This experience started off alright, we walked in and sat where we wanted after being greeted promptly. We chose to sit outside, but shortly after many other tables were sat. Which would have been fine, however there was one server on with about 10 tables. He took our order promptly which consisted of Penne Al A Vodka and Chicken Roulade, with Calamari as our appetizer. We waited quite a while; our dinner came before our appetizer. When we asked the very overwhelmed waiter he stated he forgot, which is understandable considering he was handling 10 tables at the same time. However, we finished our dinners before we even received the Calamari. With that being said, the food was mediocre at best. The Chicken Roulade with a side of linguine and red sauce tasted processed; the red sauce tasted like it was from a can and the gravy tasted like a powdered gravy. The Penne A La Vodka tasted average as well. Overall this was a very bad first experience, not sure if we will give it another shot but if we do it will not be for awhile…

Good service, but the sauce wasn’t so good. What’s a calzone without good sauce? The meatball hero was just ok. Meatballs did not have a homemade quality.

Ate here with my son late on a Sunday evening. Nice, clean space with a semi-open kitchen and a pretty extensive red-sauce Italian menu with a few more sophisticated dishes. We had two«specials»: a tortolleni forrestiere with shrimp and a garlic sauce that was really quite good. Nicely presented with fresh herbs garnishing a healthy portion. The pasta bolognese was hearty and pretty traditional with lots of cheese and good meat sauce. Your classic American style Italian dish. The only issue is that there was only one server for the whole place; there were probably 5 tables occupied when we were there and a couple were fairly large groups. Our service was leisurely — not painfully slow but not exactly attentive either. Our waiter seemed kind of tired of it all. So, if I included service as a key indicator I might drop down to 3 stars. But, considering we were wrapping up a nice weekend and weren’t in a hurry, the pacing worked out just fine for us.

Really don’t get the negative comments, I was in town for work and decided to try this place, my experience was really good, the service, the place and the FOOD! Very good. Rock hill doesn’t have much around and this place is just perfect when it comes to food.

CRUST Italian Eatery at Bernie’s Referring to the negative reviews I have found here, I can only write about our experience, which was great. Want to eat at Bernie’s but without the lively activity at Bernie’s? Then try Crust at Bernie’s located right next to Bernie’s! How much more convenient can you get! They share a huge kitchen behind the scenes so you’re getting exactly the same food as served next door AND you are enjoying the heavenly bliss of peace and quiet! Tonight Pilar and I started off with something ultra Yummy, which I had seen, posted earlier in the day on Facebook — their Crab Rangoon’s with a Spicy Thai Sauce. The sauce was so good that I gobbled up what was on the plate with the accompaniment greenery. The strawberry offered a pleasant counter balance to the sauce. As we were at the end of our daylong Good Friday Fast we were starving so we went for the Sushi, which was delicious with rather large pieces, and I has a slice of their pizza. Like my dad before me, I love ultra-thin crust pizza but it’s pretty rare that I get it and it isn’t soggy. This pizza was very, very thin, even the outer crust was so thin it was almost non-existent. ANDDDDD… it was NOT soggy! It was perfect! A very delicious meal in a comfortably quiet environ for a very reasonable price! We live in the area and go here to get take out pizza and it is usually decent, nothing wonderful but satisfies a pizza craving. Today my pal ordered a burger with fries and the fries were both wet and burned at the same time! The bread was disgustingly soggy and inedible! The actual was okay buy he didn’t eat it because of the bread. We also ordered Pear and Gorgonzola pizza and it had had tomato sauce on it which was off putting. The pear was not cooked and was cut into oddly large square slices. It was like they just threw them on randomly to a pizza that was already made. It’s pretty expensive for the quality and we were left hungry. My husband got a meatball hero and he said it was pretty good.

Excellent service that went out of their way to be helpful. We had the chicken club, and the chicken was perfectly cooked. And the French onion soup was pretty baller. Frank was pretty cool and very interested in social media.

This is the worst place I’ve ever been . As I’m writing this and I’m still waiting for my food already 45 min. I got glass of iced water and the water cup it’s all dirty and we had some appetizers the plates are still on the table and the waitress comes around once in the while I would say every 10 – 15 min. Overall this place is horrible. If you ever come don’t order sushi.

Visiting family in the area and wanted to treat them to a nice dinner. Someone said there was restaurant on Rock Hill Drive that served italian food AND some other cuisine. We found CRUST which looked quite nice inside— even white cloth napkins were used which are a rarity in this vicinity. The place was quite filled to the point that there was no room on the deck where we had preferred to eat because it was a lovely day. But overlooking a parking lot is not a great thing so we were not too disappointed. We were given two menus; one for Italian food and one for Sushi. Really? I was quite impressed at this diversity in expertise considering that both these cuisines, if done well, can be quite an undertaking. I saw meatball parmagiana on the menu and immediately asked how good the meatballs were and the answer, of course, was that they were pretty good. I guess that was a stupid question on my part – what did I expect her to say? In some restaurants they will steer you away from some items and suggest other items instead. We ended up ordering the following: Meatball paramagiana hero – yes, I did order it based on her answer. Eggplant parmagiana hero, Italian combo hero, and several chicken parmagiana dinners. Despite the fact that half the patrons had left, we waited and waited for our food. They served us hot, tasteless mini bread rolls with«frozen» butter. At least, it helped us pass the time. It diverted our attention from making jokes about the cook chasing a chicken around the kitchen for our chicken parmagiana. We would not have been joking had we known that the bread rolls we were having were to be the tastiest part of our meal. The two salads which accompanied the parmagiana dinner were fresh and plentiful. The one grape tomato on the salad was«chinsy» but there was plenty of iceberg lettuce and onions and dressing. The meatball hero arrived with four, what I would consider mini-meatballs placed in the center of the bread leaving the two ends of the bread with nothing but sauce. What was the chef(cook?) thinking? Why not add two additional meatballs which were the size of golf balls to either end of the sandwich to fill it up and give the illusion of a real sandwich??? This criticism of the smallness of the meatballs turned out to be the greatest act of kindness the chef could have done for me. After tasting these tasteless un-flavorfull meatballs, I had to end this dining experience and set the dish to the side. The person who ordered the italian combo(which visually looked great) took pity on me and shared half his sandwich. After two bites(more like tugs at Turkish Taffy) I gave the rest back. The ham was sliced thick, and the prosciutto was of such poor quality that the gristle made you have to tug and tug at it with your teeth. The solution was to take out the prosciutoo and try to eat the rest but it was not worth the effort or the calories for me. The person who ordered the chicken parmagiana dinner with pasta is an avid pasta lover yet chose to leave the pasta after one forkful. This amazed me because again visually the pasta looked good. I insisted on tasting the linguini and pasta only to discover that the sauce was soooooooo full of parmagiana cheese(powdered kind you buy in the supermarket) that it was inedible. A simple marinara sauce would have done the trick. There are countless recipes of them on the internet and the chef will do well to look for one and stick to it. Don’t improvise on what you don’t know how to make. Simple advice, nothing personal. On the same dish, chicken parmagiana was burned all around the edges(really burned –black) from the excess of cheese running onto the pan. The same was true of the second chicken parmagiana dish. How does a chef make the same mistake twice on an order going to the same table unless s/he considers it a cooking technique. I leave the best for last – the eggplant parmagiana hero. It was recognizable as such and the person who ordered it ate half. I tasted it and it was not a bad dish. I suggest that the oil used to fry up the eggplant be freshen up because there was an «old oil» taste. I am impressed that with this level of mediocrity of food that the place was almost filled. Perhaps these are visitors to the area such as myself and bad food doesn’t make a difference because they are not returning. I wonder whether the residents of the area ever make a pilgrimage to this«Crust» restaurant, AKA«Bernie’s Crust» Maybe the crowd on this day was there for the sushi which this restaurant also carries. But I will tell you all NOW, this is NOT a place I would ever return to under any circumstances.

Review update — Now for an update from Sept 2013. First, read the filtered reviews of this place. They are varied, but useful. They have changed the menu here a little, which is nice. They are more crowded than they were before as well, also nice. The outside patio is very nice. If the weather permits, sit there. Service is very pleasant. We had pizza, eggplant, it was good, not great. Took some home, not sure we will eat it though. All in all I wish them much success. Its hard to be «upscale» serving pizza, which can be had down the street for much less, burgers, also can be had down the street for much less, and then more sophisticated entrees, which seem priced a little on the higher side to me, especially for this depressed county. I think its terrific the town has a pizza joint, a real sports bar(that has live music on Thur and Sat), a diner, an Italian fast food type place(only breakfast and lunch), a very upscale eatery(Bernies, connected to Crust) and then Crust, which is trying to cater a little bit to all of the above types of clientele. The town is not that big, so they have to be a destination place for people from surrounding areas, I hope the pull is strong enough.

I bought a gift certificate through my employer to eat here. When I went to pick up my order, the woman told me she wouldn’t accept the voucher($ 15 off a $ 22 purchase). She said it was for eat in only. Nowhere on the certificate does it say this. She calls her manager and finally takes it. I pay and look at my receipt. There is an 18% gratuity charge added on! I asked what it was for. She said«it says to add it on here» and she points to the sentence where it says «18% gratuity added prior to discount when full table service provided.» …I said«this is for eat in with a big party», and she tells me that her manager told her it was the only way they would take the certificate. So not only did they refuse to honor a certificate that I paid money for, they added on an extra charge without telling me first. After the hidden charge, and what I paid for the certificate I ended up only saving a few dollars, and it was still more expensive than if I went to any other pizzeria. If i’m not mistaken, these certificates are part of their advertising to get new people into the restaurant. The whole point is to make that customer’s experience as pleasant as possible so they come back. Who argues with, and tries to charge extra fees instead? As for the food, it’s generic pizzeria food. It’s nothing special; except for the extra special price. My family’s meal was almost double the price of anywhere else and it tasted the same. What are we paying extra for? atmosphere? good customer service? Please. We would have gone back if it weren’t for this, so I hope that 18% was worth losing potentially hundreds more from us and anyone else we tell about it.
