Food is okay. The lady who runs the place has the personality of paint drying and can come off rude but I don’t think she means to even though accusing someone of stealing a soda isn’t making any friends here. We were rung up by a younger guy who was super nice for three meals and three drinks. My kids had already grabbed there’s and I had all the plates in my hands. Sat down to eat and forgot to grab my drink so my oldest went and grabbed it for me. A few minutes later after it slowed down(wasn’t very busy but had a steady rush for a few minutes) she walks around looking at me before finally walking over and saying something that I had trouble understanding. At first I thought she asked to clear my plate(which would be a first in 20 years of coming here) but then she said no like I insulted her and accused me of taking another soda without paying for it. I was cool about it and said no I paid for it but didn’t grab it right away. Then she started laughing and saying no you took it and only paid for two. I said no we got three and she said no I rang you up so I know. I pointed to the guy who did ring me up and said no he charged me for three meals and three drinks. She kept saying no but the guy heard me and told her I had paid. Then she walked away. No apology. No sorry. Nothing. She just lost a longtime customer for $ 1.95 drink. Good is decent but service, don’t count on it. Oh they charge for refills and«to go water.»

still go here, and still the same as it was when I wrote my review 5 years ago. Cheap, fasts chinese food that gives you a ton for your buck. I definitely never walk away hungry. The line can get long but moves pretty fast– place is family owned and thats always nice in a world where corporations are moving in on every last family owned location. Some of these reviews on here are asking way too much of this place. You pay $ 8.00 and its not sit down service. what more can you ask for besides good quality cheap food? and for the people that say customer service is bad… I think its as decent as you get for going somewhere where they speak little to no english. as long as I can order food and they get it right and it tastes good, I guess thats all I care for. I mean, its $ 8 people!

Every once in awhile i try a little hole in the wall place and it really pays off. This family owned business is located in the far corner of a small strip mall. Not the best corner and not the best strip mall. Don’t be scared off by the location. This place rocks. The lunch is laid out cafeteria style. You can order different combos and t’s heaped onto your box(if to go) or a plate(if to dine in). The«B» box is the bargain option and it’s basically two items. You might as well go up to the«A» box for two or so dollars more and get the three item option. Especially since the minimum charge for a card is 7 dollars which very nearly matches the A box pricing. As an alternative you can order off the menu for 8 – 10 dollars. For you vegetarians that’s the best way to go as the cafeteria style section is not long on variety for veg options. The food is not the same Hunan style as you’d find in Hunan, but rather is Hunan cuisine modified for the american palate. Don’t let that scare you off either. The cook really knows his(or her) business. Freshly made, it’s hard to beat. During peak lunch rush there will be a small line, but it moves quickly. The food here is worth entirely every penny.

One of my favorite chinese food spots. The food is really good, although not spectacular. But you can’t beat a combo box of pretty good chinese food for only $ 8. Super easy to get in and out with a lot of food for cheap. No, the food will not blow you away, it’s solid. This place is all about quantity and affordability. Great spot.

After many enjoyable meals and service tonight ended it for me. Ordered the family usual, A box, medium Hunan Chicken and my B box. All fine until I say my usual ½ and ½ chow menu and fried rice! Oh my! The gentleman serving me, previously who has been in back said we don’t split B boxes. I said well I’ve been getting it half and half forever for which he said Not Here. I said yes and then the normal woman server comes out and I say and it’s her that serves me!!! He asks her, do you serve half and half B boxes? For which she said NO! No I don’t. I said, I must be crazy then. The moral of this isn’t the fact that they may not want to serve half and half B boxes the moral is the appalling customer service and LYING woman server that has provided me this countless times telling that jerk a lie that served no purpose other than suggesting I was a wrong. Horrible Customer Service that cost you not only my business but also my countless recommendation I’ve previously have given on their behalf.

Reading people complain about $ 7 for up to 2 pounds of Chinese food amazes me. It’s 7 bucks for a meal plus leftovers. Sure, it doesn’t taste like $ 40 Chinese food that feeds 2 from a highend Chinese place, but I never heard them claim to be. Way better than any other cheap Chinese place I’ve been. Puts Panda Express to shame. Huge portions and I mean huge. As I watch them scoop it full to the brim, I actually get worried about their bottom line. B+ taste and C+ texture. If you are willing to eat at McDonalds or other fast«food» joints(which most people do), this place is well worth a try. I go once every couple months. I even see the owners/workers eating the food so how bad could it be? Never once had an issue with the help. They are Chinese so they don’t speak much English, but never rude to me. The 5 star review is not for a 5 star restaurant, but for top notch fast food.

Love Hunan Kitchen! Have been coming here for almost 20 years and they have never let me down. Food has stayed excellent and consistent throughout the years. This is the greatest bang-for-your-buck Chinese place ever. They give you a ton of food and it’s all really good. It tastes like the kind of Chinese you’d get at a sit down restaurant, not a quick to-go kind of place. A million times better than any Panda Express or place like that where everything tastes like it came out of a microwave or was prepared ahead of time and reheated. Hunan’s food is great, and I could come here just to eat their sesame chicken by itself. Best version of the dish I’ve had and I will seriously need grief counseling if they ever close and I can’t get it anymore. I see complaints on here about service, but in the 20 years I’ve been going to Hunan Kitchen have never had a problem once. They get very busy and need people to know what they want so they can work through the line. My guess is any time they’ve been less than friendly with people is due to having to deal with the general public who act as if ordering some food is the greatest mental struggle they will deal with in their day. But if you have a few decently firing brain cells you can easily get good service at Hunan Kitchen.

Holy cow, I seen rude and then there’s rude that requires therapy and medication. I read the reviews and was prepare for the worst and hoping for at least mediocre food with zero service. I looked at the pictures on the wall and settled on «box A», It showed two entrees with fried rice and noodles. That was $ 7.50. The lady filled half the container with rice, no noodles though. When I asked about the noodles she and the man looked at me like I had three heads. It was then I read under the picture showing two entrees with both rice and noodles«rice or noodles». Mystery solved. False advertising was the culprit. As I stepped up to pay a family of five walked in and stood near the register. The lady yelled at them«move, move over there» waiving her arms at them. NICETOUCH. I paid and said thank you and she just ignores me. I was highly amused at this point so I said slightly louder thank you, thank you very much, have a great day. She said nothing. I left smiling to myself. Oh I almost forgot, the food. It was pretty bad. The orange chicken had some of yesterdays serving. Pieces were almost black with age and heat. The pepper chicken was missing a key ingredient — chicken. Some of the serving containers looked very scary. It reminded me of a cross between swap water and a dump site. As a rule I never eat anything I can’t identify. Unfortunately I failed myself on that count tonight. I know my review will not impact their business in the least, but I may help others thinking about eating there. Now I must go, I know I have some tums around here somewhere…

Not sure why it took me so long to hear about this place! It’s good quality, fast, and cheap. Chinese food in good, inexpensive portions like this is hard to find! I got the chow mein, potstickers and orange chicken my first time. I was full and satisfied for $ 8.15! Pretty stoked about that. Whenever I’m craving Chinese food I now know where to go.

I have been going here for around 10 years and I love this place! Most people I know love it too. Everything is so good and it’s very fast and easy to get your food, even when it’s crowded. The only thing I don’t like is that they changed their egg rolls. They used to be filled with fresh cabbage and amazingness, and now they are mushy on the inside, like panda express. I am a vegetarian so that was pretty dissapointing :(other than that, I still love it and it is so inexpensive for the portions, quality and deliciousness!

I’ve been going here since the mid 90’s. Food is always good for their prices. You can get in and out of the door quickly most of the time if you plan on taking your food to go. Unlike Panda Express, their chow mein is not overcooked and dry.

For fast and reasonably priced Chinese food this is the place! The orange chicken is amazing and the WOR wonton soup is the only thing that I want when I’m sick.

Went to the Hunan Kitchen while visiting Rohnert Park. Was craving Chinese food and read about this place on Unilocal so thought I would give it a try. Pepper chicken was pretty good, not spicy. Sesame chicken was kind of salty so would skip that next time. Chow Mein was excellent. Teriyaki chicken was just okay. Place is tucked away in the corner of a small strip of businesses behind KFC. Was hard to spot at first but found it nestled in the corner near the hobby business. Food is already prepared so you can just walk in and order a plate, very convenient, prices are about right, about 8 – 10 bucks for a meal. 3 stars overall, could have been a little less salty, but portions are generous. Walked away full.

This is the ONLY place I go to when Im in the mood for Chinese. They cook their food in small batches so its always fresh. Especially when its busy(turnover rate). The portions are huge too. Anyone who prefers Panda over Hunan is nuts. Maybe its just me but I like my Chinese food fresh, delicious, and without all the preservatives that come in Pandas prepackaged food.

I came here once because everybody talks about how good it is. Gave me food poisening, food looks gross just sitting under a lamp. Greasy mush. I’d rather go to Panda Express. Meh, and you really aren’t open on Sundays? Go to China Delight for really good Chinese food. It’s worth the price.

I went here after reading some good reviews on their food. I didn’t get the very popular box meals as everyone else seemed to get. I got a small container of Chow Mein, a small thing of Pork Fried Rice, and a large Hot and Sour Soup. Everything tasted very authentic and amazing! This is a great place to go for good take out. It’ in a run down strip mall that doesn’t look the best but the food inside it very good!

Very good take out Chinese food. Been our family go to spot for years. Orange Chicken is good, as is their teriyaki. Box meals are very good value.
