We went at approximately 8:00 on a Saturday night. We were able to pick a spot. There was a live band — this was okay — but so loud there was no ability to have a conversation during dinner. Our appetizer was great — crab cakes — but hardly worth the cool $ 12 for three small crab cakes. The peach mojito was delicious. For dinner we ordered a chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and the fish basket with collard greens. The chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes were good and fresh. The fish had several days old oil that needed a change in the worst way. Collard greens were good, but they were out of hush puppies so they substituted fries. The establishment must be proud of the food because there was no condiments on the table including salt which must have not been added to the fish. Can’t speak on the slaw, hushpuppies, or sautéed mushrooms because they missed our plate. Overall the experience was OK. I had a question about a lead and harness but I bought it. I wouldn’t go back. Cotton Patch has more variety southern food with better parking and a cheaper ticket.

2x price for lesser quality alcohol($ 12/ea for 3 Olives). I did ask for manager since it was FULL table charged per drink, and manager didn’t even acknowledge us(very sweet teen server said«I’m sorry»). Knowing same owner across way at Three Sheets — I stopped to show bill and manager in charge responded«oh my god» and asked if we spoke with«gentleman»(clearly guy in charge I saw was correct guy — all other employees at time were ladies). FYI — we were there on a very slow Thursday night(went there 1 other time in past and half the business). Thursday’s are picking up(not really) in management eyes and they trying to make up per person with costs… Only thing that makes sense for what just happened

Seated promptly, even though it was about 1pm Saturday. The mixture of tater tots and fries were great; just odd that they came without ketchup or dressing. We asked for ranch and ketchup, then all was good — except I needed more ranch dressing. The Southern Boy Sandwich(translation: Po-Boy) was great, but very messy! All the ranch dressing that I needed for the tots was in this Sammy. This brings us to the star of the show; the Chicken & Waffles — it comes with Peach Syrup. Sounds like a sacrilegious faux pas, until you taste it!!! Wow! The Chicken & Waffles are worth the trip!!! Nephew played in band during meal; good stage, and great show. Come see a band. Quick service and a friendly waitress — drinks, appetizer, and food for 3 people was only about $ 80(including tip). Yay for the value; we’ll be back!

I’ve visited this restaurant twice now, both times I’ve left happy and wanting to come back! Make sure you try the crab cakes, for $ 12 you get three delicious cakes with fresh red bell pepper and house whole grain mustard sauce. They have been cooked perfectly with a light crunch on the outside and soft crab middle. No fillers, just great flavor. We came in the second time just for those and were told they hadn’t prepped them yet for the night, upon seeing my sadness the bartender said if I was okay with waiting a bit they could whip them up for me. They were definitely worth waiting for! I had dinner in the meantime off the Carolina pulled pork and cilantro corn. The meat is very tender and flavorful. Not a thick sticky sauce, just a nice tangy taste throughout. Crab cake time for dessert! They even comped them for me having to wait(I would have gladly paid, they’re awesome). I wish they were open more during the week but I understand slow times in the off season.

Maybe the rain kept everybody away… We were the only ones there, but is was straight up 11. Great atmosphere, staff was really nice and helpful, and now about the food. My grandson and I both got chicken and waffles, which was served with peaches and hot maple syrup: delish! My husband got the shrimp poboy. Ours was ready before his, so they brought him out a complimentary shrimp and grits. Yes, we helped him eat those yummy shrimp… His sandwich came and it was full of fried shrimp, Cole slaw, and a tarter sauce. I was full, but he said it was wonderful. The spicy Bloody Mary was very good with a chili-salt rim and a fresh slice of jalopeno. The staff said they have karaōke on Thursday and live music on Friday and Saturday. Check it out!!!

I had high hopes because everything that they post on Facebook looks so good on their pictures and then when you get there its not the same there meatloaf taste weird but they do have good Belgian waffles. And there are mimosas are only $ 2 and they have a lot of alcohol. It was okay but I thought it was going to be better service was okay pretty clean.

my wife and I went there for lunch yesterday I ordered the bib and blue salad and my wife ordered the shrimp with grits took forever for food to come out once it did come out my salad was all wilted and warm my wife’s shrimp was less than lukewarm! The service was very slow and one girl working the bar and all the tables my wife and I got a kick out of watching a manager why he around like a chicken with its head cut off and doing nothing, my glass of ice tea was empty and he walked by me five times and never ask us if you want to refill or how things are going, literally got up and walked out

Southern Comforts: New to Rockwall and still working out the kinks. I wanted to love this place right off the bat. The last time I was in here it was called«Agave» and not really promoted as a restaurant. Now with new owners and a complete remodel, «Southern Comforts» is a very, very good looking restaurant. I was impressed with the décor, lighting and overall ambiance. 5⁄5 We went for the«11am-3pm Weekend Brunch» because I wanted lunch and my wife wanted Breakfast. I thought the prices on the breakfast menu were fair, while the prices over on the lunch/dinner menu seemed a little high for the offerings. I had never seen a Chicken Fried Steak(with just one side) offered at $ 14, but I decided to take a swing. As we waited for our food, the waitress was polite and attentive. She offered the close the big garage door that opens to the patio when we asked about it(it was cold!) and she was happy to help. Good service. 5⁄5 Coffee came out first, and I was surprised and happy to see the creamer offered in small glass jars. This sort of set the tone for me right off the bat that this place was an upper end eatery, and suddenly I didn’t feel so bad about $ 14 on the chicken fried steak. When the food came out, the Chicken Fried Steak did in fact look amazing, especially paired with the mac and cheese. My wife got chicken and waffles, and my friend got a breakfast plate. I was sad to see that both the grape jelly and the butter were pre-packaged, cafeteria style. For a restaurant that brings creamer separate in a glass mason jar: there is no reason for them to go this route on the jelly and butter. Also obvious was the frozen pre-packaged has-brown. Again, they should be making hash-browns from scratch like the guys up the street at Fatted Calf. Thats just lazy. My Chicken Fried Steak was good, but not amazing. 7⁄10. Worth $ 12, but not $ 14. The mac and cheese was light on the cheese and the flavor, which was sad because it certainly looked the part. 6⁄10. All in all, I think the location, décor, service and coffee were amazing. I think the food was better than average, and some of the condiments were just cheap. Some adjustments could make this place a true 5 star destination in Rockwall. I will be back.

Worst dinner ever @ Southern Comforts. Waitress in the green bustier was unresponsive at best. The mashed potatoes were like glue and the apple pie would’ve been better from Marie Calendar. The hubby said the collard greens were good. The steak I had was cold. The band was great. Sad because last time we were here the food was great.

I went with a couple of friends to grab drinks for a birthday. Prices were okay, service could have been a lot better and the bartender was awful. We sat on the patio. The place was not busy at all but somehow our waitress was? With that being said, we ordered from the bar. The bartender was very attentive to the guys at the bar of course. She took 10 minutes to give us our drinks and was very rude. I wanted to like this place but I was disappointed.

Disappointing. The food took too long to come out. I ordered chicken and dumplings expecting a piece of chicken breast and dumplings but it came as a ‘mash up’(even though I asked the waitress how the chicken was prepared). Plus it tasted like it had ALOT of salt. Other than that the sound was WAY too loud on the football game. And due to the open air nature of the restaurant a fly and smoke from smoker outside was a bother. Are you kidding me??? My dining companion did like his meal though. I would not come back here.

I have two loves regarding food: breakfast and affordable breakfast. This restaurant has both. I’m not sure why Southern Comfort has a rating of only 2… that’s odd. Today was my first time in this area, and we were contemplating either seafood from Dodie’s or here. We were drawn here from their kid’s menu, as well as, their brunch special. Brunch is offered until 3pm, and even as 2:50pm the manager offered us the option from the brunch or evening menu. It was a very kind gesture. I saw another posting which stated Southern Comfort did not have a kid’s menu… this is not true. Not only do they have a kid’s menu, but they also have huge portions! The service was very nice and cordial. I ordered the chicken & waffles and would have liked more chicken or more waffles, but for $ 12, I think it was properly portioned. We will be coming back.

We went on a Friday night and were told to sit wherever. Well, the people who walked in after us sat at the table next to us and bam, our waitress was double sat. She asked them for their order before us. Not cool, but she really didn’t have a way to know who sat down first. We ordered the fries with the pulled pork for an appetizer and they were very dry and unimpressive. After that, we waited for over an hour for the dinners. My macaroni and cheese side arrived cold and mushy. The chicken fried chicken was not bad, but it was too spicy for my taste. It would have been better without the spice. My husband ordered the flat iron steak and said that it was pretty bad and under cooked. The place is definitely not kid friendly and does not have kids menus or lids for the plastic cups. We will not be back to Southern Comforts.

I would like to comment on the food but can’t. I got there before my wife and sat at a table. There was a large group in the middle of the place and one other couple. A waiter came by and asked if it was just me. I told him I was waiting on my wife and ordered a water which was served in a plastic cup. My wife got there and we waited for the waiter to come back. And we waited. And we waited! Finally we looked at each other and decided to go to Pizza Getti. I did not like this place when it was Agave and do not like it now. I tried to post no stars but I guess it won’t let me.

My husband and I came to the harbor to eat another restaurant when we walked by this one, so we decided to check it out. Obviously Texas/Southern themed, it had a nice atmosphere. We sat on the patio overlooking the lake, and it was nice. When we got the menu, I was surprised how small it was. However, I liked what they had to offer, chicken and waffles, fried green tomato salad, chicken fried steak. We both got cocktails, I had a mint julep, and my husband had something called the Dogwood. I was a little disappointed in my mint julep. It was on the smaller side, and was just basically whiskey with a mint leaf. My husband liked his cocktail. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and it was awesome. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the waffles were soft and fluffy. I just wish I had a little more chicken. My husband got the flat iron steak with mashed potatoes. He liked it. I was a little surprised that he only got a choice of one side with the steak, I think two sides for the price would have made more sense. They had a live band playing, and the place was hopping. We would definitely come back and try some more things off the menu. It was a good experience.

Literally the worst place I’ve eaten in years. Two of the six of the people of our party ordered chicken fried steak and our meal came out twenty minutes after everyone’s else’s. Didn’t even want it at that point. No one said I’m sorry everyone’s else’s food was completely consumed before your food was brought out. No one offered to comp our food. No one thought 45 minutes for a meal at an unknown mediocre restaurant was acceptable. I never saw a manager even after sending my super special 45 minute chicken fried steak back. Was not even offered. I would like to point out that I worked my way through college by waiting tables m for six years so I completely understand the inner workings of restaurants. This place is terrible. Don’t bother drinking/eating here if you have any shred of self respect. Ridiculous.

Very nice place in a very cool location. It is right by Lake Ray Hubbard at The Harbor Rockwall. Service is prompt and Amber did a really good job. We had a couple of beers, Texas Margarita and an order of Roadhouse Fries. In the description it says that the fries is topped with fried cheese, pulled pork, roasted jalapeños, sour cream and green onions. Everything was there except for the pulled pork. We didn’t see a peep or taste any part of pig in it. It was disappointing, for $ 8.95 I want the freaking pork on it! However, the Texas Margarita(spicy margarita) helped this review to not get only 2 stars. The drink was made fresh. I saw her squeezed the limes and put fresh jalapeños. It was really refreshing. I’d say come here for the drinks and sit outside to look over the like. We will definitely come back for that.

Stopped in on a Sunday evening around 8PM for dinner. After standing at the unattended hostess stand for a couple of minutes the bartender let us know that it was open seating so we grabbed a table and sat down. The menu choices looked good and we had our food + drink options picked out within a few minutes. Unfortunately 15 minutes or so went by and no one ever came by to take our order(or acknowledge us at all) so I can’t tell you if the food was any good. We left.

Preview: This place is an apology to steak. I really wanted to like this place, I really did. A couple of weeks ago, I walked by Southern Comforts after eating at Luna de Noche and it smelled fantastic. I was completely full from fajitas, but, being a fatty, I would have gladly eaten another meal because of how delicious it smelled. Fast forward to Saturday(June 27, 2015). Lets paint a picture with words! Picture this: It was a beautiful evening… maybe 83 degrees. Couples are walking around Rockwall Harbor holding hands, Families are dining on the patio of Luna de Noche, Glorias and Three Sheets while laughing and bonding, jackass teenagers were doing jackassy teenagey things that jackass teenagers do. We walk up to Southern Comforts and were asked by the Host if we wanted to sit inside or outside. Outside, we sat on picnic style benches which were appropriate for this style of restaurant. At this point, my red flag detector should have been activated. Every other restaurant was full… but this place was a freakin ghost town. There were maybe 3 other tables that had guests in the entire restaurant. It took 8 minutes for the waitress to finally visit our table and take our drink order, and another 5 minutes to actually get the drinks, which were served in clear plastic solo cups. «Classy as f*c&» should be this places motto. Their menu was southern themed which again, was appropriate for what they were going for. My buddy ordered the Chicken fried steak, and I ordered the flat iron steak – medium. I took a picture of the menu, so I will describe the steak verbatim«Grilled Flat Iron Steak — Flavorful and grilled to perfection.» That’s it. Simple, delicious steak… crap, I am hungry after just writing those words. The waitress came back to our table 15 minutes later and told our table that the food was being held up because the steak takes a long time to cook(REDEFFINGFLAG!!! FLATIRONSTEAKDOESNOTTAKE A LONGTIMETOCOOK). She came back another few minutes after that and apologized that the steak was taking so long. Great, thanks for reminding the table that I was the dumbass who ordered the steak FROMYOURFUC&!NGMENU!!! ARRRGHHHHHHHHH!!! Finally, food comes out. On my plate are delicious looking sweet potato fries and a blob of white goo. Ughhhh… Is this the steak? I clear a bit of the goo, and there was what purported to be, a «steak». It was a ½ gray piece of meat that, after attempting to cut, had the consistency of a well worn pair of Justin roping boots. The goo was a mixture of some kind of white cheese, onions and mushrooms. Recall time: Remember when I wrote the description of the flat iron steak? No where did it say: «Our steak is „grilled“ then smothered in onions and mushrooms until the steak is no longer visible, then we throw some cheese on top of it and broil it.» But that’s what it was. It had no pink in the middle and was well into the«well done» territory. The good/meh: My fries were fantastic. Seriously, some of the best sweet potato fries I have ever had. They were crispy outside and soft in the middle. They were perfectly seasoned and I would highly recommend them. My buddies chicken fried steak was nothing to write home about, but I think I would have enjoyed it. My wife got the catfish and it was pretty good as well – not eating a lot of fish, I cannot give an honest review, but she enjoyed the catfish, and said that she would recommend it. Some other fun stuff: –They do not have ketchup bottles. They give you little containers full of ketchup like you are at McDonalds or something. Maybe they don’t trust people with their ketchup. I dunno, I trust people to make their own decisions about the amount of ketchup to enjoy, but apparently they don’t and think that you are some kind of monster who cannot be trusted with decision making and the amount of ketchup you should have. TL;DR: Don’t order the flat iron steak.
