I ordered this food at midnight and it arrived by 1:20am. The fish had dry spots, smelled bad, had a mucus layer and obviously bad. I tried a piece of salmon avocado roll and was immediately disgusted by the flavor and consistency. I stopped after the two pieces of salmon sushi. I feel sick. This restaurant should be ashamed and out of business.

Terrible service. Just money. I ordered spicy mala soup with one Shanghai bok choy and they finally gave me double, even I didn’t realize it. When I say that there should be only one Shanghai, and the waitress said«you just ate them, you need to pay.» In that order, my sliced beef was small, but they tried to write large on my bill, until I found that and they finally changed for me. Tips are already calculated in your bill, and basically it is not negotiable. 黑店,不想看英文的话,就这两个字。

Never go here! Seriously worst service ever and sushi was inedible and sent back! Made no attempt to make the roll correctly. Hot pot food was decent but no sauces were available despite having an actual bar for sauces. Only given one sauce and that too was inedible and sent back multiple times. Charged us for the sushi roll even though it was completely wrong and we couldn’t eat it. To top it off they wouldn’t except my living social coupon because they claim it was for sushi only, even though on the coupon says sushi, Chinese, and more… How is hot pot not included in the and more. When I say okay, well you charged me for sushi despite the fact I couldn’t eat it and sent it back why can’t you use the coupon on that? And they say didn’t order enough sushi. Seriously!!! Fine order me a roll of I don’t care and waste your money and food to take money off like you should have done in the first place! Seriously food is bad, costumer service is even worse!!!

Came across this by accident, but what a great surprise! They have hot pot & sushi. The beef broth is fabulous & the Thai broth is refreshing! The Bubble tea was really good too!

JUSTSAYNO! Where to begin??? Saturday night. 7 p.m. My date and I were greeted at the door by a teenager who invited us to sit anywhere. We choose a table(already considering leaving since it was odd that the place was empty on a Saturday night). As soon as we sit down, a woman who was preparing food at the sushi bar jumps up and tells us NOTTHERE! She directs us to a cramped table right under the sushi bar where she is working. We order one platter of assorted maki to share. Over the sound of Bruce Wayne Batman blasting on the restaurant’s TV, we hear endless chopping and mincing and dicing from the sushi bar. Our order arrives, but it’s not what we ordered and only part of it, because she hasn’t finished with it yet(!!!) Plastic palm trees and various other plastic decorations were glued to our platter with wasabi. One bite of our sushi and we knew something was off. The salad was old and going bad and the dressing was not tasty. The soup was the weirdest«miso» we’d ever had. The fish tasted«off» and there was minced jalepeno in every bite. All of the fish was minced into tiny morsels. We ate only a small amount, deciding we’d prefer not to spend the night in the bathroom. Despite ordering one dish between us, we were inexplicably charged 2 «chef fees» of $ 3 a piece. We stopped by the pharmacy on the way home to stock up on the Kaopectate. I cannot believe this place is still in business! AVOID!

wow, where to start. My friend and I were the only people in the restaurant when we went for dinner. 3 groups of people came in, sat down, and decided to leave BEFORE they even got a menu. They must have had bad vibes because I couldn’t figure out whey they kept leaving. Now I know why they left… Don’t even bother going to this place if you are more than 1 person, they take forever to make rolls. Once you do receive the rolls, they are 90% rice and 10% sushi and vegetables. They use lettuce instead of cucumber slices which I did not enjoy in the least. Also, when you get your bill, there’s a chef charge and service fee and whatnot that brings up your total to like $ 26 from the advertised $ 20. If you want an all you can eat sushi, go to Osaka, you will be infinitely happier.

I decided to get takeout from Sushi Palace even after I read the bad reviews. I regret it. I ordered the vegetable tempura roll hoping for a few different types of veggies in it. It only had sweet potatoes, and they were over cooked. The avocado was brown, and the cucumbers were a few days too old. The rolls were also very small and fell apart as soon as I picked them up. They were not worth the high price that I paid. The delivery fee is $ 3.99. Definitely better quality and cheaper sushi at Wegmans!

If I could give it zero stars I would. I’ve been to every Japanese restaurant in Rochester. Had sushi in the West coast. I love sushi. This was the worst sushi ever. First they don’t use sushi rice, they use Jasmine rice. Second, the fish is warm and stale. Third, you find out at the end of the bill there is a «chef charge». I couldn’t barely eat three rolls with my wife there and we got the all you can eat. Two all you can eat buffets and one soda came out to almost $ 60.00, and I couldn’t eat the rolls they were so bad. Top it off I check my back account the next day, and they charged me even more then the slip I signed for which is illegal. I currently have a case pending with the BBB. oid at any cost. AVOID at any cost. Please go to good sushi places like Plum Garden or Kobe. Stay away.

Terrible service. Ordered all you can eat and received a mediocre salad and a roll over the course of an hour. A shame because I really like a lot of their menu items, but their business model is simply unsustainable. The server’s attention was primarily focused to a larger table(there were 3 other tables besides ours) when he wasn’t wandering about aimlessly. Numerous times he mentioned how busy they were, as if that excused the lack of service, and we reassured him it was cool for the first 5 times. I understand that it’s a busy Saturday night and there are only 2 employees on, but there is a statute of limitations on excuses you can make for bad service. If you cannot deal with present demand, YOURBUSINESSWILLNOTSURVIVE. Icing on the cake: Having waited a half hour for a second roll, we alerted the server that we would pay for what we received and be on our way. The chef cashed us out, which was strange, but our bill seemed way off. She had tacked on an additional $ 8 as «service charge.» We informed her that this was unacceptable, and she insisted that’s how it had to be. The exchange ended briefly thereafter once we agreed on a more fair gratuity charge for our party of 3. I’ve been stuck with bad service enough times that my tolerance for it has diminished to nonexistence. I left a dollar tip, based on the merit of what I felt the service and food was worthy of. The adjacent table(The rowdy one that monopolized the restauant) scoffed at my dollar, as if the staff had done us some grand favor by making us wait so long. If you marginalize your customers, it is completely fair for them to marginalize your business. I really do like some of the rolls they serve here, but Sushi Palace will likely not survive much longer based on their current standards.

Went there two weeks ago. Disgusting. The app says you have to assign at a minimum 1 star. I wouldn’t give it any. Save your money and your digestive track.

I feel robbed. Food took 2 ½ hours, not everything ordered came out, temperature in restaurant was about 60 and we were all freezing, only one worker was in restaurant most of the time, sashimi was horrible and were were charged a service fee for 5 people. We were told we’d be charged extra for not eating all we ordered, even after I complained that we were already there much longer than planned and had to leave. There was only one other couple in the restaurant. I eat out a lot. This is the first time I’ve ever written a review. I have never had a dining experience this bad.

The worst sushi ever. The ginger wasn’t even limp, it was dead. The steak teriyaki was microwaved and tasted rancid. When your plate comes with décor then run. It was awful! Only 1 person was there, the food was gross, I basically left without eating. I’m never going back

It took 30 minutes for the appetizer to be served and another 40 minutes for the main dish. The food was terrible. The fried dumpling and the fried vegetables were over cooked and smelled like old oil. The sushi was warm and had too much rice which wasn’t even seasoned properly. The red snapper and the white tuna were stale and smelled weird. The waitress didn’t speak english, so my complaint was no use. This was my worst restaurant experience, and I strongly recommend to NOTEATHERE!

PLEASEREADTHIS. I ordered two of tiramisu milk tea, shrimp tempura roll and dynamite roll. The only thing i could eat was dynamite roll. other than that, everything else was nasty. Not only their food was bad, but also there were HUGE problems. Problem 1. I was about to drink my tea and realized that they SCRAPED the expiration dates that were on two of the milktea. The milktea was expired almost 3 months ago. I would not care if it was just expired; I would just call them and ask for unexpired ones. However, the fact that they scraped the dates and tried to sell expired drinks made me so upset. That means that they tried to fool their own customers. How can you even trust their food if they tried to sell these expired drinks? Who knows what they put in their food? Problem 2. Even though I called them and asked for the head manager to talk, they just told me that he was not there and said they would call me back after he comes back. GUESSWHAT, the grubhub called me and apologized instead of sushi palace. I appreciated grubhub for calling me, but I told them to give a message to sushi palace that I wanted to hear an apology from them instead. It has been 5 hours and they have not called me back yet. DONOTORDERFROMSUSHIPALACE. bad communication with customers, overpriced, odd temperature food. bad taste. most importantly, untrustworthy business. It does not even deserve one star. Hopefully you do not experience this!

It really upsets me to write this review because a bunch of my friends think of this place fondly, but after going here several times with them, I absolutely know it’s not a place I want to go back to. First and foremost, just about every single one of the appetizers are heated up/steamed/fried frozen items. Just about none of it’s homemade, and is rather items you can find in frozen pouches at an Asian grocery. More seriously, I had sushi here one time and had awful food poisoning the following day. I should’ve known better when some fish was fishier than usual. Perhaps the biggest crime of all(and in my mind, legitimately a crime), is that on at least two separate occasions, my CC statement showed a greater charge for this restaurant than the CC slip I signed off on. In other words, not only did they charge me while I was at the restaurant, but at some point after, they added an extra charge that was unknown to me until after I saw my CC statement several weeks later. This place has completely lost my trust. Between(illegally) charging me extra outside of a signed CC slip, food poisoning, and frozen products, I just cannot ever think of going here again. Even if the deal seems great for all-you-can-eat sushi or the waitresses seem like nice people, mark my words — you will be stabbed in the back in one way or another. By all means if you’re reading this, please stay away from this restaurant!

I’ve been to this place a few times, and it keeps getting worse. This most recent time, I got the all-you-can eat and ordered a few pieces of sushi and sashimi. Half of the sashimi was still partially frozen and each piece of sushi came with an absurd amount of rice. The soy sauce and wasabi were watered down, and to top things off, I was charged a three dollar«chef» fee. I won’t be coming back.

I don’t know why there were some poor reviews. I enjoyed it. Ok, it’s ayce, so the rice is heavy but that didn’t take from the meal. The fish is fresh, the rolls were good. I plan on hitting this place again when I come back to Rochester. For the amount of sushi I ate, I paid $ 25 for ayce, tea, tax, and tip. Other places my bill would have been close to C note for what I ate tonight. Great deal!

this is probably the worst sushi place i have ever had sushi from. I ordered online through grubhub and was greatly disappointed when the order came. the soup was watery and had no flavor. the salad was just pieces of lettuce thrown in with some onions(yes. just lettuce and onion) and the sushi was terrible. I ordered the maki combo C and it was just yuck. the shrimp tempura had no meat but just heavy layer of tempura coating. worst was the red snapper teriyaki. it had one sad piece of fish and the rest was pan fried onions peppers some string beans and broccoli. I couldn’t believe I had to pay 17 dollars for something I wouldn’t even pay 5 dollars for. They also forgot one of our additional roll order and had to come back and give it to us. It was BMW roll and we couldn’t eat more of the crap and just threw it out. Overall it was just the most unpleasant sushi experience I ever had. Don’t deliver from here.

Let it be said that I enjoy Japanese cuisine immensely, and yet I have had to give this restaurants a less than stellar review. It saddens me, people, it really, really does. We visited on a Friday at 12:30 pm, and we were the only customers in the restaurant: not a very good sign. Various Japanese canvas art hang on the dark red painted walls. LED rope lights, in alternating disco colors, frame the entire ceiling, along with the artificial bamboo covering a square pillar in the center of the restaurant. Was the location formerly an Italian restaurant? That may explain the plastic grape vines they decided to keep adorning the black painted ceilings. Good glory! We ordered from their lunch menu: beef terriyaki bento box and sushi and sashimi lunch special. The miso soup was flavored with multitudes of scallions; initially tasty, but soon became tiresome. The broth leaned more towards chicken than fish, which would create a bland base. The salad was a bowl of iceberg lettuce with commercially made ginger dressing. Then we waited for our main entrees. And waited. And waited. The server came out and asked if it would be acceptable to have sushi rice instead of the regular white rice, since the rice was still cooking. Sushi rice is cooked with a sweet rice wine, and has a decidedly different texture(more sticky), and of course, much sweeter. I acquiesced, due to time restraints, and shortly the rest of the food arrived. My husband found his sushi and sashimi pleasant. The fish was fresh, and was placed over an enormous bed of spiraled carrots. My beef, however, was not so pleasant. It consisted of half a dozen dime-thick slices: over cooked, over salted, and over seasoned. This, I thought to myself, is what shoe leather tastes like. It too, was placed over a large bed of spiraled carrots. As luck would have it,(I’m thinking the stringy, pretty carrots are more of a garnish, since they were ubiquitous to both meals) the sauce of my terriyaki worked as a nice marinade, making the carrots one of the more enjoyable elements of the dish! ***Before I continue, Rochester friends, what’s this new thing about charging for tea? Take a trip to Japan. Even the cheapest 日本食レストラン does not charge for tea. Free tea — and copious refills — are part of the Japanese omotenashi — hospitality. Charging for tea, IMHO is insulting. *** The server and another woman, whom I’m assuming is the manager, were extremely pleasant. Friendly, courteous, and attentive. The type of folks you’d like to see if you’re feeling blue and down in the dumps. Too bad I was coming to them for a good meal! They did not provide a credit card receipt for us. Odd. Reading another reviewer, I will have to pay close attention to make sure my credit card was not incorrectly charged. In conclusion, the Sushi Palace was a disappointment. On the bright side: they deliver(within a radius of 10 miles, supposedly)! And THAT is definitely worth a try, because mediocre Japanese food trumps mediocre pizza any day! I hope the operators of Sushi Palace read these reviews and modify appropriately, otherwise, I fear it will go the way of the other Henrietta Japanese restaurant and close.

3.5 Stars. Warning, I am somewhat judgmental, being from NYC. This review is about the AYCE menu, not the à la carte menu. I went with a group of six people for an early dinner on a Sunday. It was a small, cozy restaurant. Décor was basic«Japanese» styled, and there was Cantonese music playing in the background(lol). There were lots of tables, ranging in all sizes. We opted to go for the AYCE route, to see if this new sushi restaurant could live up to any expectations. The price was $ 21.95 per person on weekends, which, after tax and tip, comes out close to $ 30. There was a decent variety of fish available for the sashimi and nigiri sections, and a decent number of rolls offered as well. One thing I didn’t appreciate with almost all the rice-based menu items was the fact that they just gave way too much rice on all of the sushi. I get that it’s AYCE. I get that you want to run a business. But please don’t make it so obvious. Out of all the sashimi that I tasted, only the salmon was good; it seemed fresh enough and the texture was about what I expected. The white tuna, however, tasted as if it was recently frozen and heated up, lightly cooking and starting to break apart on the outsides. The squid was okay, although I could have asked for a thicker cut. The clam also tasted as if it was recently frozen. The mackerel was passable. The rice on most of the sushi was somewhat overcooked and the texture suggested that it was rapidly cooled prior to assembly. All of the specialty rolls that we ordered came out in a similar manner: loaded with rice, with some sort of tempura in or around it, and somewhat saturated a bit too much with some sauce that was either too salty or spicy. Plating could have used a bit of work, in my opinion. Every plate that came out with a variety of stuff seemed to be a literal smörgåsbord of garnish and fish; cleaner plating may be better here, especially for an AYCE menu. There was a very limited selection of cooked food as well; besides the standard microwave dumplings and shumai(which came out cold in the middle) there was not much besides some soup and agedashi tofu. The service was very attentive, however, and they had no problem communicating what food was still to come so we could judge if we’d ordered too much. Overall, it’s definitely better than other AYCE sushi offerings in the area, but don’t go here expecting too much in the way of truly good sushi. –1 star for frozen fish, –½ star for over-ricing the sushi
