Brackett’s Oceanview Restaurant

While visiting Rockport last weekend my fiancé and I stopped into Brackett’s around 4pm for a quick bite to eat. This quick bite turned into a dinner and overall I would rate this establishment a 3.5−4.0. The view was amazing, our server (Kerry I believe) was quick, attentive and pleasant.
The sirloin was as expected for the price point and overall pretty good. My fiancé had the haddock which she said was delicious and flavorful. In addition the strawberry lemonade cocktail was a nice accompaniment on a sunny day. If I am in the Rockport area again I would definitely consider stopping in here again. Would like to see a surf and turf on the menu though in the future.

Disappointing. The view and the service were great. The food was bad and expensive, especially seafood you’d expect to be good for a pricey place on the water in Rockport. clam chowder, seafood casserole, crab casserole. Stick to fries and simple fare here.

I’ve read some of the mixed reviews on Brackett’s, but I have to say we had a terrific experience here yesterday. No issues at all with the service or food. And yes, the scenery of the harbor from the back dining room is amazing.
We didn’t have a ton of time, as our bus for Gloucester whale watching was leaving in 45 minutes, but we did have plenty of time to have a nice lunch. We started with a complimentary basket of fresh baked rolls that were great, and it was a perfect accompaniment for my lunch.
I ordered a bowl of Spicy Fisherman’s stew and it was stellar! Chock full of fish and mussels, in a thick spicy and flavorful tomato based soup. For $ 8 it was a great value and a great dish.
Our party also ordered an arugula and a spinach salad.
We were very very happy with our dining experience here.

If you’re looking for an overpriced mediocre seafood meal and small portions this is the place for you. Lots of breadcrumbs barely any lobster in the casserole with heavy butter portion. All for $ 27!
View outstanding of the harbor if you’re lucky enough to get a table with view.
Stick to the hamburger. Difficult to ruin.

Great new menu, food is very fresh. Who would have thought good fish taco’s in Rockport, or anywhere on the East Coast for that matter?
So we come here a lot now when we’re back to visit friends and family. Maybe our visit a few years ago was a blip but things are really good now and consistently good.
We like to try different things and frankly, we haven’t been disappointed.
Los touristas are sometimes a bit nasty to the wait staff but that’s been par for the course for decades and the waitresses handle it very well.
Warm rolls and cornbread before dinner.
Full beer, wine and liquor bar for table service drinks.
We average about $ 45-​$ 50 (tip included) for two with one drink each at dinner.

I came here for lunch on a Sunday expecting it to be packed, but my table of 7 was seated right away! We sat in the dining room and had a great view of the beach and ocean. I ordered the spicy Italian fish stew which was delicious and very spicy, which was complimented nicely by the bread rolls they brought for the table. The bread basket also included pieces of blueberry crumb cake. As my lunch, I ordered the quiche and salad, which was rather tasteless. Everyone else at my table seemed to really enjoy their meal and the French fries were great. Perhaps quiche was an odd choice at this restaurant and I should have stuck with a more typical lobster roll! Both items I ordered were off the daily specials menu our waitress left with us.

Just ordered take out — Cajun grilled fish sandwich with a green salad — not too shabby. The portion was beautiful & the food was very good. One small suggestion, make sure you confirm what comes on/​in your meal. The fish had cheese on it & had I known I would of ordered it without.

We had a new waitress who was totally clueless! My daughter has special dietary issues and when we asked about a certain meal being made for her she said she would check but never got back to us! We were, 45 minutes in with just drinks when I had to ask for our waitress to find out what was up with the order and she said no problem with our request! Unfortunately my daughter only ate the bland fish with spinach and could not eat the French fries which she was not served nor was she offered a substitute for the French fries! Our bread was served after 1 hour of waiting, as far as the view goes unless you sit right up front of the window there is no way of seeing the ocean! Other reviewers said you can see it from every table which is so not true! Very expensive for mediocre food! Never again!

So gross. I felt like I was eating a hospital meal. Everything was bland, no taste, no flavor. Tasted like it came from Market Basket. Salad from a bag, Kraft salad dressing. It was just gross!!!
