Uhm this place rocks. I came for the salad bar but came back 5 times so far, almost every day this week because the specials kept calling my name. The first day was country fried steak with biscuits n gravy mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Day two was chicken parmigiana, very tasty. Day three was a awesome all you can eat taco bar. Day 4 was the French dip, it was OK but not amazing. Day 5 was a burger which was rocking. I got the salad bar every day and love their house made thousand island dressing. Wish the potatoes in the potato salad were a little softer but other than that this is my favorite place in Rochester. Staff is so friendly and the whole place feels like home. I love you pappy!!!

Have been here several times — burgers are excellent, and the fries are super crispy and good. The menu offers enough choices to make everybody happy, and the food has been consistent with good service each time.

Pappy, the purveyor of this«Place» was surely a proponent of pompous proportions. The special Wednesday night, the Walleye, was a great value. One trip through the salad line can equate to a meal in itself, with a plate full of salad, a bowl of soup and a dinner roll. After that a large piece of fish and potatoes for the main dish. Altogether, I left stuffed and satisfied. The drink menu was also expansive, though I didn’t sample on this particular night, with many options and specials. Feeling a bit«divy», the décor could use some work, but for the price I can’t complain. Overall a good place for a weekday dinner with the family.

Pappys burger deluxe and the BBQ burgers were excellent and done to perfection. First time here. Won’t be the last.

Second time here. First time was when they opened and I can’t remember what we thought of it. Giving this place 4 stars because the food was REALLY good. I was very impressed with the food. Having said that, the service was slow, the place was kind of dirty, and I literally have no idea what kind of establishment they are trying to create here. Is it a supper club? A family restaurant? A bar? Neither the decorations, the cleanliness, nor the clientele of the place gives a consistent theme. But again, the food was very good. I almost wanted it to be bad because our experience leading up to the food coming to our table wasn’t great, but our experience was salvaged by the food. We’ll be back, and hopefully we don’t have the inconsistent experience that others have mentioned.

Saw another review that reminded me of my wife’s and my experience. Went on a Friday night. Both of us had the fried cod fish special. The fish was somewhat over cooked, to the point where a couple of the pieces were pretty much rather rock crispy. Not good. The rest of the meal was ok. Given the Pappas family heritage, a bit disappointing.

The Scalloped Benedict was certainly something unique. It was absolutely delicious. I literally wanted to lick the plate clean. The artichoke crab dip was also good, but it obviously did not come with enough bread and the waitress charged us for more bread. If the dip: bread ratio was sufficient, I would definitely give Pappys Place 5 stars. However, due to the ratio issue and sub-par service Pappys will receive 4 stars from me.

This place is just another one going through the motions and counting on the fact that most people around here accept marginal food without complaint. Here with a friend today, it’s clear to me that Pappys is of the«hit or miss» category, big time. I had a beef brisket sandwich which was very good, my friend had the fried cod, a Friday special. The fish looked as though it had been dipped in a tub of Ready-Mix concrete then fried in a pot of bubbling heavy crude from the Canadian tar sands. Its taste was worse than its appearance, if that’s possible. The soup wasn’t bad, but the Saltine crackers that went with it appeared to be from the Precambrian period.(I knew that Geology I and II would pay off some day.) Any civic-minded owner would box them up and send them to the Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian in DC. The pudding in the soup-salad bar had an industrial taste to it, like how I would imagine the grease used for heavy construction equipment would taste. These«hit or miss» places really keep one on his/her toes, and one must be ready for a speedy exit when the misses hit the fan, so to speak.

Great little bar & grill on the NW side of Rochester. Food is good, atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff is very VERY friendly(which is always a huge bonus to me). Definitely worth checking out and visiting often. :)

Went on Thursday had the special(ribs w/tater tots). Also shared boneless wings(very good!). The ribs were fall off the bone and pretty good. Idaho nachos were very good.

I went here for dinner a few weeks ago and was unimpressed. I ordered the special cocktail for that night, and I didn’t enjoy it. The food and service weren’t awful but weren’t anything that would bring me back again. My husband and his friend had eaten there once previously and felt the same way.

Really good food and awesome salad bar. Draft options were pretty standard. I had the pike Reuben, which was walleye, slaw, and Swiss on marble rye bread. I also had the salad bar, which offered great selection and the best chicken wild rice soup I have had. Service was outstanding! Menu prices were a little expensive for lunch, but average for dinner. Grand opening is next week.
