Great selection of tap beers. Fun evening location for dinner. Food was tasty. Nice patio seating… not the most amazing views. Good service.

This is going to be a super petty review, so I apologize in advance. We came here for Trivia on Sundays. There was a small group of us and we were super excited that we won. When it came to claiming the gift card the waitress told us to just inform the bartender within the next three weeks that we won and we’d get the $ 50 gift card. All of us were a little baffled that we didn’t get any slip or gift card to show that we had won, so we asked again about not receiving a gift card or anything and she said we were good and just needed to tell the bartender. We came back within two weeks to claim our prize and it turns out we DO need a gift card. There’s nothing they could do and we ended up with bupkis. So much for winning trivia. Fail.

Great place! Always a solid beer list and pleasant atmosphere for hanging out. This review, however, is mainly for the tacos. The Mexican street tacos, both at Thursdays on First, and at the restaurant are legit! Super flavorful, tender meat, just the right about of heat, fresh tangy and smokey salsa, and abundant onions and cilantro. You don’t need anything more to have a perfect taco. When I first discovered these a couple of years ago it was like a part of me had been completed. If you find yourself missing legit Mexican food from elsewhere, this might just be your ticket to happiness.

Our meals were cold. I suspect this was in part due to our server who didn’t check in to take or orders for literally 20 minutes and disappeared afterwards leaving our glasses empty. It then took an additional 30 minutes before we got our food. It was a Friday at 8pm so maybe she was just too overwhelmed with her other tables? Regardless, cold food and poor service equals 2 stars.

Well I was excited to eat here & partake in a tasty beverage. So much for that. Guy whose name starts with J was not friendly or welcoming. Walked up to cashier to be seated & asked for table for two, his reply was seat yourself or whatever. Sat down for drinks but got the same attitude so I’m out of here to try my luck at Chester’s. Beer selection may not be as vast but hopefully they will make up for it in customer service.

I was here Friday for anniversary get together and it s fun. We each ordered a different beer and passed them around. After a couple hours we were feeling no pain. We had some bruschetta, curds and rings, all good.

I always love this place. Service can be slow at times especially if you sit on the patio but the beer and food are worth the wait. The taps are rotating and there truly is something for everyone. You could probably go every day for a year and have the opportunity to drink a different beer every day. Their tacos are to die for. A little bit bigger than street style so somewhat pricey but really not bad considering the quality. They also make delicious specialty cocktails which I am a sucker for.

Loved sitting on the patio now that the weather is nice again! Had a burger which was pretty good. Good service. I’ll definitely frequent this place this summer!

Tap House is easy to enter but hard to leave. Love the location and the selection of beer is hard to beat. Staff seem to always have good suggestions. Ambiance is nice and not so noisy so you can carry on a conversation which is important to me.

Yummy! The atmosphere was great the server was wonderful. She knew her menu and it was clear. She gave great recommendation and she reach knew her beers. Just describing what you would like she could get you something that just hit the spot. The cheese curds we my favorite and the guacamole was wonderful. We moved to the bar where Brian and Charles we very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Will be back!

This is a great choice in the warmer months. They have a small rooftop deck that we always go to and it’s a very laid back place to have a few pints and dinner. The staff on the deck is always pretty busy, but that’s to be expected. The food ranges from out of this world to ‘just ok’ sometimes for the same dish. I’m a taco lover and the first time I had the pork tacos here my head exploded with joy and I thought they were some of the best tacos I ever had. Other times, the pork was dry and flavorless. If they were more consistent I’d be here all the time. Also, the beer selection is very good. I shall return… when it’s warmer.

With over 50 craft beers on tap and a menu that’s not stuffed but offers a little for everyone — this is a hidden treasure in downtown Rochester. The tacos are great. Two to an order and are filling. The donuts are piping hot and a sweet end to a meal. They have several martinis as well.

I came here on a Friday night and this place was poppin’. My partner and I were there to try out their fried delicacies and we were pleased with the warm ambiance of the place: candles on the tables, dim lighting, and holiday decorations to boot! I loved that they had quite the variety of draft beers on tap – it took me awhile to pick just one. And if you can’t decide, they also have flights of beer to fuel your indecisive nature. Moving on to the main reason we ventured into this fine establishment. Because I was visiting the Midwest, my partner was very adamant about us trying out the great staples of the land: fried cheese curds. They did not disappoint. They were little pockets of light cheese heaven. And paired with a cold brewski, it was simply divine. Even though I was full from my dinner, I couldn’t stop from eating them. We also had the onion rings because we take our fried food seriously. Everything about this place was wonderful and I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a fun place for a drink or need a place for a date!

the well-rounded bartender is really good at giving me more bourbon. I like you the skinny guy thinks the music should be as loud as a podunk barn party. like legends. I don’t like you as much.

I like it here. This is a great improvement over the old German place that was here. I enjoyed myself at the bar with Charles the bartender and he made us fantastic drinks. He was personable and made our experience a five star for certain. The cheese curds were delicious and I loved the batter on them. Fries were pretty dang delicious too. I’m going to make this my go-to when in Rochester.

Sunday is trivia day at the Tap House — highly recommended. Bring a friend knowledgeable about the 50s to 80s as that comprised nearly a third of our questions from every round. I’m a 90s child and I have no powers in that era. In terms of food, their menu is very small and somewhat expensive. $ 9 for a Philly steak sub and $ 3 for a hot dog is high for Rochester standards. Add in fries and you have quite an expensive meal for bar food. That’s all before any alcohol is involved. I ordered the Philly steak and fries, both of which I admit were subperb and served quickly. Luckily portion size is no issue because these come ‘Merican big and I rolled away from the evening feeling pretty full. Service was average but I think I can forgive them as trivia night is quite busy on the rooftop. Looking to come back here frequently.

Nice beer selection. Limited food selection. Embarrassingly bad service. Slow. Inattentive. Slow… Did I mention slow and inattentive? We waited 5 minutes before being greeted by our server and when she did«greet» us, she just dropped off menus. Another 5 minutes at least until she came back to get our drink order. They were out of something for the first drink my wife ordered, so she had to make another choice. They were out of something for her second choice too. We ordered our food when we ordered our drinks because I feared how long it would take her to come back. The food was okay. The nachos looked great and tasted great. The wings came looking pretty unappetizing. 9 wings on a paper lined platter swimming in sauce. No blue cheese. No carrots and celery. We were never asked if we wanted a second drink. We piled our empty plates in the middle of the table after we were done eating and waited a good 5 minutes for the waitress to notice us. She didn’t seem willing to multi-task. She came out to the patio, dealt with one table, then returned inside. She was at least prompt with running our card when we were ready to pay. After telling some friends and on Facebook I got comment after comment about how the service is always terrible at the Tap House. I don’t think we’ll be back.

Lots of beers listed but first four I requested were out although these were not marked on the menu. The place has plenty of levels and views but seems understaffed. We actually got our menus from unbussed tables around us. We noted the table nearest us was never biased from the time we arrived til when we left. The nachos were delicious but my burger was clearly not Ground chuck but a poor cut of meat that the kitchen new better not to serve rare. It came with the cheese but no bacon or «fixings» despite how it was listed in the menu. While called a «Bad Ass» burger on the menu there was nothing about threatening about this burger to any other purveyor of food. I could not recommend this burger to anyone. It’s just bad cow. The waitress rarely attended and didn’t seem to care about service, quality, or us.

We really struck out with our two choices on a recent evening in Rochester(coincidentally, the locations are right next to each other). The good: The space is nice and has a large rooftop patio divided into two areas. There was live music just ending the night we were there. Also, great selection of beer with in-depth descriptions. We shared a flatbread and it was tasty… more like a pizza, in my opinion but very good. We got the Go Topless. The bad: Sadly, as with our experience at Grand Rounds the service was bad. Our young, bespectacled server pretty much ignored us. Took her sweet time greeting us and getting drink orders. We requested waters for the table but she didn’t bring them with the beer. Asked again and five minutes later she was at the table next to us with no waters for us, so we asked her again. Then she came back out and spent five minutes chatting with a co-worker and breaking down an empty table before noticing our attempts to flag her down. Finally got the waters and then the flatbread arrived but we had no plates, napkins or silverware. Had to wait another few minutes to see a server to request them. Overall she had the attitude that she really did not think we were worth her time. Left a bad taste in our mouths despite the good food, beer and location.
