Personally, I really like this café. The staff is always very friendly to me. MUSTTRYTHEBEEFSUBMARINE! It is really a beef wrap made out of the famous Korean BBQ beef bulgogi wrapped up with veggies and served with rice. Takes me back to my days performing in Korea. Definitely one of my favorite Korean-American fusion foods I’ve had! Only complaint is the limited hours. Maybe a little pricey, but for a family run, non-chain, quality food café, I find it to be quite worth it, especially for the beef submarine!

Nice people, but overpriced. I only let myself come here every once in a while as a «treat» for a good turkey sandwich. If I get anything else I may as well be at a sit down restaurant being served. I think it’s silly to walk out of deli spending over $ 10 for a sandwich and a drink.

Limited hours… the one visit I went there today, they were closed… The a-ok rating dead center is the middle is because co-workers tell me they have been doing a good job for years…

I work in the same building that this restaurant is in so I have the opportunity to eat there often. It’s pretty much your basic deli, with sandwiches, sodas, chips, etc. so don’t expect too much in the way of specialty cuisine. With that said, the family that runs the deli is Asian, on Tuesdays and Thursdays they have handmade sushi which is delicious! They also have this Bulgogi Chicken on Fridays which is basically a stir fry chicken with vegetables and rice, but I still like it. Wednesdays special is a Gyro which you can order with lamb or chicken, both are delicious. The food itself is basic, don’t expect anything fancy and you won’t be disappointed. My main beef with Carvings is that it is fairly expensive and I wish the prices on their items were clearly marked. You don’t realize how much you’re spending until you get to the register and are ready to pay sometimes. A sandwich, drink and chips will set you back at least $ 10 or so, sometimes more and most things in the deli are marked up way too high. A 20 oz bottle of Coke will set you back $ 2 for example vs. 65 cents for a Pepsi of the same size in the employee lounge. Things can also get pretty hectic during the lunch time rush, I try to make a point of never going in between 12 and 1 p.m. On the couple of occasions I have, I haven’t ever noticed any particular issues but you’ll be waiting at least 10 to 15 minutes because it can get pretty crowded in there. As mentioned by other reviewers, hours can be an issue with Carvings as well because they cater mostly to work hours by the employees in the building, they’re open Monday through Friday from 7 to 4. Overall it’s not a bad place to eat, just be aware of who it’s main client is, the average office worker who needs a quick breakfast or lunch during their work day.

I live in King Farm but this place is only open M-F during the day — I had a day off and thought I’d wander down and check it out. The smell in the place was OVERWHELMING. It smelled like someone marked the place in soy sauce. The menu looked home made(not the food — the actual menu) and one of the servers behind the counter seemed to be lecturing a customer. I left.

Carvings is within walking distance of the office and a nice option if you don’t want Thai. Big fan of the King Farm sandwich. The service speed has picked up a bit and they are always friendly. The place is usually pretty busy too. Good option if you work in the area.

I work in the building and only eat here when extremely desperate. The issue with Carvings is quite simple… these people do not know how to cook. The food is awful. I’ve eaten here thirty times during the past year and a half and always leave regretting the experience. Stick with chips and soda, the only thing this restaurant can’t screw up.

This place is right down the street from my office. On a very busy day, I run down to the establishment to grab a quick sandwich. All of the staff were busy sitting together having lunch, so no one was on duty to take my order. Once one of them came around the counter to take my order, I specifically ordered a sandwich with no mayonaisse(mustard only). She even asked me what kind of mustard i wanted(plain or spicy). I paid $ 8 for the sandwich no drink or sides. I return to my office only to open up the sandwich and find it caked with mayo.(No mustard was on the sandwich). Gross. If I pay $ 8 for a regular sandwich, I expect better. Just goes to show if you are rushing and not paying attention to your customers, you are likely to mess up. Never again.

Step 1: Stop agreeing to coworker’s lunch suggestions in order to avoid tasteless egg salad sandwich. Step 2: Make up an excuse about eating lunch with a friend in town. Step 3: Drive self to eat good Unilocal-approved food alone in peace.

Quick and filling This place is in King Farm(down the road from Thai Farm) it is kind of hidden with only a small sign on the outside. I’ve tried a few items but I always come back to the same thing. The King Farm sandwich. Which is mustard, roasted bell peppers, onions, and fresh turkey meat. It’s cooked on a press until the cheese is melted. This sandwich has never failed me and since its walking distance from the office, sign me up as a fan!
