For the Rockwall location-One star automatically for having an outdoor patio! The atmosphere of this place is great, indoors and out. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. Most places honestly does not really know what«street tacos» are and they make them too big. But then again, we are in Texas. I was looking for something not too smothered in cheese and sauce and this did it for me. The wine list was mediocre, but then again, I should have been drinking a margarita or Mexican beer ;) I give this place 3 stars, b/c of the service. Most people have problems with the lack of service, but I find that over abundance of service and trying to rush people out the door is a problem as well. Between my waiter and another guy(maybe manager) I was approached about 6 times during my short meal. My waiter even approached me mid-bite to ask if I wanted the check or dessert… this would have been great if my plate and glass were empty but alas, both were half full. I did let him know that was not acceptable. to ask someone mid bite if they want the check or dessert. I honestly took a look around me to see if a crowd had gathered. Also, I was eating lunch about 1:30pm, so there was not a rush of people by any means. I understand the need to ask patrons if they are ok… but this was rather annoying. Please, let us finish our meal before you toss the check at us.

Right off the bat our whole experience seemed incredibly rushed. We were sat at a table in between the bathroom and the kitchen, despite many other seating being available. I went to the bathroom when we first got there and within the time it took me to get in and get out my fiancé had already been asked by 3 different people if she wanted an appetizer. The waitress continued to approach us from behind. It was really awkward and actually made my fiancé jump at one point in time. We took awhile to look over the menu. The manager went out of his way to ask if we needed help finding something on the menu. Um, we know how to read a menu. So, no. This was after the waitress had already been over to ask if we were ready to order twice. It would’ve been nice to be seen as customers rather than a table that needed to be flipped before the church crowd came in. On top of all of that, I ordered the«sunset enchiladas» which is what I come to Mi Cocina for. I received with much disappointment regular beef enchiladas that can be gotten from any, much cheaper Mexican restaurant. I didn’t send it back because I was hungry and didn’t want to deal with that confrontation at the time. However, you would think a good server would notice when their customer has received the wrong food. It would’ve been understandable if it didn’t clearly state on the receipt«sunset enchiladas.» At first, I thought it might have just been a miscommunication on my part. It wasn’t. Very much disappointed. You would be better off making the trip to Plano and dining at the Mi Cocina there. Will not be back.

Their food never disappoints. Ambience is quiet and music is perfect. All of their staff is attentive. We are regulars. Never leave without a Mambo Taxi

Lemonade was too sweet, I had to add water. The queso had too much pico in it but my food was really good! The waitress seemed a little in a rush because we were barely eating our food and she came to ask if we were saving room for dessert. Not too fond of the rice and I remember it tasting different when we use to go to another location. Very nice ambiance.

Best waitress ever! We had lunch on Saturday afternoon. The staff were very friendly and upbeat from the moment we walked in. My sister in law and I had Ernie’s Chicken and it was delicious! My husband and brother had Brisket Taco and they said they were great! Blanca(our waitress) was very professional, personable, and attentive. We will most certainly go back the next time we visit my brother and sister in law.

I saw a picture of the Sampler Platter and had to try it. It’s no longer on the menu, but they were happy to make it for me. Each item tasted good, I most liked the enchilada with the queso or sour cream sauce. I’m not sure what it was, but it tasted great. Rice and beans were on point. It gets busy and you may have to wait a little, but it’s worth it. Service was quick, workers were helpful and polite. Restrooms were clean.

I love this place, but my phone was stolen yesterday either from the table or ladies room. I was away from there only 25 minutes before I was back looking for it. Sadly, it could not be located and no one knew anything. When we called, the phone had been turned off. There were two female employees in the restroom at the time I was helping my son go potty, and our table was cleared during that time. I feel confident Mi Cocina is employing a thief. I had it at the table, but did not leave with it in my possession. We locked the phone down and were able to track it twice, moving across southern Rockwall, but the thief has kept it turned off since. I will be hard pressed to return, as I do not feel the staff can be trusted.

Been making the Rockwall location a regular stop 2 – 3 times per month and the quality is the best Mexican food in town. Prices are higher than most places in Rockwall and I am still adopting the thought people will pay for quality. Service stands out every time making 5 stars an easy choice as they will continue to get my funds often here.

I vacillate frequently with my opinion on Mi Cocina. Wonderful ambiance, above average service, ambitious Tex-Mex menu and the absolute best chips you’ll ever eat. That’s a pretty good start for a Mexican restaurant, right? On the other hand, the prices are really expensive — have they always been like this and I just didn’t notice? I had a lunch order of beef fajitas on this visit and for around $ 13(I think), I received five small pieces of less than average fajita meat. Usually, the meat is freshly cut and you can still see the juices and the pink hue, but this visit, there were no juices or color at all. Hmmm. I realize I could have sent it back, but I hate having to do that when dining with a companion as no one likes to watch the other person eat. Most of the time I’m content when leaving Mi Cocina, but they are currently trending in the wrong direction.

Mi Cocina Rockwall we love you, please don’t ruin our weekly(ok sometimes bi/weekly) tradition! Lol seriously. We have been coming here since they opened and I swear my Ernie’s Chicken goes up in price $ 1 every 6 months. I think it started around $ 11 or $ 12 and is now like $ 16. That’s kind of crazy! I love it so I keep coming back but now I’m noticing that the last 5 or so visits that our Mambo Limo’s are only being poured leaving about 2 inches empty at the top with a huge lime unsqueezed at the bottom. If it was just once or twice… ok… but my husband who was a bartender manager all though college knows what’s up. And our wonderful bowl of queso blanco isn’t full anymore, less pico on top, less guac with my Ernies. Come on Mi Cocina Rockwall… ya’ll are going up in prices and getting cheap at the same time. If I notice this get’s better I will adjust this rating!

Food was real good. this specific location is nice, clean, but my bus boy was better then my waiter he got our drinks and everything faster and better then the waiter. Guess the lady whis the manager made a mistake on making him a buss boy. He was very sweet.

Ok here’s the problem with this location. The food is actually good, really good. The drinks are fabulous… But the problem is, the restaurant constantly has flies buzzing around! Not exactly appetizing! After our last visit, eating and swatting flies away from our food, I will not be returning.

I have frequent this place many times and have been satisfied. But today’s meal was perfect all the way around. I ordered the brisket tacos and the meat was cooked perfectly. Sometimes the meat can be dry and stringy at other Mexican restaurants where you really have to add lots of hot sauce or whatever to eat the taco. Today you could eat it plain and it was moist and delicious. The rice was good. Now another great thing about this place is their chips The hot sauce is good but their chips are the best. My husband and I go every weekend into Dallas for the sole purpose of buying hot sauce and chips at different Mexican restaurants There is some great sauces out there but Mi Cocina has the best chips. Our waiter Hugo was excellent as well. I have no complaints today and they deserve 5 stars

I want to like mi cocina, unfortunately they’re terrible. The food is decent, their service is really bad. They are slow, and have gotten my order wrong almost every time I go. The only reason I ever gone back, is they are conveniently located next door to where I work. But I’m done now. My food was raw. And not just the piece I have in the photos, the whole piece. So I could only eat half my lunch. A 15 $ meal wasted. When I called to have it refunded the manager wanted to remake my meal not refund it. I explained I did not have time to go back in, that my lunch was almost over, he got frustrated, and asked what I wanted. I wanted a refund. So they refund only that portion of the meal. Now I’ll just have to wait and check my bank statements and hope that they are true to their word. Not worth the effort to come here. So many better places to go. Bye mi cocina.

Awesomely consistent! Josua is the best bartender and Kim and Cassie are excellent servers. I always get the jalapeño margarita and the Tacos MiTierra.

I do not go to chain restaurants often and review them even less frequently. Chain restaurants are like those kids down the street, you remember, the ones that hope desparately you will one day agree to play with them(wait, I was one of those kids down the street). Mi Cocina — Rockwall is A-OK. Interior décor, seating, and salsa are fabulous. My enchiladas — one spinnach, one cheese, one chicken were good — but just a tad dry, alright they were really dry, but improved considerably after dumping a ton of that awesome salsa on them. It’s a perfect place to have a meal, sit back with good friends and family, and talk with an appreciative tone about the little people that have put you where you are. Mi Cocina — Rockwall is that one kid down the street that you’ll play with if no one else is around, and no one else is looking.
