he was to some dude who clearly gets plastered there on the regular. When we walked in, I witnessed the following exchange. Lady Bartender: What can I get you? Dude: Baby, you know what I need… *tries to climb over bar* The bouncer came over, pulled him off the bar and assured us Dude was harmless.(We were not concerned.) About an hour later, the bouncer half-heartedly kicked Dude out of the bar. He came back in about 10 minutes afterward, and rocked out to Avril Lavigne(being played entirely too loudly for the number of patrons), Elaine-style, and fell to the floor in slow motion during one of the kicks. The other seven people in the bar pulled out camera phones. I like this place. _________ *$ 1.50 pounders of Busch and PBR. If you’re a fancy boy who’s too good for those, you can spring for the $ 2 pounders of LaBatt Blue.

I went on a Thursday night. The place was pretty empty. Their was only one bartender and she was pretty slow considering how empty the place was. I also order the garlic parm wings. The wings weren’t too bad, but definitely have had better locally around rochester. The mixed drinks as well were also not very strong and pretty weak.
