We were looking for a nice sit down restaurant and this place has a spectacular view. While waiting for a table, we ordered a round of drinks from the bartender and she was excellent. It quickly went downhill from there. Our waitress was perhaps one of the worst I have encountered. We asked about the catch of the day and she seemed put out to find out how it was prepared. They have a limited menu with a few various sides like smashed potatoes and vegetables. When asked if we could substitute the fries only beets and greens were given as alternatives, once again seeming annoyed. The food was mediocre and my kids got steak which was charred and they could not eat it. When the food was brought out we had no proper utensils. The waitress never came to ask if we needed anything. We had to track down a different waitress and ask about sauce for the steak and the staff was stupefied. Once again, after another extended wait, a third waitress finally brought us Worcestershire. It took another long wait to get our check and by the time we left the whole town was shut down. This place has a great view, but I would stick to drinks in the bar, she was the ONLY person that seemed to know what was going on.

7th wave has great cocktails in a perfect setting– a deck overlooking the harbor. However, their food is subpar and their menu is very limited. Lobster roll was decent but fries were hard, very limited options for vegetarians. But– can’t beat the view.

Attentive service, gorgeous view, unique drinks, fresh and delicious food! This is a true casual dining experience. We sat on the deck and enjoyed the light refreshing menu. The appetizer we chose was delicious! Who knew we have black seabass being locally caught? The Tuna steak melted in my mouth and was served with delicious vegetables in a lobster sauce. We will be making this a regular spot.

My wife and I have been long time fans of the 7th. Wave … until today. We typically make several trips to Rockport during the summer to enjoy some shopping and some time near the ocean. We always go the 7th Wave for the great view and the fresh fish and chips. After waiting 40 minutes for a table we were seated and handed out menus. No fish and chips, not much of anything that we though was appealing. We asked the waiter if the menu had been changed. He said new owners, new menu. We settled on hanger steak for our meal. We both asked for medium rare. Neither meal was even close. The inside was red and cool and tasteless and the fries were cold. My wife ordered a beer and decided on a second one of something different. She got the wrong beer. I tried one cocktail and decided on a different one for my second. I got the same thing again. One other couple who also questioned the menu change decided to leave while we were there and another couple next to us just got drinks and commented to us the same disappointment with the menu change. For the new owners. If this is working for you and your making money, I guess I can only say, stay with it. As for us, we won’t be back.

I came here this past weekend during a visit to beautiful Rockport. The restaurant has a roof deck and a wonderful view of the ocean so it just seemed appropriate to stop in! the food was delicious(see pics). Mom and I ordered the lobster roll and my sister got the fish and chips. Everything was delicious — especially the whole belly clams fried. I’m incredibly puzzled by all the reviews, especially on undercooked seafood and weird seasoning, I mean it was delicious — all of it. Service was great too, waitress was very accommodating and attentive. I will definitely be back again before the summer is over!

Like most people have already said… go for the view, not the food. Lobster roll was odd flavor, was it old bay seasoning? whatever it was, it didn’t taste right and the lobster itself had no flavor, it was very odd… but I did like the buttery bun! Fried clams were very over-fried and dried out. Sad face. No parking as this is on a road with only shops lining the walkway.

Go for the view, not for the food or drinks. No vegetarian entrees at all. Fish entrée we ordered was super undercooked and mostly inedible — I needed a steak knife to cut it. Lobster roll was way overpriced, considering the market price of lobster at the time. Side of fries was small — about 15 medium-cut fries in a dish — so don’t count on sharing it if you’re hungry. The rose wine was strange, basically cold red wine. The fried seafood baskets were okay. Service was friendly, but not very attentive.

The resturant looks nice, but the menu is not vegetarian friendly. We left before ordering anything(because there was nothing for us), and the waitress and hostess were very nice about it, but I don’t believe a rating above 3 stars is appropriate for a resturant with no vegetarian options beyond a plain salad.

This is one of the better spots in Rockport, the view is fantastic from the upstairs deck and the food, although nothing fancy is solid and fairly reasonably priced. We had the Tuna Poke and it was very good, just ask for more wontons. The steak salad was fresh and the fish and chips very satisfying. The wine list was lacking a bit, but the rose was very refreshing and dry. The best part of our experience was our waitress Olivia, she rocks and made our meal memorable!

Perfect table perfect weather but the food & service awful. Lobster claw water soaked. Clam chowder salty & tasteless. Garden salad gritty — service was slow.

Hi we went there I had a Groupon, it was just ok. Tourists love it, it is a beautiful setting. Order a hot and dirty martini but they didn’t have the hot, but did try to make up for it. We ordered the lobster claw app it was over cooked. The steamers were good, cooked well and hot but it is cool on the deck even on a hot night so the food get’s kinda cold first or you feel in a rush to eat. My friend got the blueberry lemonade, not much liquor. So I guess I go for drinks on a hot night and an appetizer but it doesn’t have a bar and Rockport closes at 9:00 P.M. so I guess it’s a no unless you want a view and it’s totally hot and 4:00 P.M.

Lobsta roll was on point, kids. Would eat again. Try and sit up top for a nice breeze and view!

We dropped into this tourist café recently in search of a cocktail. We were politely informed that the state law required a food order along with our drinks. It was very easy to oblige and we enjoyed a very pleasant basket of fried clams while we looked over the water and discussed the topics of our day. Service was exceptional by a young woman from Rockport that attends the University of Vermont. I grew up not far from Bearskin Neck and I always visit these old stomping grounds when I return to New England for a visit. Needless to say, I’ll return to The 7th Wave next time I’m on the North Shore. Great job, folks! And the view is gorgeous!

We came at the start of June and found that he upper deck is being repaired. Downstairs was open so we ate the basics — lobster, steamers, and fried clams. Food was good. Service was ok. We had a new waitress. There are still views, just not as good as the upper deck.

Amazing!!! I hate to see the awful reviews here and quite frankly don’t think I went to the same restaurant as the other reviewers. My boyfriend and I drove up there on a Sunday afternoon and after looking at a few different places settled on this one even after seeing the less than desirable reviews on here. The ambiance is perfect — not too high end, not too local yocal. Ocean view, roof deck patio. They have the best bloody mary’s I’ve ever had, the steamers were spot on, the fried scallops… OMG! Drool! Lobster ravioli — nailed it. Clam chowder… This chef is obviously a New Englander. Our waitress was super friendly and the bathrooms impeccable. Go! Eat! Drink! And ride the wave! And remember that if it’s busy, cut them some slack… It’ll be worth it!

Was in Rockport and decided to have dinner here. The view is GREAT but the food was average at best and the prices are quite high. But what can you expect when you are in a tourist area. Had the raw seafood tower which was average and steamers. Service was spectacular but if the food is not good I’m not paying above average price for great views and service since I can’t get full with either one of this. Won’t be going back.

The view from the deck is great! Unfortunately I can’t say that about the food. I had to send the Cajan shrimp back! Taste like it’s been soaking in water. Exchange it for a lobster roll. The roll was much better.

Went to Rockport for the day and ended up here for lunch on a whim. The cup of clam chowder was really good. The lobster roll was good. It didn’t have a lot of mayo which is what I prefer, but it did have a little bit too much black pepper in it. One of my friends got the fried clams and another got the fish and chips. It seems like the fried clams were the best of the meals. The view was great and the service was pretty good.

Went out for dinner at 7th wave, the view was great upstairs we ordered lobster ravioli and lobster roll. The lobster roll light on mayo toasted hot dog roll lots of claw meat No fillers just a piece of bib lettuce. Lobster ravioli in a sherry cream sauce was delicious Fresh pasta and excellent lobster taste. i asked the server if the ravioli were house made or made elsewhere and she took a second not knowing but said house made. The bathrooms could use a deep cleaning That’s the only downfall

The food was great, we tried the Oysters, Gauc Dip and chips and a Tuna dish. All three were good and the best part was the availability of liquor. We needed some beer after soaking the sun. The staff was amazing very friendly. Overall we had a good time.
